The NFL All-Time Draft.

I was surprised VX didn't take him, actually. He snaked my center instead. I can live with that, though.

Yeah, good thinking- I was going to pick either Coates or Nalen, but I saw that center was much, much thinner position than TE at this point, and I have still have a couple picks left on my board at TE.

It's been over 12h since Brooklyn picked so it's my go:

After debating for a really long time I went this guy to finish up my linebackers:

AAEA021~Chris-Spielman-Action-Photofile-Posters.jpg

Chris Spielman

- 4x Pro Bowler

- 3x All-Pro (1x 1st team)

- Led his team in tackles in every season of his career but 1 (when he was injured)

I need a beast to play middle linebacker and Spielman is one of the most ferocious hitters I've ever seen. He was one of the best tacklers of the past 20 years and he complimented that by going after guys with more intensity than anyone. He'll instill fear into opposing recievers with his hitting while being just as strong against the run. He was used to a 3-4 but I'm sure he'll have no trouble fitting into my 4-3.

And now to add to my offense:

Smith_Rod_351_1-220.jpg

Rod Smith, WR

- 3x Pro Bowl

- 2x All-Pro

- 2x Super Bowl champ

- Holds almost every major WR record for the Broncos

One of my favorite guys to watch, in his prime, Smith was as consistant as it got and was basically a lock for 80+ receptions, 1000+ yards and a decent amount of TD's. A consummate team player and a great blocker, Smith is my possession reciever to complement Chad Johnson's speed and explosiveness. I, personally, think Smith at this point is a steal and am very happy to have him on my team.

That leaves my major hole as LT/C but I have plans for that which, hopefully, no one messes up.

Good odds that I get one of them, since you just grabbed one of the top two receivers I was considering.

I'm considering both Jorge's and Porter's team to be on ice. This means no waiting on them.

It's been almost 12 hours since Goblin picked so I'm going...

Assuming we're picking guys mostly on peak (from what I've gathered from a few comments)...

s_moore_t.jpg

WR Herman Moore

Huge size at 6'4" and 210 lbs. means a great size advantage relative to my other three wide receivers. This allows me to fit Herman and Sterling on the outside with Maynard and Warfield inside in the slots. He had 62 career TD and his 3 year peak from 1995-1997 was insane (333 catches, 4275 yards, and 31 TD).

Nice pick with Moore. I had him tagged as a sleeper pick early on but I ended up picking my WR's earlier than I thought I would.

Looking at the open spots on my roster, guard is the position with the least amount of players I'm looking at, so I'll go there.

FralicAtl.jpg

Bill Fralic

4-time Pro Bowler

3-time All-Pro

NFL 1980s All-Decade Team

They invented the term "pancake block" for Fralic cuz of the way he dominated everyone in college. He continued to dominate in the NFL by becoming one of the best linemen in the 80's. Fralic was an extremely strong and physical player in his day...he'll fit naturally into that right guard position on my team.

Rod Smith and Fralic were also on my shortlist. Damn, it doesn't get any easier does it.

Moore was one WR I was hoping I could snag late. Too bad on that one, but WR is still a very deep position. I'm not too worried about it, but that is a nice pick.

Herman Moore reminds me somewhat of Kurt Warner in that he was basically the god of his position for three or four years and then fell off the face of the earth. It is always hard to rate players like that that had such a short peak, but where that peak was one of the best short term periods of any player of all-time. Regardless, he is a great pick and it is interesting to see all the WRs going this round after not much action there for awhile now.

I don't think the WR position is very deep at all at this point of the draft. If you consider some of the secondaries these guys are up against, you'll need Moore than a Herman to get you by (ha!). I'd personally kicking myself a bit for not getting better on the offensive side of the ball re: the passing game, although I figure I should get by with Andre Reed and Mark Clayton...

I was planning on taking offensive line players this round but I really wanted Smith (I had him planned as one of my starting WR's as soon as I started the draft) and I sensed there's no way he'd still be around by my next pick. Really happy I snagged him.

Herman Moore was the other WR I wanted. Oh bother.

Gotta bolster my line, then.

Kennatl.jpg

LT-Mike Kenn

Can't really go wrong with a 17 year vet that went to five pro bowls, five time all-pro, and started all 251 games of his career on an awful Falcons team protecting QBs whose names I don't know. That's the kind of consistency and dedication I want blocking for my guys.

I came close to taking Smith the last round, but I desperately needed to get a second linebacker with the position starting to dwindle so it was based on need. I seriously thought about Smith though. I would have loved to have him lining up next to McDonald. Now I'm going to have to go in a different direction, because most of the top production guys are gone and those that are left that are of the 10000+ yard variety are more there because of longevity than anything else. There are lots of guys still playing available, but some people find it hard to pick a guy who has only played half a career.

Time to get that first receiver...

OtisTaylorAction.jpg

Otis Taylor - WR

3x Pro Bowl

2x All Pro

2x AFL champ

1x Super Bowl Champ

60 career TD's

I figure these physical secondaries warrant a phyiscal receiver. At 6'3, 215, Otis Taylor's size is still exceptional at his position in the modern game, while still bringing all that old school physicality. He was renowned as a top-notch downfield blocker (which is going to be essential against these big-tackling secondaries) and as sure-handed as it gets (which is what I'm looking for with a QB that has laser accuracy). With his height, physical presence, and playmaking ability, this is a perfect WR for my offense, and I'm glad to pick him up this late. Of course, I still believe there are more than a few quality WR's left in this thing. I had two solid backups for this pick, and hopefully I can still get one of them.

Edit: For the record, I don't think my PM function is working. I tried to send one out, and it didn't show up in my sent items folder... Sorry, VX.

You have to check a box to get them to show up in your sent items folder. You probably sent them just fine. I didn't pm you because I'm lazy. Sorry, I'll start again :P

This wasn't a very difficult choice for me. Now that I have the best receiving halfback of all-time, it would be great to complement him with the best receiving fullback of all-time..

11294_0.jpg

FB Larry Centers

6'0", 225 lbs.

* 3x Pro Bowl selection (1995, 1996, 2001)

* All-Pro selection (1996)

* Super Bowl champion (XXXVIII)

827 Receptions (Most by any non-wide receiver, 13th all-time among all NFL players)

6,797 Receiving Yards

42 Total Touchdowns

One of the last true fullbacks there were, Centers teams up with Faulk in the back field to provide yet another weapon for Favre. Centers was an incredible receiver, as well as a tough runner when necessary. In Arizona, he was pretty much the only offense the pathetic Cardinals had for years, until he left after the 98 season to find a Super Bowl, which he finally got with the Patriots in 2003. Here, he won't have that problem with Faulk in the backfield, and this also gives me the wonderful option to motion EITHER Faulk or Centers out as a slot receiver and then work a play-action pass or a run to throw people off. Very, very dangerous backfield duo.

I know by taking this pick, this pretty much killed my chance of the other guy I wanted, but if he falls to me again, that would be awesome.

I haven't taken an offensive tackle, so I better get to it and take Flozell Adams.

* 4x Pro Bowl selection (2003, 2004, 2006, 2007)

* All-Pro selection (2007)
