Mik Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 Main Card Keith Jardine vs Quinton Jackson Gabriel Gonzaga vs Shane Carwin Matt Hamill vs Mark Munoz Gray Maynard vs Jim Miller Pete Sell vs Matt Brown Undercard Tim Boetsch vs Jason Brillz Kendall Grove vs Jason Day Brandon Vera vs Mike Patt Shane Nelson vs Aaron Riley Ryan Madigan vs Tamdan McCrory
Lord of The Curry Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 Well, there's that test people have been talking about for Carwin. If Gonzaga loses methinks he gets cut soon after.
Lei Tong Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 Gonzaga should manage to take Carwin before he mentally implodes. I'll say via leglock, just for the hell of it.
The Niggardly King Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 Carwin by stoppage G&P towards the end of the first.
Lei Tong Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 Carwin's a good prospect and all, bu it's hard to pick a guy who's faced absolutely nobody of worth just yet, and is going up against an opponent with a world class jiu jitsu game and KO power standing, even if said opponent is a mental midget.
Hawkius Maximus Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 I'm with Lei here. Not so sure I'd say Gonzaga will win 100% for sure, but it's impossible to say how Carwin will do. Everyone he's fought has folded against him due to his power. Gonzaga's brutally strong himself. He's got KO power standing, and world class ground skills. On paper, Carwin has nothing over Gonzaga except aggression. This will be a pretty insane leap of competition for Mr. Carwin. I can't say he won't win, but I can't say he will either. I'd side with Gonzaga before I did Carwin though.

Lord of The Curry Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 UFC 96 Shane Carwin vs Gabriel Gonzaga Brandon Vera vs Mike Patt Now, I'm not going to put this up unless it has some legs behind it but Chuck has said in a recent interview that for his return fight he'd like another shot at Keith Jardine and even though he's on the downswing Chuck is still a golden boy for UFC so we very well could see that go down.
Youth N Asia Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 If Chuck fights Keith again I just hope they don't try and sell it as another main event
Lord of The Curry Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 I don't see how it could be anything but. Both the WW/LW champs are out of the picture, Brock is waiting on the winner of Nog/Mir, Andy is booked for February.
Lord of The Curry Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 UFC 96 Shane Carwin vs Gabriel Gonzaga Brandon Vera vs Mike Patt Kendall Grove vs Jason Day Chuck Liddelll vs TBA
Lord of The Curry Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 Shane Carwin vs Gabriel Gonzaga Brandon Vera vs Mike Patt Kendall Grove vs Jason Day Chuck Liddelll vs TBA Ben Saunders vs Dustin Hazlett Hollaaaaaa
Lt. Al Giardello Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 I'm ordering the event for that fight alone.
Cuban Linx Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 That better be on the main card, i'd much rather see Hazelett/Saunders than Grove/Day or Vera/some guy.
Lord of The Curry Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 Shane Carwin vs Gabriel Gonzaga Brandon Vera vs Mike Patt Kendall Grove vs Jason Day Chuck Liddelll vs TBA Ben Saunders vs Dustin Hazlett Hollaaaaaa Add Gray Maynard vs Jim Miller to this card. Awesome fight right there.
Lord of The Curry Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 UFC 96 Chuck Liddell vs TBA Jim Miller vs Gray Maynard Dustin Hazeltt vs Ben Saunders Shane Carwin vs Gabriel Gonzaga Brandon Vera vs Mike Patt Jason Day vs Kendall Grove Shane Nelson vs Aaron Riley Ryan Jensen vs Steve Steinbess Marc Bocek vs David Beilkheden Tim Botesch vs Jason Brillz At this point it's expected that if Shogun comes out of the Coleman fight victorious and injury free that we'll get Chuck vs Shogun as the main event with Jardine now fighting Luiz Cane in April.
Gert T Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 Did Carwin v. Gonzaga get moved from the show in Columbus? I saw that on your post of the lineup three days ago.
Lord of The Curry Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 It's still on for 96, just forgot to post it in the update. EDIT: Fixed
Gert T Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 Well I looked at the previous post before your last one so I thought "I am an F'n idiot, its right there". Question for the vets in this thread. I have only watched a handful of UFC PPV's, and I know 96 isn't a real high profile card, but is the live experience worth paying for? I was by Nationwide Arena today and checked out the prices, and was a little surprised, but am still thinking about going.
Lord of The Curry Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 I'd say yes. Saunders/McLovin, Gonz/Carwin and Miller/Maynard all should be good fights. Nationwide has also had pretty hot crowds in the past so I think you'd have fun regardless of the star power a show carries.
The Niggardly King Posted January 9, 2009 Report Posted January 9, 2009 Damn, Cane/Jardine should be a great fight. Keith's awkward style matched up with Cane's great technical striking should be a treat to watch
Lei Tong Posted January 9, 2009 Report Posted January 9, 2009 Actually, I think Cane will work Jardine relatively quickly.
Lord of The Curry Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 Chuck Liddell vs TBA Jim Miller vs Gray Maynard Dustin Hazeltt vs Ben Saunders Shane Carwin vs Gabriel Gonzaga Brandon Vera vs Mike Patt Jason Day vs Kendall Grove Shane Nelson vs Aaron Riley Ryan Jensen vs Steve Steinbess Marc Bocek vs David Beilkheden Tim Botesch vs Jason Brillz Mark Munoz vs Matt Hamill
Lord of The Curry Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 Rashad Evans vs Quinton Jackson for the UFC LHW Championship Jim Miller vs Gray Maynard Dustin Hazeltt vs Ben Saunders Shane Carwin vs Gabriel Gonzaga Brandon Vera vs Mike Patt Jason Day vs Kendall Grove Shane Nelson vs Aaron Riley Ryan Jensen vs Steve Steinbess Marc Bocek vs David Beilkheden Tim Botesch vs Jason Brillz Mark Munoz vs Matt Hamill Chuck is off, likely to face Forrest in Montreal in April.
Gert T Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 And with that, I believe I will be heading to Nationwide Arena tomorrow.
Lord of The Curry Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 It's nothing concrete, keep in mind. There's various reports saying Chuck/Shogun will be the main of 96 but with Dana recently confirming that Rampage is #1 for a title shot it seems like Evans/Page is a go in the coming months.
