I went to a WCW house show in 97 that just sucked. I can't even point to anything specific, honestly. They started off with sound problems, you had wrestlers showing up late not really prepared to wrestle, aside from maybe a DDP/Savage match on that show, I can't remember anything being remotely good...just a bad, boring show. Plus, I bought an nWo shirt while I was their and the damn thing ripped like as soon as I left the building. I went to a Thunder a year later which also sucked...although I'm not sure which was worse. It had its moments, but for the most part, it was a boring, forgettable show, and it was made worse by the fact that they kept hyping an exclusive Giant/Luger match that would take place when the show went off the air. And after all the hype, the match ended up being like 2 minutes long with Luger squashing Giant. That was enough to turn me off to WCW for good.

Yeah, I remember the first freestyle battle. That was the first time Cena dressed in Hip-Hop clothes. I remember that Rikishi's rhymes were about how he was just a fun loving guy having a good time, while Cena trash talked him. When I first saw it, I thought both guys freestyles sucked, but I thought Cena's sucked more. I'm not sure about the in-ring one where Tazz choked him out (I missed that one), but they had a backstage one like a week earlier where Cena definitely got him. Nothing special, but I remember his rhyme being kinda nice. I agree that the wannabe angle was better. Cena played the role perfectly. I remember him doing commentary for one of Eddie's matches around Rumble 03 and he had me dying, especially when he busted out the "I listen to Biggie! I know what beef is" line.

I'm not sure if this helps, but if you mean Windows Media Player, the later versions (I think 6 and above) have a built in feature that allows you to rip songs straight from a CD and put it into your library.

http://streamingmovies.ign.com/ps2/article...4_01_wmvlow.wmv Ok, that was cool as hell. He gives out the glasses and everything.

Only thing about that though is that when he first started with the gimmick, they were portraying him as the wannabe white boy who couldn't rap. Like, back when he first started out with the gimmick, they had him freestyle battling Rikishi, and if you listen, Cena was handling him on the mic, but they kept putting Rikishi over as the winner. Eventually, his rhymes started getting over and all of a sudden he went from being a wannabe to a legit thug.

For iron-man matches yes, but I do think they need to announce a time-limit before hand just to make things more realistic. For instance, if you're gonna do a 3-minute match on Raw, announce that the match is set with a 10-minute time limit, so that it becomes a little easier to convey (in kayfabe terms at least) why the wrestlers would feel the urgency to get matches over sooner than in a PPV match where they'd have more time. Also, it can add to the drama of matches when you see guys start getting close to the set time limit. And I'm a big mark for time-limit draws anyway, so... Other than that, on the moderate scale, they need to either stop with the backstage skits, or if they're gonna do them, at least make them realistic. For example, if they wanted to show a conversation between Kane and Lita, rather than having Kane show up, then Lita show up, then having them start the conversation, they should cut backstage in the middle of the conversation; that way, it'll seem like they're catching a spontaneous moment whereas the other way just makes the scene come off looking staged. Camera angles are also important in capturing realism; rather than keeping the camera right up on them, they should distance it a little bit, and keep it at an angle where it really doesn't seem as blatantly intrusive to the wrestlers--and they should only use one camera angle unless it's a really big backstage brawl/event or something along those lines. Finally, don't just pretend the camera isn't there--I hate that. One that really bugged me was during the Lita miscarriage angle where Todd Grisham (sp?) was reporting outside of her hospital room and the doctors made him move, but allowed the camera crew to keep filming. I'm probably being a little more than anal about this, as these really are minor things, but they do make it a lot harder to buy into the product...for me at least. And for little things...I'd just place more stress on money. Have announcers start putting more emphasis on the winner's purse and the loser's purse, have wrestlers get fined for getting DQ'd, counted out, or for striking officials, talk about how much wrestlers get for being I-C, World, or Tag champs compared to the rest of the roster (simplest way to convey to the fans how much a belt is worth)...more stuff like that.

Yeah, I've mentioned before that SS95 is up there for one of my favorite shows. I even get a perverse pleasure out of Diesel/Mabel. The Luger run-in is especially funny.

I was feeling pre-WMXX psycho Kurt. Other than that, tweener Kurt from the SD 6 era.

Booking for the 10/21 show from Baltimore!
Papacita replied to Patty O'Green's topic in Brandon Truitt
I wrote a match like a month ago that I never bothered to send in. I might send it in this week just for the hell of it. Or not. I dunno. -
That may be what I'm thinking of. I'm pretty sure I remember him getting at least one title shot.
-
Nah. It was a few months prior.
-
Didn't Brock actually defend the title against Edge on a Smackdown in late-02? I remember them fighting and thinking it was weird because everyone thought they were protecting Edge for Mania or something at the time.
-
I'd like to see a Benoit, Jericho, Flair, Orton vs Evolution/E&C match for Survivor Series. They could have HHH bring Edge into his camp by promising him a title shot if he can help him get Benoit and Co. out of the way. They could get Jericho in the mix by giving him either a non-title or DQ win over HHH on a Raw leading into the show, and just bring Christian along for the ride due to his history with Jericho. After that, they should at least have some kinda title program between HHH and Jericho, considering Jericho's been getting the strongest reactions on the show for months.

Gene Snitsky... the next big monster.
Papacita replied to Open the Muggy Gate's topic in The WWE Folder
Maybe not desirable, but it at least it sets him apart from the rest of the OVW bunch. It's sad when you think about it, but in the short time he's been on Raw, Snitsky's probably more recognizable than both members of La Resistance, and they've been tag champs for months (not that that really means anything anymore). As far as the push goes...I've got mixed feelings. On one hand, if it works and he gets over, that's great, because as others have stated, that's one more fresh face thrown into the mix. On the other hand, after all of the bullshit we've heard over the years about how the cream always rises to the top in WWE, for someone like him to basically walk off the street and get the push that he's getting is really a slap in the collective face of a locker room full of people who have been working their asses off for years to little or no reward. -
I hope this isn't Shawn's last match. I've got a bad feeling about this.
-
I haven't even been paying attention to this chain match. Is it any good?
-
Molly got eliminated last.

Trish was looking right, as usual. I thought Nidia looked ok too, but besides that, nothing special.
-
Damn, I didn't expect that. Makes you wonder what would've happened if someone like Stevie or even Coach would've won.

Actually, Scream, Butterflies, and a few other MJ songs got play on my local Hip Hop/R&B station. I know Em gets some play to. I'm not sure how it is in other cities though. I've really got no comment on this Mike/Em situation otherwise.

Shawn Michaels injured in Triple Threat Match
Papacita replied to Kurt Angle Mark's topic in The WWE Folder
They should just rig it so that Benoit wins and stick Shawn in the tag match. It's not like anyone will know anyway. That, or they could always have Shawn pull out the whole "Lost my smile" routine. Hell, they could even film a bunch of Indiana Jones-like vingettes following Shawn around the world in his quest to find his smile. It'd be better than the Diva Search at least. -
Everybody vote Shelton for I-C. I'll give you a nickel if you do.

Is there anywhere to find out information...
Papacita replied to David Blazenwing's topic in The WWE Folder
I'd have thought music would've been part of the WCW sale. They've had no problem putting themes for Booker T, the NWO, and Chavo on DVDs and video games. Nah. In the instruction booklet for SYM, they've got copyright info for Booker's, Flair's and I think nWo's music as well, all linking them back to Turner. I know there was at least one game where they had to take Booker's theme out because they didn't wanna pay for it.
