Morgan Freeman Injured in Car Accident

Morgan Freeman, everyone’s favorite voice of God, was seriously injured in a car accident last night in Mississippi. Variety says he was airlifted to a hospital in Memphis immediately after the 11:30 p.m. accident, and a spokesman for the hospital says he was in “serious condition.” Variety also notes, though, that the actor was talking before being taken to the hospital, which indicates more hope for a speedy recovery.

 

TMZ is reporting that alcohol is not suspected to have been involved. A woman was in the car with Freeman, and she has not been identified nor has her condition been announced.

 

We’ll keep you posted as more information emerges. Pretty much all anyone can do at this point is wish him well and pray for a fast recovery.

Apparently he's going to be ok. He's got a broken arm but that shouldn't be too big of a deal I imagine.

Good news from the Memphis Regional Medical Center: Morgan Freeman broke his arm and his shoulder in a car accident last night, but according to his business partner, he's going to be fine. “Nothing life-threatening. Nothing permanent,” Bill Luckett told Mississippi's Clarion Ledger. “He’s in good spirits, but he’s in some pain.”

 

Freeman elected to have surgery after he was airlifted to the hospital, but according to the article, he was upbeat even when he was being extracted from the car. “They had to use the jaws of life to extract him from the vehicle,” said the editor of Charleston, Miss.'s Sun Sentinel Clay McFerrin. “He was lucid, conscious. He was talking, joking with some of the rescue workers at one point.”
