BlackFlagg Posted January 4, 2009 Author Report Posted January 4, 2009 after you took that one I looked through the list and realized the first one hadn't been taken so I grabbed it while I could, heh
RepoMan Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 Season 5, Episode 14: Lisa vs. Malibu Stacy Abe: -- I leave these: a box of mint-condition 1918 liberty-head silver dollars. You see, back in those days, rich men would ride around in Zeppelins, dropping coins on people, and one day I seen J. D. Rockefeller flying by. So I run of the house with a big washtub and -- [notices everyone ready to leave] where are you going? Anyway, about my washtub...I just used it that morning to wash my turkey, which in those days was known as a "walking bird". We'd always have walking bird on Thanksgiving with all the trimmings: cranberries, injun eyes, yams stuffed with gunpowder. Then we'd all watch football, which in those days was called "baseball"... Ehh, why didn't you get something useful, like storm windows, or a nice pipe organ? I'm thirsty! Ew, what smells like mustard? There're sure a lot of ugly people in your neighborhood. Oh! Look at that one. [Homer turns into the driveway; everyone jumps out except Abe] Ow, my glaucoma just got worse. The president is a Demmycrat. [Everyone rushes into the house] Hello? I can't unbuckle my seat belt. Hello? [honks horn repeatedly]
CanadianGuitarist Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 Season 5, Episode 14: Lisa vs. Malibu Stacy I'd forgotten how good this episode was until it was on about a month ago - it directly led to my last pick, Malibu Stacy, in the character draft. Two of my most-quoted lines are in this episode: "Not now....I'm.....too drunk". (any mention of something that could take awhile): "Can we order Chinese food?"
King Kamala Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 The episode I'm picking next has gotten a lot of mixed reviews, even finding its way onto some worst episode lists. I disagree. This is a very good parody of very bad television. For my next pick, I take... Season 8, Episode 24 "The Simpsons Spinoff Showcase" Grampa: Son, it's me! I floated up towards Heaven but got lost along the way. Homer: (gasps) Dad, is that really you? Grampa: Darn tootin' you lousy creep! You buried me naked and sold my suit to buy a ping pong table. What kind of lousy son-- (Grampa's tirade is interrupted by Homer pulling the plug) Homer: (Leaving) Call me when you get a karaoke machine. (Studio applause) (Moe plugs Grampa back in) Grampa: That's the second time he's pulled the plug on me.
Youth N Asia Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 I just want to say kudos to Flagg for keeping the picks and everything very updated. Makes it easier to find out what's no longer available.
Youth N Asia Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 Lard was my next pick, almost took it a couple of times already
Kahran Ramsus Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 The episode I'm picking next has gotten a lot of mixed reviews, even finding its way onto some worst episode lists. I disagree. This is a very good parody of very bad television. For my next pick, I take... I thought the first segment was great, the second segment was okay and I hated the third segment. So I have mixed feelings on the episode.
King Kamala Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 I think the second and third segments aren't exactly bang your fist on the table funny but they are very accurate spoofs of what they're parodying (zany '60s sitcoms and cheesy '70s variety shows). Just reading on wikipedia, it seemed that the writers would be concerned that their spoofing of bad writing would be misconstrued as actual bad writing. Again, I see both sides of the argument but IMHO, it's a perfectly acceptable late round pickup.
DMann2003 Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 Season 4 Episode 21 Marge in Chains I only have three words..."Flinstones Chewable Morphine"
King Kamala Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 Excellent pickup. That was one of two backup choices for this round. Lisa: You're a latter day Clarence Darrow! Lionel Hutz: Uh, was he the black guy on The Mod Squad? I'd also like to commend BlackFlagg for the bang up job he's done running this. 15 rounds really is the perfect length. I'm sure there will be some good episodes left unpicked but I'm glad we'll be done drafting long before we're forced to go through the dregs of the show.
Youth N Asia Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 one of the better episodes from the double digit seasons Season 12, Episode 18: Trilogy of Error Homer: 'Sorry' doesn't put thumbs on the hand, Marge! Wiggum: Nine-one-one, this better be good. Marge: I cut off my husband's thumb! Wiggum: Attempted murder? You'll burn for this... burn in jail! Ned: And Harry Potter, and all his wizard friends... went straight to Hell for practicing witchcraft. Marge: Isn't there anything you could do? Dr. Hibbert: Well, I could cut off the other finger for a sense of symmetry. Homer: Symmetry, eh? Moe: Ain't you gonna have a beer? Homer: Well, I really shouldn't, what with my massive blood loss and all. Although I do like the occasional beer!
BradyQuinnManCrush Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 Gert chooses Season 2 Bart the Daredevil I choose Season 4 The Front and Season 12 Children of a Lesser Clod I'll mace you good!!! Gert will be back tonight to make his next pick.....
