luke-o 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2008 Well I think it deserves it's own thread, mainly because of the three consoles, the Wii has the best for game downloads. So, in this thread: Post the games you own The games you might consider purchasing The games you want on there And your general views on the VC. For me, I own: Kid Icarus (NES) Double Dragon (NES) Mega Man (NES) Mega Man II (NES) Splatterhouse (Turbo Graffix) Street Gangs (NES) Mario Bros 3 (NES) Super Probotector (SNES) Kirby's Adventure (SNES) Eternal Champions (Mega Drive) Sonic 3 (Mega Drive) Super Street Fighter II (SNES) King of Fighters 94 (Neo Geo) Story of Thor (Mega Drive) Breath of Fire II (SNES) Sin & Punishment (N64) Paper Mario (N64) Games I'm thinking of getting? Well I was considering Impossible Mission on Commadore but apart from the not a lot. Games I want? Splatterhouse 2 and 3, especially 3 as it never came out over here Mega-Lo-Mania - I fuckin' love this game Skitchin' - another awesome game Haunting - I don't know why I like this game so much, but I do. As I said, I think the VC is awesome and really puts the Wii on a high platform for me. It's probably because I love retro games and much prefer them to newer games. dubq 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2008 As I've said many times before - we need some wrasslin' games on this bitch. Pro Wrestling, Tecmo World Wrestling, any Fire Pro for that matter. Even Saturday Night Slammasters would be welcome, IMO. I'd also love to see them add an "arcade" area as a system. Think of the tons of great games out there that were never on a home console. Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2008 I know we've had the discussions before, but I can't see getting NES and SNES games on VC when I have them for free on my PC. Now N64 games I'll get because the emulations are usually shitty for those games. If they did get some actual arcade games on there like vivi mentioned, that would be heavenly. I don't see what's stopping them. If MAME is available, why can't Nintendo figure out a way to get some of these games to us? X-Men and Alien Vs. Predator would be instant DLs for me. dubq 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2008 Hell yeah. Or the arcade version of TMNT (the 4 player one) or Captain America & The Avengers.. or either of the WWF Technos games!
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2008 We (Leena, actually) tried this thread once before and Mole merged it into the Wii thread. But now that the library has grown (as his the Wii thread) and there's Wiiware games, plus we're trying to foster more discussion these days, this is a good idea. Arcade games would be awesome. I'd love to have The Punisher or the Simpsons arcade game. I can see what Lushus is saying, but I really dispise playing retro games on PC's. They just feel really clunky, guess I just like using a pad. We (Leena, actually) tried this thread once before and Mole merged it into the Wii thread. luke-o 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2008 I don't think you'd be the only one. I'd also like Mario Golf 64. Actually, Super Mario RPG would be pretty sweet too. And that's what I want from the VC, is to release games that we never got to play.
dubq 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2008 Mario RPG would be great, yes, as any ROM I've EVER found NEVER works...
The Man in Blak 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2008 Hell yeah. Or the arcade version of TMNT (the 4 player one) or Captain America & The Avengers.. or either of the WWF Technos games! Well, you can find the TMNT arcade game on Xbox Live Arcade. I can't attest to the emulation quality, but it does offer online co-op. As for my VC stash: Galaga (NES) Castlevania (NES) Super Mario Bros. 2 [import] (NES) Kirby's Adventure (NES) Bubble Bobble (NES) Blades of Steel (NES) Double Dribble (NES) Battle Lode Runner [import] (TG-16) Bomberman '93 (TG-16) Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past (SNES) Gunstar Heroes (Genesis) Shining Force (Genesis) Phantasy Star II (Genesis) Super Mario 64 (N64) Sin & Punishment [import] (N64) Baseball Stars 2 (Neo Geo) King of Fighters '94 (Neo Geo) With the exception of Castlevania and Kirby's Adventure, I didn't own any of these games in the original cartridge form. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2008 The SNK Arcade Collection has a lot of the SNK virtual console releases, but Shock Troopers doesn't run full speed. I'm looking forward to it's inevitable VC release, hoping it runs better (as we've seen the emulation on VC generally be top notch, even when other recent ports weren't). EDIT: It seems a lot of the games on the collection suffer some form of slowdown. Don't buy it. Of course, it's coming out for Wii too eventually, so maybe that will be the best deal. Otherwise it's a waste of 20 bucks (or, knowing the way Wii games are often priced, likely $30). Shock Troopers is just sad.
