MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

Seriously, fuck UFC on this one. I'm all about Anderson on TV for free but JAMES IRVIN?! That's beyond retarded.

And you are still problay going to watch this live... I think it's a smart business move. Irvin looked really good knocking out Houston Alexander who was/is a crowd favorite... In a record time. They give Anderson a pretty easy fight without too much trouble to build him up the 205 ranks and set up a potential unifaction bout between Anderson and Rampage/Griffin.

He wasn't gone, period. I'd heard rumors that he signed to PFC in California on a 3-fight deal but I guess that didn't pan out.

This is a bit strange given that JOB was the 1st victim of the "Boring Fighters" purge.

Silva will be champion regardless of the result. I imagine it's expected that his next fight after will be defending the title, possibly in the fall against the winner of Cote/Almeida.

If he lost at 205 to someone like Chuck Liddell it probably wouldn't hurt him much, but if he ends up getting knocked out with a Superman Punch by fucking James Irvin you can flush his unbeatable aura down the toilet.

That's why it's such a stupid match. If he beats James Irvin everyone is going to be like big fucking deal, he beat a guy with a smiley face tattoed on his abs who also happens to not be such a good fighter.

If he loses...forget it.

What were they thinking?

Still, though... a few good fighters on the card as well as Franca/Edgar. Good enough for me.

I guess the question is, what are his chances? Is this going to be like his normal 185 fights where he completely squashes the guy? Or will he not be able to overcome the weight difference?

I'd be really surprised if Irvin lasted more than 3 minutes honestly...to answer Dama's question.

Dan Henderson and Rich Franklin both pose more of a threat to Anderson then James Irvin does.

Kevin Burns, who made a splash with his triangle choke over Roan Carneiro at UFC 85 will be taking on Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson at the July event. Card so far looks like...

Anderson Silva vs James Irvin

Brandon Vera vs Reese Andy

Frank Edgar vs Hermes Franca

Jake O'Brien vs Cain Velasquez

Kevin Burns vs Anthony Johnson

Not too bad but nothing shy of GSP/Fitch being bumped to this card is going to make me miss Fedor/Sylvia.

Why not watch both? Why do you gotta choose one over another? I'm going to be ordering the Affliction PPV, and tape the UFC card on my PVR and watch it after.

This why we love Nick Diaz... from the Junkie.

Nick Diaz candidly says he hates doing interviews. But the EliteXC lightweight contender is enraged by what he says is a false perception of him that has been created by what happened at the conclusion of the card Saturday on Showtime.

Diaz, who missed weight by eight pounds, defeated Muhsin Corbbrey with a third-round TKO in an uneventful fight at Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu.

Later, K.J. Noons, who had beaten Diaz for the vacant title, made his first defense by stopping Yves Edwards in the first round. Diaz was asked to go to the ring to do an interview to promote an upcoming rematch with Noons.

Tempers quickly got heated and there was pushing and shoving and nearly a full-scale riot. Diaz has taken the brunt of the heat for the incident, which looked like it came from the playbook of the WWE.

He was so angry that he did an interview to, he says, give his side of the story. And he points the finger squarely at Noons, who in one of his more charitable and less x-rated diatribes he referred to as "a poser."

But it started when he was asked to return to the ring to do an interview.

"I'm not a punk and I don't start (expletive)," Diaz said. "They brought me to the cage to do an interview about the rematch. I was doing my job. I didn't go in there like some crazy psycho (expletive). It wasn't staged. But it was all because of this (expletive) poser."

Diaz said he was upset when, after being asked if he wanted the rematch by interviewer Bill Goldberg, Noons asked the crowd what it thought. Noons was born in Hawaii and was the crowd favorite. Not surprisingly, the crowd vehemently said no.

Diaz asked Noons why he was afraid and he made an obscene gesture. Then, the pushing and shoving ensued.

But Diaz said it didn't end then. He said Monday he ran into Noons and his family after returning from a long run Sunday and that another confrontation ensued.

Again, he said, it was precipitated by Noons.

"My car pulled up in front of the hotel and he and his girlfriend and his mom and dad were there," Diaz said. "Right away, he put his mug on me. He was staring me down and trying to give the impression that he's hard core. I flipped him off, but he's standing over there like he's flashing. I go, ‘What the (expletive) are you doing? I'm not the one doing (expletive).' I couldn't understand why this guy is putting his mug on me, but he had to act like he was some kind of a (expletive) tough guy in front of his girlfriend and his Dad."

Diaz said the sides have had numerous run-ins. He said he can't wait to fight Noons so the feud can end.

But most importantly, he said, he doesn't want fans to think he's a punk or that he staged Saturday's incident a la pro wrestling.

"This is war, this is life, and I take this very seriously," Diaz said. "I'm not the one bringing my family into the ring and showing them off. I'm not the one who (showed up to the pre-fight news conference) in a (expletive) suit trying to act like I'm some kind of tough guy (expletive) rich kid. This is war to me and we have a serious situation on our hands now."

I honestly think "This is a war to me and we have a serious situation on our hands now" might be one of the best fighter quotes ever. Seriously, that shit sounds like it was spoken by an actor playing something military-related in a Jerry Bruckheimer movie.

That's part of their charm. If they started sounded remotely civilized it would take away a huge chunk of the appeal. Nate's comments about homosexuals on TUFV were a prime example of that. Sure, he could've made it sound pretty but laying it out by saying "If you're gay then you're gay but these guys are acting gay when they're not" is so much better.

I think I might have to use the phrase "This is a war to me and we have a very serious situation on our hands now" in general everyday use.

*Not enough sugar in coffee*

*Various rich people putting mugs on*

I think it's switching from "me" to "we" in the same sentence that tops it off. As if his war is all of our problems.

“It’s hard to say because Georges St. Pierre, he’s a bad mother-he’s a bad mofo, he’s just a bad dude and I can’t really make a comparison with that guy and a lot of people can’t; right now he’s untouchable.” - Luigi Fioravanti, spittin' truth

So long as GSP can outwrestle Koscheck (which he can) I don't see what Josh has in his arsenal that can threaten GSP.

Also, is the TUF Finale going to be 2 or 3 hours long? Main card is 5 fights and I don't see UFC with commercial breaks fitting that into a 2 hour time frame.
