EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 I think I'm beginning to see potential problems with our interim closer.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 What the hell is the point of a double switch when you're down by four in the ninth? If you get to the tenth, you have to send seven men to the plate at minimum.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Good diagnosis on the cramping, Bruiser.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 We aren't a full day into the season and the White Sox crew has already put together a video package of plays where the Sox players have been screwed over by the umpires.
geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Hat's off to Big Jim Thome. Wood's not messing around, first pitch of the year is right in Week's back. Damn you Braun, serenity now.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Thank goodness the Nats weren't able to get to the backend of the Phils' bullpen, or that might've been ugly.
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 It's cool. Gagne is warming up.

Guest (Loggins Name) Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Well, at least Eric Gagne kinda sucks, I think. I wouldn't look for Kerry Wood to be the closer for long, anyway.
NYU 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 And Santana nicely worked himself out of a jam by striking out Wood and Ramirez to end the inning. Oooh! The Marlin Manatees.....what a wonderful use of funds.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Oh well, at least we get to enjoy Ryan Dempster: Starting Pitcher.
geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Gagne wears his uniform like a jackass, tuck your shirt in and wear pants that fit.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 The umps in the Mets/Marlins game are in midseason (read: terrible) form. Pitches right down the pipe are being called balls, then a pitch that's 6 inches low or outside is a strike, both of Reyes' hands were on the base and they call him out at 2nd on a steal attempt. None of these judgment calls have even been all that close.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Eric Gagne doesn't care for the strike zone.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 I propose a pair of three-way trades, on May 31 and July 31. The jist of it would be that the Phillies, Cubs and Brewers would all exchange Gagne, Wood and Gordon and hold them for two months apiece.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Holy Shit! Fukudome. Edit: There's a strike for you.

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 I gotta say, while the Phils' game was disappointing there have been some good openers this year. Red Sox/A's, Nats/Braves, Royals/Tigers and now this.
geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 No runs for 8 innings, 6 so far in the 9th. Gagne not having a very good time.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Shades of Karl "Tuffy" Rhodes for Chicago fans, nice debut, hopefully it turns out better. Rhodes' performance was actually an option for the most memorable Cubs' Opening Day earlier in the broadcast.
strummer 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Hey now the Giants are being shut out. This team could seriously break the all time record for fewest runs scored in a season. Please never retire Brian Sabean. Never.
Guest (Loggins Name) Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Rickie Weeks is the thin Barry Bonds w/r/t hanging over the plate and being outraged when the ball goes through the strike zone and himself.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Hey now the Giants are being shut out. This team could seriously break the all time record for fewest runs scored in a season. Please never retire Brian Sabean. Never. For comparison's sake, the 1968 White Sox hold the record for fewest runs in a full 162 game season, with 468. That was a pitchers' paradise, but six position players failed to clear a .300 OBP. Pitcher Joe Horlen posted a 2.37 ERA and got a losing record for his efforts. Pity starters Gary Peters, Cisco Carlos and Bob Priddy. The trio combined for a 3.77 ERA in 59 starts, and went 11-38 combined.
