Fight of the Year: Tyson Griffin vs Frank Edgar, UFC 67. Edgar being totally awesome and very game for Griffin was a great surprise here for most people (like myself) who were expecting Tyson to run through him like a hot knife through butter. A pace that most fighters in any weight class couldn't match, buckwild exchanges on the ground and standing coupled with a "OH SHIT HE'S GOT HIM" ending. Honorable mentions: Tyson Griffin vs Clay Guida, UFC 72. Nick Diaz vs Takanori Gomi, PRIDE 33.

Fighter of the Year: Right now I'm thinking Tyson Griffin. Nobody else has gone and stole a show twice and put on two FOTYC's.

Best Sub: Nick Diaz's going gogo on Gomi.

Worst Fighter: He's not the worst fighter by a large margin but Josh Koscheck is the worst fighter ever. God I hate that smarmy fuck.

Best KO: Tie between Gonzaga beheading Mirko and Shogun going Superman through Alistair Overeem's guard. Honorable mentions go to Rashad for putting Salmon in the hospital.

Worst Fight: Koscheck/Sanchez, no question.

Best Interview: Nate Diaz. I'm not joking. His retarded ramblings have captured my heart.

Show of the Year: PRIDE 33, followed by Ultimate Fight Night 10.

Fighter to Watch: RANDLEMAN @ 185. Seriously though, I'm looking out for Paulo Filho to wreck shop in WEC and Thiago Tavares in the UFC LW division.

Upset of the Year: Fuck you, Matt Serra. Fuck you.

Weight Class of the Year: Like there's any debate on this one. Lightweights all the way.

Fighter of the Year: Anderson Silva

Best KO: Rashad Evans KO on a previous Fight Night (forgot who he knocked out though)

Best Sub: Nick Diaz Gogoplota on Gomi

Worst Fighter: Tim Sylvia by far

Worst Fight: Josh Koscheck vs Diego Sanchez (it was billed as a possible Fight of the year)

Best Interview: Rampage Jackson

Show of the Year: probably UFN 10

Fighter to Watch: Urijah Faber (i think in time he'll wind up in the UFC for the Lightweight division)

Upset of the Year: Houston Alexander over Keith Jardine

Weight Class of the Year: in terms of name value i would say Heavyweight division, but in terms of good matches its a tie for me between Lightweight and Welterweight

i'll add one more poll question

Worst Show: Dynamite USA

Well, McCrory is the only remotely local UFC fighter I've got.

There's a lot of hype behind him, and I'm hoping that his poor performance was due to Octagon debut jitters. He still managed to sub a veteran so I'm really looking forward to his next fight.

Best KO: The DDT from the recent Ultimate Fight Night that ended with the double KO/No Contest/Draw. This has to be the most shocking end to a fight ever in UFC it is one of 3 that I can think of that ended with one or both fighters getting KO'd at the same time the others being Hughes/Newton powerbomb choke and Lindland's waistlock throw.

Fighter to Watch: BJ Penn has never had a boring fight in UFC. I wish he would stay a lightweight for awhile but it seems that he is on the Chuck Lindell path of "must have rematches against people he has no chance in beating".

or from IFL the young warrior that they believe is the future, Chris Hordeski.

For what it's worth, here's what the UFC themselves see as the best of the half-year.......

Fight of The Year

1. Sam Stout vs Spencer Fisher, Ultimate Fight Night 10

2. Tyson Griffin vs Clay Guida, UFC 72

3. Roger Huerta vs Leonard Garcia, UFC 69

4. Randy Couture vs Tim Sylvia, UFC 68

5. Michael Bisping vs Elvis Sionsic, UFC 70

KO of The Year

1. Gonzaga on Cro-Cop, UFC 70

2. Jackson on Liddell, UFC 71

3. Serra on St. Pierre, UFC 69

4. Evans on Salmon, Ultimate Fight Night 8

5. Alexander on Jardine, UFC 71

Submission of The Year

1. Din Thomas on Jeremy Jackson, UFC 71

2. BJ Penn on Jens Pulver, Ultimate Finale Live

3. Chris Lytle on Jason Gilliam, UFC 73

4. Joe Stevenson on Melvin Guillard, Ultimate Fight Night 9

5. Kenny Florian on D. Mishima, Ultimate Fight Night 9

Looking at this list a few good choices but a few serious stinkers. Serra pounding out GSP had its shock value but as an actual TKO it isn't anything special. I'm not sure how Din's armbar beats out Lytle's triangle/kimura combo. Elvis/Bisping is only on that list due to crowd heat, fights likes Karo/Burkman and Griffin/Edgar were much better.

A one-sided fight doesn't make it any less great. Fedor vs. Minotauro I is one of the best fights I've ever seen and it was also one of the most one-sided. Couture's fight was one of my favourites of the year, mainly because of all the drama surrounding it and the fact that Randy Couture at 43 blah blah blah Randy is God blah blah ya feel me? I don't need to go into all that again.

I can understand why a Tim Sylvia fan might not enjoy it though :P

Couture/Sylvia wasn't by any means a great fight and doesn't belong on the list. It was extremely one-sided.

i would say as the fight itself wasnt that good, but just for the moment of Couture winning the title was great

It was a great, epic fight for the same reasons that Fedor/Nog I was amazing: Fedor could've pounded Nog for 19 minutes of the fight but with one minute there was still a possibility that Nog could've submitted him. Randy/Sylvia was the same way in that even if Randy was owning Tim for 24 minutes of the fight there was still the lurking sensation that one punch from Sylvia could've ended it all.
