Ravenbomb Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Is there a Rifftrax thread? There is now. I've only seen Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Batman & Robin, and the Lost premier, but they were all good to great, minus some dead spots in the B&R commentary.
Guest Smues Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 We had just been using the MST3K thread for Rifftrax talk, but I don't see why it can't have it's own thread. I've got a couple dozen of them, but it's actually been awhile since I bought any. Nothing recent has come out that I've been interested in, except Spider-man 2 but that one doesn't have Mike so I've avoided it thus far.
luke-o Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 I reccomend Jurrasic Park, Transformers, The Matrix and Episode 3. I've got a few others but they're not brilliant. Although in Spider-Man Bonesaw: It's playtime! Mike (doing a Macho Man voice): Let's start with Shoots and Ladders! really made me laugh.
Nighthawk Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Chutes and Ladders, luke-o, Jesus! I've got a few. I really, really love the Predator one. Good lines: (commenting on how unbelievably sweaty Mac is): "He doesn't need a razor, he needs a squeegee!" "Predator was rated R for language, violence and gratuitous hoisting." "CHOPPA'S AN ENGLISH SLANG TERM FOR HELLICOPTA, I FORGOT YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW THAAAAT!" Big fan of the Saw track, as well, which is just Kevin and Bill.
Boner Kawanger Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Halloween is really good. Good enough for me to want a Rifftrax thread at least. There's one really long, grating joke near the beginning, but it picks up. They didn't use up all of their good Donald Pleasance material on Puma Man. Still, the standout line comes when the girls leave the high school and the sign in the background says "TICKETS 555-1234" or what have you and Mike chimes in with an enthused "Boy, I'm gonna get me some tickets to high school!". I was disappointed when I bought Batman and Robin (might as well get all the enjoyment of having that movie thrust into my box set that I can) and they announced that the fans had written it. It's still good, but I'd rather have heard what they could come up with. On the other hand, in Mike's book Movie Megacheese, he writes a pretty scathing review of B&R, calling it the "worst thing ever". So maybe he didn't want to have to watch it multiple times to write jokes.
Star Ocean 3 Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Chutes and Ladders, luke-o, Jesus! He could've been referencing the Chinese version
cd213 Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 Are these on DVD separate from the regular DVDs of the movie, or on special editions? This sounds like something I might want to look into.
Nighthawk Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 It's just the audio, you're supposed to sync it up yourself. Course, you can just steal avi files of the movie with the commentary already on it and then burn them like I do... Not that I don't want to support them, it's just so much easier. I'd be more comfortable just donating them the four bucks and stealing it than going through the proper channels.
cd213 Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 They're MP3s. Do they have an official site for this like rifftrax.com? I must check this out now. EDIT: Never mind, just found the site. Thanks for the info.

Cause I'd be all for buying the mp3 later cause my computer gets a little bitchy when trying to sync them up. And it's not like I don't already own most of these movies. I liked the 300 one, that was pretty cool stuff. Course the sample had one of the best jokes with the Daffy Duck "mother".
Nighthawk Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 Got a good deal of them from pirate bay or scrapetorrent.
KingPK Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 I'd also check out the shorts they put out, especially Drugs Are Like That, Buying Food and Each Child Is Different.
DMann2003 Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 I love the Rifftrax, I have 14 of them so far, The Star Wars Prequels, Spider-man 1 & 2, LOTR 1 & 2, Pirates of the Carribean, Willy Wonka, Alien, Harry Potter 1 & 2, Casino Royale and Raider of the Lost Ark. I think my favorite are the 2 Harry Potter ones, just cause even though I enjoy the Harry Potter series, they can be quite silly.
godthedog Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 have the rifftrax guys ever commented on cinematic titanic, or vice versa?
SuperJerk Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 I love the Rifftrax, I have 14 of them so far, The Star Wars Prequels, Spider-man 1 & 2, LOTR 1 & 2, Pirates of the Carribean, Willy Wonka, Alien, Harry Potter 1 & 2, Casino Royale and Raider of the Lost Ark. Ravenbomb Posted September 22, 2008 Author Report Posted September 22, 2008 They don't limit it to bad movies anymore. Hell, they'd probably do Citizen Kane if enough people asked for it.
Nighthawk Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 I want Texas Chainsaw Massacre in the worst way.
Ravenbomb Posted September 22, 2008 Author Report Posted September 22, 2008 I want Trial of Billy Jack, because no movie deserves to be torn to shreds more than that one.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 The Cinematic Titanic thing, besides having a terrible name, feels a little embarrassing. All the silhouette stuff really shows how desperately these guys are clinging to their one big success. I can't blame them, but Rifftrax seems a lot more savvy and forward-thinking in its business model and execution at least, as far as someone making fun of a movie can be those things. Awful weird business to be in, though.
KingPK Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 They don't limit it to bad movies anymore. Hell, they'd probably do Citizen Kane if enough people asked for it. Some people consider that a bad thing, that the movies "don't deserve it", but if I'm paying for the track and the DVD (or renting it through Netflix), I want it to be a halfway decent movie. The Willy Wonka one with Neil Patrick Harris is one of my favorites and nobody considers that a "bad" movie. If they just stuck with black and white 50s sci-fi or obscure B-movie stuff like they did with MST3K, they wouldn't be seeing as much success.
Nighthawk Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 Willy Wonka is a fucking strange movie, that I'll say.
Jingus Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 I love the Rifftrax, I have 14 of them so far, The Star Wars Prequels, Spider-man 1 & 2, LOTR 1 & 2, Pirates of the Carribean, Willy Wonka, Alien, Harry Potter 1 & 2, Casino Royale and Raider of the Lost Ark. WHAT?!?! No way. I keep forgetting these new ventures even exist. I really need to get some of 'em.
Guest Smues Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 Grrgrll farggle raar! The Dark Knight rifftrax comes out next Tuesday. I'll be buying it. But wait it's the OMG BEST MOVIE EVER HOW DARE THEY MAKE FUN OF IT?
Kilroy Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 Dark Knight: Great movie, hopefully great RiffTrax Oh man, their shorts are terrific, too. I'd recommend practically all of them. Especially Drugs Are like That mentioned above. I think the most solid one I've heard so far is for the first Harry Potter movie. One of their best, in my opinion.
luke-o Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 Doug from thatguywiththeglasses.com has just done The Lion King. I'm a fan of his Nostalgia Critic stuff so it should be good.
Guest Smues Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 Next week's Rifftrax: Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Yeah baby. They've been on a roll of Rifftrax that I'd want the last three or four months.
