    WON MMA HOF

The Gordy List was *not* created by Dave Meltzer. It was created by Frank Jewett who wanted to see whether or not Terry Gordy should go into the WON HOF as a singles wrestler or if he should go in as a group with the Freebirds, since people like the Birds. Hence the name.
  2. I completely forgot about the signing of Wahle. Holy crap, that should make a difference on the offensive side of things for Carolina this season. That O-line improvement was some nice work by the Cats this off-season. Wahle's going to be a keeper. I want to give Smith, Davis and Foster a chance but all those guys had either some serious (Smith) injury issues (Davis) last season or else they're injury prone (Foster). I haven't checked out the RB back-ups much so I'm not sure if there's any optimism there. Colbert doesn't seem like he could take over for Smith like Muhammed did last season in case Smith goes down again and that's where I see things going downhill for the Cats is with their throwing game. Unless they have some stud back-ups waiting to break out, I just don't see the WR group coming in and shaking any teams down. Delhomme will still have a good season but his WR's might be the downfall for him and the Panthers this season if Smith doesn't stay healthy through the whole season. On the Lions, I just don't see the "inexperience" factor coming into play for them. They're playing behind a vet coach, a seasoned QB (Harrington and Garcia), they've got a stud RB (Jones) and they have one of the best WR trio's in the league (Williams' and Batch). Plus, they also have a solid vet player in TE Marcus Pollard who could take any heat off the WR's or RB guys. They've also got a defense that can stuff the run or stop the pass. They've got as good a defense as the Cats do. Their tackles are some bad, bad, bad dudes to be running up against. They also have one of the better looking LB corps in the league, which will only help the team out. I can't say the same for the Cats linebackers who look too old or inept to be as big a threat as the Lions hitters. Didn't the Panthers pick up Ken Lucas this season? That will give them the edge over the Lions in the 2ndary at least.
  3. No shit...like that second game late last year when the Bears sacked Favre like 9 times. Er wait, that was the Green Bay defense that did that. The Packer D might be pretty weak...but the Bears havent become superheroes just yet. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Chicago isn't anything magical just yet. But their defense might be something out of this world. The Bears have some studs on defense...more than I can say for GB, which is why I'm predicting them to beat down GB all this season. The Packers have dropped some blood in the water this season (losing both starting guards) and Favre has stated how he does not like getting sack as he gets older. Lovie Smith has instilled in the Bears D the old Raiders mantra of "drop the QB hard and don't let up" and I actually saw this from the Bears a couple times last season. That doesn't help Favre any and he's the key to that team's success until someone else can pick up the ball and run with it like him. Aaron Rodgers better be studying the GB playbooks thoroughly because he might be called in to start sooner than anyone might hope for. I wish him the best up in GB.
  4. Quoted for emphasis. BWAHAHAHAHAHA. Look, the Bears are a lot better than people give them credit for, and could put together a decent squad this season, but even if the Pack takes a tumble this year, it won't be to Chicago or any of their division rivals save for maybe Minnesota. Just because a team does well in the draft or doesn't, has no impact on what that means for this year or not. The Lions have proved that year-in, year-out... and what it translates to is that Detroit will have a good team once they're ready, which should be this year. The reason why I didn't put the Niners on the "no way in hell they make it to the playoffs" list is because Rattay actually wasn't all that bad when he had some playing time, and he has a couple receivers to throw to now.. the o-line's not great, but at least it was upgraded over the offseason and the defense isn't all that bad. I can name a few players on the Niners who'd be great additions to any other team.. In particular, I'm thinking Julian Peterson, Ahmed Plummer, Brandon Lloyd, Kevan Barlow (as a third down back like he was before), Johnnie Morton. The Browns have NOONE. And I think I'd agree with the Titans as well since pretty much all their good players became cap casualties. But the Packers, Texans, and Seahawks, as well as maybe the Broncos (although I don't understand the whole signing of Cleveland's defensive line) should all at the least be in the mix for playoff contention. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Cardinals, the Rams and even the Seahawks have a better looking team than the 49ers do. They're in rebuilding mode and I don't see them jumping any of those 3 teams for a Playoff or Wild Card spot this season. Who are the defensive "stars" for GB this season? Who are the defensive stars for the Bears this season along with the new ones they added? Jerry Angelo might not be able to draft offense for shit but he knows a thing or two about putting together a great defense (TB) and he's got the right coach (Lovie) in Chi-town to help him keep his job for another season. I see Sherman getting tossed before I see Tice or GM Angelo getting the boot in the NFC North and all 3 of those guys will be on thin ice this season. You'll notice a gap in GB D talent once you check out both teams defenses too. Lovie got those guys to believe in him last season and if Urlacher can suddenly summon his '01 form, the Bears D could be something gnarly to watch out for. Favre does have this funny tendency to burn the Bears bad though during the regular season though... I just think the Bears have the more talented Defense in the NFC North. That's the Black and Blue division. The Texans still have no O-line to speak of. Until they fix that problem, the team won't be going anywhere and willcontinue to be the whipping boys of the NFL. They've got a good RB in Davis but he needs some help up there from his fat fucks to get anywhere on the field.
