Your Paragon of Virtue Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 I'm pretty pleased about that, lots of potential.
Lei Tong Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 *does cartwheels and predicts Pequeno-length title reign for O'Brien*
Lord of The Curry Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 So...Jake O'Brien's injuries, that were once thought to be career threatening, apparently aren't and he's set to resume training in early 2008. I guess whoever the ball of sunshine it was that was glad his career is over is disappointed. Mik, you tease. And he'll likely be on the undercard for a while so it's all good.
Lord of The Curry Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 Ryo Chonan vs Thiago Alves @ UFC 78. Holla. Card so far for the show..... Karo Parysian vs Hector Lombard: This Time, It's for Judo Ed Herman vs David Terrell/TBA: TBA is there for as Terrell will likely injure himself before the fight takes place Joe Lauzon vs Jason Reinhardt Spencer Fisher vs Frankie Edgar Akihiro Gono vs Tamdan McCrory Thiago Alves vs Ryo Chonan UFC is trying to lock up Tito/Rashad II as the main event as they have since realized that even if Sherks appeal is held up he won't be able to fight in time. Good card so far which they're gonna need with a non-title main event.
The Niggardly King Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 Any chance of Nog being on that card? I've heard they want to have him, so who could he'd possibly face? Arlovski is a no go at the moment, as he's renegotiating his contract and wants retarded level of money.
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 That card definitely looks pretty weak. If Terrell doesn't hurt himself, I think they're really throwing Herman to the wolves here.
Lord of The Curry Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 Nog is rumored to be taking on either Kongo or Mir on the December show. I think in terms of star-power the card isn't the greatest but the matchups are intriguing. Edgar/Fisher especially should be a good scrap with serious title ramifications. And hey, anytime Karo is fighting I'm down to watch.
Hoff Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 What's the story on Ryo Chonan? I've seen Alves fight a few times and he's becoming a favorite of mine, and I'm wondering how he stacks up with this guy.
The Niggardly King Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 Chonan had the sweetest submission on Anderson Siva. Submission of the year in 2005.
The Niggardly King Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 With the Matrix-like slide
Lt. Al Giardello Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 That was the heel hook wasn't it? If so that was fucking awesome. Flying Scissor Heel Hook.
Angel_Grace_Blue Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 This includes some prognosticating which is why I put it here rather than the UFC 77 thread. Regardless of the winner of Silva v. Franklin, how soon do you guys think they put the champ against Hendo for another unification bout? Is there anyone else that is more deserving of the shot (Legitimate question, not sarcastic/rhetorical)? In Dana's perfect world, I imagine Dan is next, he gets beaten, and Dana can go on about how weak the Pride champs are.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted September 28, 2007 Report Posted September 28, 2007 Brutal sounding KO kick
Lord of The Curry Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 That Goulet kick is great. Fighters getting caught off balance on head-kick KO's make for some amazing visuals. See; Cro-Cop, Mirko and Thompson, Josh.
Hawkius Maximus Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 And the world goes mild. I really don't get why they'd make that fight. I guess because Kongo beat Cro Cop...but that's about it. Kongo hasn't really shown any serious KO potential in any of his big fights, and has no real ground ability. Inless Kongo works incredibly hard on not going to the ground, he's not making it out of the first round. Working on his ground abilities won't save him against Noguiera. He'd have to train specifically not to get taken down AT ALL.
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 This fight determines the next title challenger for Randy. In the dream fight thread that was the first one that came to mind. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't fuck this up Nog.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 I could very well see Nogueria getting KO although I doubt it happens. Remember Herring almost KO'd Nogueria. All I know is Nogueria better not go out there and try to strike with Kongo, and take him straight to the ground from the opening bell.

He'd have to train specifically not to get taken down AT ALL. It's exactly because Kongo beat Cro-Cop. The plan, before Kongo fucked it up was to run Nog vs Cro-Cop II in December for #1 Contender. After the Herring fight I'm way more scared for Nog in this fight then I need to be/should be.

RavishingRickRudo Posted October 7, 2007 Author Report Posted October 7, 2007 http://www.dailymotion.com/spbrasil/video/..._talvs-kh_sport Thiago Alves vs. Hironaka. Soooo leg kicky. Click on the user to find oodles of acronymed fights.
Lord of The Curry Posted October 10, 2007 Report Posted October 10, 2007 I'm too lazy to start a thread about it, plus it's not confirmed officially but word's out that Fedor has signed with Russian promotion M1 who have in turn been purchased by a as-yet-unamed American entertainment company.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted October 10, 2007 Report Posted October 10, 2007 Looks like Rothwell and Whitehead won't be fighting for IFL. Rothwell is a huge blow to the IFL, as he was there franchise fighter for the most part. UFC needs to sign this guy, he's only 25 and so far he's been killing the competiton in the IFL, he would be a great addition to add more depth to the HW divison for the UFC. Whitehead since losing to Jardine back at UFC 57, he's been on a tear by posting 10 victories. He deserves another chance in the UFC, IMO.
Lord of The Curry Posted October 10, 2007 Report Posted October 10, 2007 "Killing the competition in the IFL" = Submitted by Frank Mir on a UFN undercard. I'm kidding, kinda. I've seen a few Rothwell fights and.....well.....he's not as slow as Tim Sylvia.
Guest Ant Posted October 10, 2007 Report Posted October 10, 2007 Can anybody tell me where IFL is in the world of MMA? Being as Angle is going there im led to believe its high?
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted October 10, 2007 Report Posted October 10, 2007 --Chuck Liddell vs. Wanderlei Silva is now verbally agreed upon by both sides to take place on 12/29 in Las Vegas If Silva wins, where would Chuck go from there? Retirement?
