PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2008 I won't criticize McCain as a comedic actor, because that's not his schtick, but he didn't look like he was having a terribly great time up there. I'll bet he's just ready for all of this to be over with. Holy shit- a Paul Tsongas reference in the opening monologue!!! I had no problem going for another round of the "Jar Glove" commercial. The View parody was kinda funny. I liked Casey Wilson's Aniston more than I liked Affleck's Baldwin. Afflecks's Olbermann, while a little too throaty, was pretty funny. That said, the segment dragged on waaaaay too long. Ahhh, the Target lady. At least it had Kristen Wiig and Casey Wilson. Good enough for me. The giraffes video was terrific. PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2008 Cowboy managed to spell the lineup correctly! McCain's a great comedic actor, the episode of SNL that he hosted was terrific Great? He got by okay in this episode, and I did not catch the one that he hosted, so that is all that I can speak of.
Jaxxson Mayhem 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2008 Don't worry. Bob's a hater to the worst extent.
Smartly Pretty 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2008 McCain's weekend update bit was fucking hysterical.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2008 Don't worry. Bob's a hater to the worst extent. Huh? I called the episode of SNL he hosted terrific. Maybe great is a bit of a stretch, but he was awesome in that SNL. His impersonation of Ashcroft was hilarious, and McCain Sings Babs is one of my favourite SNL skits. Chazz 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2008 Affleck's Olberman bit had me rolling. Good stuff.
RepoMan 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2008 Affleck was doing ok as Olberman for the first part, then he and the production staff (the camera angle changes were totally on the mark) for the Specail Comment.
ZGangsta 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2008 Affleck doing Olberman was phenomenal. One of the best SNL performances I can remember (even if it wasn't a super accurate impression).
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2008 McCain and Fey's open was fantastic. After that...Affleck was PHENOMENAL. I wasn't into his Olbermann (it was too throaty)....but the longer it went, the better it got. What a ridiculously brilliant lampoon of a guy. Two thumbs way up for the most enjoyable SNL show I've seen in forever.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2008 You know, my fucking cable company sucks...earlier in the day, I had looked ahead on the menu to see who was doing SNL tonight and it didn't say anything about it being a new episode...therefore I didn't DVR it! It said it was the Jon Hamm/Coldplay episode.
Aero 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2008 I really wasn't into last night's episode. There was some good stuff (Olbermann particularly), but I was pretty underwhelmed for the most part. Speaking of really good SNL's, I thought last week's episode with Jon Hamm was great from top to bottom.
Mik 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2008 Not a big fan of the Giraffes skit. Sloths! was way better the first time they did it. I got a few laughs out of Night School Musical. LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2008 The Olberman skit was funny, but I agree with those who said that it went on too long. There were some funny parts late, but that sketch seemed to go on forever. I enjoyed Night School Musical too but mostly for Casey's "I'm gonna smoke that test like Cheech and Chong, then I'll smoke some weed like Cheeh and Chong, then I'll smoke some meth cause I'm addicted to meth"

Speaking of really good SNL's, I thought last week's episode with Jon Hamm was great from top to bottom. The Jon Hamm episode was really great and he was a fine host. They definitely should have him back in the future. The digital shorts have been quite disappointing so far. I keep wondering when they're going to pull out another Chronicles-rap/Dick in a box/Dear Sister that explodes over the net.
Jebus 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2008 I really enjoyed the "Ras Trent" digital short. It's been playing non-stop in my head since it aired...
MDH257 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2008 Didn't Andy's "Lonely Island" partner's leave the writing staff? That could explain why the digital shorts have been so bad.
