MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

For all the Gomi nuthuggers, it looks like MMA's resident ladyboy flipped out over a combination of in & out of the ring frustration, beating up Azeredo after KO'ing him. Just another reason to hate the overrated ass.

I just want to see Kawajiri eat him for breakfest. Hell, I believe Yves can beat Gomi right now. Not really taking anything away from Gomi's skills, but the amount of respect denied to better fighters like Kawajiri and Hansen is what pisses me off.

I love Genki Sudo too, but the way people hug his nuts makes me sick. He hasn't fought anybody since Andre Pederneiras (whatever happened to him?) except Bang Ludwig who he lost too.

I said before, since spoilers aren't in effect as LeiTong ruined it for all I might as well mention it again; he was getting tagged frequently throughout the match, so I guess he felt like hitting him twice wasn't enough. So he decided to take out his anger afterwards. I didn't understand what was said but the shot of Kawajiri afterwards implies that that fight is gonna be set up. Kawajiri looked cool and collective, just happy to be making more then peanuts in PRIDE I guess. He doesn't seem like as much of an arrogant prick as ladyboy, which is probably because PRIDE pushed him to the moon.

I think Yves is seriously underrated right now, I don't know why that is though. To me he should be ranked higher than Gomi easily, if only because of the calibre of fighters he's beaten when compared to Gomi. It is funny, on all the MMA sites they are always like "GOMI IS UNSTOPPABLE WHO CAN BEAT HIM? NOONE BUT IF THERE IS ONE IT'S YVES!!" Ignore the three fighters ranked ahead of them on most respectable polls, though I think Shaolin would have problems with Gomi.

So, beating the shit out of someone after the fight, sounds familiar, but I don't think LeiTong had the same reaction to when Kid did it.

The main difference I feel about this is I know Gomi's not going to get punished much beyond the yellow card, compared to Kid's 6 month suspension, not to mention that i doubt Gomi will mature because of this situation as Kid did.

Gomi is PRIDE's ladyboy, he brings in all the fans that are confused about their sexuality. He knows he's safe.

I haven't followed Kid enough to know whether he's matured or not.

This UFC card is gonna be one of those ones where we all don't look forward to it, and we don't feel like watching it, but afterwards there are bound to be exciting fights and since people had such low expectations, they will have been satisfied.

I'm just really hoping Oishi puts up an entertaining fight (and vs. Diaz, he should) and thusly convinces UFC to bring in more foreign fighters.

I'm hoping the Middleweight Title fight lives up to expectations, but really, there are lots of sleeper matches on this card. Justin Eilers has been talking a lot of shit recently, he sounds like he wants to take Arlovski to the ground. He would probably have a better chance I think.

The last foreign fighter I can think of the UFC having that didn't speak English was Mach Sakurai.

I don't believe Sudo speaks any English.

Pride 17. Worth getting or not ?

Yes. Off the top of my head there are two great fights, with a bunch of good ones.

The only matches on there not worth watching are Renzo/Ohara and Erikson/Skelton, the rest are great.

Renzo/Orihara was BORING. Orihara didn't do a thing except hold onto the ropes as hard as he could. Erikson/Skelton was very blah.

Herring v Noguiera was great stuff. Constant action, with Nog always trying to go for something, and Herring fighting him off. The stand up near the end was nice.

I thought Henderson v Ninja was of a smiliar vein, with the constant ground action, and I liked that fight a lot too.

Jackson v Ishikawa was an exciting squash, with the highlight being Jackson going for a powerbomb and a piledriver.

Sliva v Sakuraba looked like it could have been a great fight, but the unfortunate ending put paid to that.

A month before the match in Tokyo Saitama Arena CroCop has found out his new opponent: "It will be Ibragim Magomedov. I don't know nothing about this guy except he is a member of Fedor's team."

Magomedov comes from the Russian province Dagestan, he weighs 104 kg and he is 183cm tall. In his MMA career he has had 14 pro fights. He only lost to Yvel and Wiuff. His last match was 10 days ago when he KOed Olsen.

"I will be ready for this fight. I've learnt my lesson against Randleman so no more underrestimating! This match up will be an overture to my title fight against Fedor in August."

Thoughts thus far on the Bushido show.

Ok.

Match 1:

I am now officially on the Krazy Horse Bandwagon. This guy is like the old, great, Rampage... only better... He loves the Japanese Women (and hits on them), He is profane, He fucks around with the Japanese refs and fighters, and his entrances/exits/celebrations are untouchable! This guy has to be seen to be believed. "GOMI! I want you GOMI!" God damn Jesus was that was one of the sickest KO's I've ever seen. I thought the dude was dead, which is kinda sad because the guy was fun in there with his flying knees. The opening spot with Bennet doing a dropkick off the ropes was great.

Match 2:

Jens Pulver looked good in there. The guy is just so damn likable. The match itself was a bit of nothin. I agree with the quick stoppage, even if I didn't like it. I would have liked to have seen Jens finish him off on the ground, which was inevitable, before the ref stopped it... but since it was inevitable, I don't disagree with it.

Match 3:

Edwards was Edwards in there. The guy is so damn cautious fighting, I just am waiting for him to bust loose. Great finish with a kimura-armbar. Juh Jeet Soo! Juh Jeet Soo!

Match 4:

Aaron Riley just SMOKED the Japanese dude. The JPND had no blocking skills and kept getting peppered with Rileys left's. It was just a matter of time before Riley threw a high kick and made the KO. BTW, sweeet sell of the kick! Good stuff.

The heel hook actually twists the knee iirc, so it might pop. Apparently Trigg tapped, but it was late.

Trigg said that the match on August 6th was just a false rumour anyway, though he said he might be fighting on the PPV that month.

How do you guys know there is an August show on Spike? I only heard about it this morning when Trigg said he wasn't fighting. I was like "What August 6th show?"

Any other details on that.

When the detailed news about the Spike deal was released, they said they would have a live show prior to the season as well as after as part of their live specials in the contract,

How exactly do you break a knee with a heel hook ? I could understand an achilles tendon getting snapped.

The knee joint pops in sideways and ligaments and cartilage tear.

My overall thoughts:

Great tournament overall, though a few grapplers put out stinkers pretty regularly (Borges & Monson being the two biggest offenders). The women were suprisngly awesome, and the new generation of males are coming into their primes. Also, pretty much every competitor (and other grapplers/fighters who didn't compete but wer ein attendance) I met was extremely cool.

I'd also like to note that Roger gracie was later seen making out with hot Aussie Stacy Cartwright. To the victor goes the spoils.

Well, I don't think Pierre has much experience in sub-grappling, but he did defeat 2003's 2nd place finisher in Otto Olsen. However, Olsen got a good draw, and it had been thought that he would have problems with someone he couldn't takedown and easily control. He faced former BJJ world champ Leo Santos in the 2nd round, and was usbbed pretty easily, and though I didn't see the set-up myself, supposedly fell to victim to a flying armbar from Leo.

UFC 49 is my favorite UFC of the last couple of years. A great atmosphere, a very entertaining undercard complete with the greatest high kick in UFC history by Yves Edwards, and a great main event.

What did you think of the other fights RRR ?
