Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2008 Randomness. Majority of fights on Unleashed are main card fights from a UFN or PPV but every so often they bust out undercard shit.
Twisted Intestine 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2008 Plus they need undercard fights to fill time on the PPV, so if they showed them all before it wouldn't look good for Brad.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2008 Not sure if this only applies to me and Mik but HDNet is showing the StrikeForce show tonight live @ 10 PM and the main card is very solid with Babalu, Yves Edwards, Bang Ludwig, Joe Riggs and others on it. Plus we get to see if Kim Couture has improved from the ass-beating she recieved in her debut fight. Edit: Forgot Terry Martin vs Scott Smith which should be a banger. Mik 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2008 They're probably thinking that Brandon Vera was a champ at some point. I can't think of anyone else.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2008 Well maybe they thought Robbie Lawler who is half filipino was the UFC MW Champion, getting that mixed up with him being the Elite XC champion.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2008 Or maybe they think BJ is filipino...
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2008 Bang vs Yves Edwards = One of the goddamn motherfucking worst decisions I've seen in a while. Yves outwrestling and grappling Bang for 13.5 minutes vs Bang hitting a good couple of shots standing for 1.5 minutes somehow = Bang wins?! Fuck that. Shit was fixed. StrikeForce didn't want to see Yves kicking Thomsons head into the third row in front of his hometown crowd.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2008 AHAHAHAHAH Terry Martin gets SERVED.

I'll wait to make my own judgement, but it wouldn't suprise me to if Yves managed to lose.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2008 I was pretty drunk watching it but I recall Yves taking Bang down at will and getting side control fairly easily all 3 rounds.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2008 I just watched the fight, I thought Yves took 2 rounds.

Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2008 I don't know if that qualifies as a fight because a fight would indicate that there were two willing participants with victory in mind, not one paid to win and the other paid to lose.
HollywoodSpikeJenkins 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2008 Word is Fedor is competing at the 09 ADCC trials in NYC. Does this mean he is going to start training BJJ, or will SAMBO murder everyone? Does this mean I will mark out like a little girl when I see him? Possibly.
Mik 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2008 Strikeforce show was kinda disappointing. Great card but a lot of bad fights. Edwards/Bang was eh... honestly I thought no one won the first round but I'd have given it to Yves. Round two was again close but to Yves and I suppose Ludwig round 3. I thought the fight sucked balls so I was zoning out. Southworth/Babalu was bad too. The girl who fought Couture had better never fight again. That was embarrassing. She folded after one punch. Two positives: seeing Big John back reffing and Smith's KO. I know that overall Scott Smith isn't a very good fighter but I love watching him. He'll also have a place in my heart after that Pete Sell fight.

Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2008 I gave the 2nd to Ludwig, as he hurt Yves standing early in the round. and from then on, all Yves had was a couple of takedowns. Afterwards, he couldn't even improve position on the mat, and lost pretty much all aggression. I also gave the third to Ludwig, as Yves was pretty much in survival mode at that point, and continued to let Bang take the intiative standing and on the ground. Close but clear, IMO. I'm kind of suprised people are giving Yves a free pass on trying to guard hump his way to a JD, as I don't think many other fighters would get the benefit of the doubt in such a situation. BruteSquad_BRODY 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2008 http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2008/11/22/6680...w-exclusive-chu Liddell is one win away from a Heavyweight Title shot
Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2008 I would love to see Liddell vs. Brock, it would be like the 2001 Invasion, but a million times better.
The Niggardly King 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2008 Hey, looks like we just might get Couture/Nog for the heavyweight title after all, while Brock kills Chuck for the next shot. I guess Gonzo will either murder Mir within the 1st round, or he'll fold in the middle of the second round. Say hello to your big UFC Heavyweight fights in '09. Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2008 UFC actually did the unthinkable and cut Jorge Gurgel. Craziness not because he didn't deserve it but simply because we all assumed he'd be a lifer due to his friendship with Ace. Early reports have him signing with StrikeForce.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2008 might be a good thing for him. He wasn't going to be anything more than a 50/50 win/loss fighter in the UFC anyway
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2008 His MMAJunkie interview confirms that, while he may be viewed as a good trainer and all-around nice guy Jorge is a fucking moron. The entire interview basically translates into "I don't know how to follow a gameplan but now that I've been cut I'm going to start using my jiu-jitsu." Now watch him lose his StrikeForce debut by standing for three rounds and getting hit repeatedly.

Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2008 That's a bit of a surprise given his victories but the fact that Rogerio hasn't done anything post-PRIDE and he put Arona on sabbatical I guess have lost their luster. I'd fully expect Affliction to pick him up if not DREAMS or K1.

I'd fully expect Affliction to pick him up if not DREAMS or K1. It's bullshit. He's 1-2, he deserves another chance. His 1st fight in the UFC was against Lyoto fucking Machida, that alone should make his record stand 1-1, in my eyes.
The Niggardly King 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2008 I didn't think he was much longer for the company when Joe Rogan was kind of shitting on him in his last fight. But I freak out about Sokoudjou since he looks to be in his early 40s, but he's like what... 24? Hopefully he'll rebound.

His 1st fight in the UFC was against Lyoto fucking Machida, that alone should make his record stand 1-1, in my eyes. Apparently this had nothing to do with skill/marketability, more so the fact that UFC was dropping minimum of $40,000 on him to show with another $40,000 guaranteed if he won. Having said that I'd be curious to know if anything kind of a contract restructuring was done or if they just cut him point-blank.
