Bored 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2008 It's gonna be a Sleep in Saturday on, um, Saturday. Really lackluster schedule this week with no marquee match-up to speak of. The closest to a Top 25 match-up is West Virginia/ECU as after the upset of Virginia Tech, the Pirates came in at #27 in the AP poll. After that there is Cincinnati/Oklahoma, which if the game were in Cincinnati it could be mildly interesting but I don't think anyone sees them pulling off a shocker in Norman. Miami/Florida would be fun if it were five years ago. But hey Notre Dame kicks off their season this week against the mighty San Diego State Aztecs! Aren't you excited??? Damaramu 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2008 USC gets #1 for beating up on a really really bad Virginia team? Then again, if they beat Ohio State there's nobody to take that #1 away until the title game. So I guess it's whatever, they were going to be No. 1 at some time or another. If OSU can't handle SEC speed I don't see how they can handle USC speed.
HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2008 The biggest I-AA games... Nice to see that a lot of them are airing on TV. #15 New Hampshire @ Army (Airing on ESPN Classic) #20 The Citadel @ Clemson (Airing on ESPN 360) #7 Eastern Washington @ Colorado #3 Richmond @ Virginia (Airing on ESPNU) #14 Youngstown State @ #21 South Dakota State #5 Montana @ #11 Cal Poly
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2008 USC gets #1 for beating up on a really really bad Virginia team? If OSU can't handle SEC speed I don't see how they can handle USC speed. What the hell are you talking about? While Virginia isn't an elite team, they did make a high end bowl last season, which is more than what Georgia and Ohio State's opponents can claim. I'm just shocked Florida didn't catapult to #1 or #2 considering Hawaii was a Sugar Bowl participant last year. Oh and Ohio State can't handle Illinois speed. They have no chance against USC (and maybe a few other Pac 10 teams) or the SEC.

Damaramu 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2008 Random musing: If I could die and come back as a 5-star football recruit I would not go play for my favorite team. I'd commit to Oregon just so I could wear the uniforms.

Bored 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2008 So that's six straight losses in conference for South Carolina, two of them against Vandy. How much longer before Ol' Ball Coach gives up?
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2008 I'll give him until he finally realizes he cannot convince a great quarterback to come play football for South Carolina. So next year.

Jaxxson Mayhem 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2008 Great win over Navy 35-23. Ball State is seriously impressive this year.
Guest Tzar Lysergic Report post Posted September 6, 2008 Watching Michigan again this week. This Threet guy can't throw downfield worth a damn. Every ball has been high. He's not so bad with the goofy option-keeper bullshit, though. Miami of Ohio has some utterly useless receivers. QB is not half bad, though! Important balls have been right on target. Getting dropped a lot.
Dandy 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2008 My beloved Thundering Herd is up 14-0 on Wisconsin at Camp Randall. They have shut down the run and dominated the game in almost every aspect so far. This team was expected to make a run at .500 ball this year, so I would like nothing more than a huge upset over a BigTen team on the road.
Cartman 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2008 TD Ohio... Yikes. I know it's very early but Ohio St. looks bad.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2008 Missing Beanie Wells has hurt them a lot, and Terrelle Pryor was unimpressive on his series. Hartline and Robiskie are dropping balls all over the place, too. Just a sloppy performance so far. Getting my first look at Paul Johnson's new offense at Georgia Tech. I've actually been more impressed with BC's running game so far. Also, Raycom finally has HD, and it actually looks surprisingly good. The cameras are set up at weird angles, but I was expecting it to be purple and staticky given their otherwise miserable productions values.
AboveAverage484 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2008 Wow, six of the seven Big 10 games are 14 points or less. This could be disastrous for the conference, though more than likely all of them will come back and win.
Dandy 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2008 Wisconsin's offense has kicked it into high gear since my post, and they lead 17-14 heading into the half. Wisconsin is a superior team, so The Herd needs to play a nearly perfect half of football or take advantage of a turnover or two.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2008 Well my team will be squaring off against the Cincy today. I think a ton of OU fans are overlooking this team that won 10 games last year and returns everyone. I mean, there's not a lot of teams (if any) better than OU on their homefield so that may be where a lot of it is coming from. But, the spread is 21 points. I just don't see OU winning by that much at all.
Guest Report post Posted September 6, 2008 I cannot wait to watch USC slaughter Ohio State at the Coliseum. My pops bought tickets, he's an Ohio State fan, as some of you may know. He didn't tell me he bought them until two weeks ago.
Bored 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2008 If Ohio State is some how still trailing in the 4th quarter I predict Chris Spielman will run from the sidelines and tackle an Ohio player during a play.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2008 That was a fairly ill-timed bad snap, to say the least. Spielman is putting on the eye-black.

Guest Tzar Lysergic Report post Posted September 6, 2008 Michigan player went down with a seemingly minor injury. Unimportant, but his name was Ortmann. Let's hope the Bears take a look at this underrated lineman!
Guest Tzar Lysergic Report post Posted September 6, 2008 It's the third quarter. Don't start feeling upset quite yet. Switched over here because that Michigan game stinks.

I just don't see OU winning by that much at all. Not quite. They lost a few key players, including Mauk, Nakamura and Craig but don't suffer greatly in their absence. They are still a very good and underlooked team and they should have no problems keeping the game under that spread. There must be something in the air for these underdog teams from Ohio today, so Cincinnati might have a chance. Cross MOH off that, they blew with that wide open missed catch. Urban Warfare 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2008 Looks like OSU will escape with the win. I know Chris Wells is a big part of their offense but it's hard to believe that losing him sets them THAT far back.

iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2008 Could Georgia Tech actually be an Orange Bowl contender this year? I know the BC game was ugly as all hell, but picking up a big road win in the ACC this early in the season is pretty huge. Especially considering how young this team is and how little time they've had running the triple option. The Jackets are going to be much much better in November than they are right now.