King Kamala Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 Ouch! "The Front" and "Bart The Daredevil" were my two top choices for the next round. Both should have gone awhile ago IMHO. Glad I made a list of 10-12 potential late round picks a few days ago.
Youth N Asia Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 Season 3, Episode 18: Separate Vocations Marge: Bart's grades are up a little this term. But Lisa's are way down. Homer: Oh, why do we always have to have one good kid and one lousy kid? Why can't both our kids be good? Marge: We have three kids, Homer. Homer: Marge, the dog doesn't count as a kid. Marge: No, I mean Maggie. Homer: Oh, yeah. Principal Skinner: Some sick individual has stolen every "Teacher's Edition!" Teacher: What do we do? Mrs. Krabappel: Declare a snow day! Teacher #2: Does anyone know the multiplication table? Lisa: Bart, why did you take the blame? Bart: Because I didn't want you to wreck your life. You got the brains and the talent to go as far as you want. And when you do, I'll be right there to borrow money.
DMann2003 Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 How this one lasted this long I don't know: Season 7 Episode 14 Scenes From The Class Struggle in Springfield Homer: Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene." Mr. Burns: For god sakes, man. Use an open-faced club. The sand wedge. Homer: Mmmmm... open-faced club sandwich.
Gert T Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 Sorry The Hills of Kentucky were not pleasant............... With my next pick I select: Today I am A Clown/Season 15, Episode 6
King Kamala Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 Saw this episode again about a month ago and I had kind of forgotten how good it was. The show was really starting to hit its stride here and I'd go as far as to call it one of my favorite episodes of the early seasons. Season 3, Episode 19 "Dog of Death" Bart: Is there a doggie hell? Homer: Well...Of course, there couldn't be a heaven if there weren't a hell. Bart: Who's in there? Homer: Oh, uh...Hitler's dog....and that dog Nixon had, what's his name, um, Chester. Lisa: Checkers Homer: Yeah! One of the Lassies is in there, too. The mean one! The one that mauled Timmy! (Disclaimer at the end) NO DOGS WERE HARMED IN THE FILMING OF THIS EPISODE. A CAT GOT SICK AND SOMEBODY SHOT A DUCK, BUT THAT'S IT.
King Kamala Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 That's what my gut reaction was to but to verify the quote, the site I looked up at it had as Timmy. Well its fixed now.
BlackFlagg Posted January 6, 2009 Author Report Posted January 6, 2009 Repo's time is up, Twisted is up
RepoMan Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 Season 7, Episode 25: Summer of 4 Ft. 2 Marge: So, did you call any of your friends?0 Lisa: Friend? [scoffs] These are my only friends. [holds up a book] Grownup nerds like Gore Vidal, and even he's kissed more boys than I ever will. Marge: Girls, Lisa. Boys kiss girls. Marge: Let Lisa be alone with her new friends. Bart: They're _my_ friends rightfully. She only got them by copying me. Lisa: [calling out] Don't have a cow, man! Bart: See? That's my expression. Marge: Oh, you haven't said that in four years. Let Lisa have it. Bart: It's the principle. She's got to learn! Marge: NO! Now, park your keister, meister. [bart sulks while Marge walks away] Lisa: [in distance] Aye Carumba!
Youth N Asia Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 holy crap I assumed that one was gone
CanadianGuitarist Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 As much props as BlackFlagg deserves for his hasty detailing of the Master Board in the first post, I have to bitch a little: Can we implement an eight-hour rule to speed things up?
BlackFlagg Posted January 7, 2009 Author Report Posted January 7, 2009 we're only a couple picks from starting the last round, i dont see any need to change things now with that said, Twisted's time is up, CG is up
Twisted Intestine Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 The Canine Mutiny Season 8, Episode 20
CanadianGuitarist Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 There's still six or seven really good episodes on my shortlist. I'm gonna take this one, just because of the similarity to a previous pick. Like Robot Rumble, this episode unfairly gets remembered for a so-so Lisa and/or Marge story, while Homer and Bart deliver the goods. The entire first eight or ten minutes, from the episode's beginning to the first commercial, is hysterical: Maximum Homerdrive.
BlackFlagg Posted January 7, 2009 Author Report Posted January 7, 2009 that was on my shortlist for my last 2 picks, nice grab
Kahran Ramsus Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 Can't go wrong with a Jon Lovitz episode. Season 3, Episode 5 - Homer Defined Barney: I had to give a speech once. I was pretty nervous, so I used a little trick. I picture everyone in their underwear. The judge, the jury, my lawyer, everybody. Homer: Did it work? Barney: I'm a free man, ain't I?