  5. Replacing one statue with another a QB isn't going to help Dallas. Besides, I think they'll have problems early on with the 3-4 defense. They also could help themselves by not getting torched for 49 points against the Eagles again. Pinkston is not that bad of an injury, Greg Lewis can easily fill his role. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Bledsoe won't get tired in the 4th quarter like old man Testaverde did. The Cowboys were like the 1st or 2nd ranked team in 4th quarter meltdowns after leading the game. Bledsoe will be playing behind the best line he could ever hope to have (aside from that '97 Pats line). All of the new and old guys on the Dallas D are all familiar with the 3-4 and the 4-3. Unlike the Raiders, these guys don't appear as though they'll have much trouble understanding the 3-4. Plus, they have the personnel, i.e. talet, to pull off the 3-4 defense. Agreed on the Lewis deal. Almost every WR in Philly aside from TO is interchangable I think with one another. No one stands out except for TO. I just think too much drama has gone on for that team to keep it's collective head in the game. But hey, maybe they'll prove me wrong here. It's not like they don't have the talent to make another run at the SB. 6th time is the charm I guess.
  6. Agreed, on the potential WR meltdown. Injuries are the only way I see the Lions sucking the meat missle this season. Bad coaching will not be the downfall of this team. Mooch has got "his" team now. But, one key guy the Lions also have is a *very* solid RB in Kevin Jones who was a bastard to play against after he came back healthy last season. He can be used to take some pressure off the reciever guys. Same deal with Dallas and their WR/RB scenarios.
  7. The 49ers, the Titans, the Texans, the Seahawks, the Packers, the Broncos, and the Texans (sans a good o-line) are all teams I could see being fucked from week 1 until the final game of the regular season. None of those teams did well in the draft (missing key spots to fill) or else they did not do enough in the off-season to improve their problematic side of the ball. At least the Redskins *tried* to put together an offense for next season while still boasting a Top 10 defense. They were just horrid on offense while their defense was the team's only saving grace last season. At least teams like the Bills, the Bears, the Jaguars, and Buccaneers have great enough defenses to make up for their subpar offenses.
  8. I'm sticking with tha boyz this season VX. They've got the right tools on offenese to win games and they have what could be a devastating enough defense to win a championship. Bill Parcells is *not* an overrated coach either. He's probably one of the best coaches to have won so much with so little at junctures. The Redskins will get trumped by the Giants while both of those teams will lose to the Eagles and the Cowboys. Those two teams will be in a dog fight with each other all season long for division supremacy. The Lions are *not* the Seahawks because the Lions actually have some WR's who can catch and won't drop balls. Detroit's defense is also *way* way way better this season than Seattle's was projected to be last season. Injuries and poor QB play (Harrington) are the only things that I see derailing the Lions from winning their division. Green Bay has no defense to speak of. They are fucked in a division where defense is stressed to the max. Have fun getting killed by the Bears. I think the Browns will post a better record than the 49ers or the Titans.
  9. Seattle's got as good a shot at making it into playoffs as the Cardinals do this season, even though the Hawks look awful coming into this season. Both teams play in the weakest division in the NFC and I think the Cardinals will take their division. The Cards are another team I could see winning at least one post season game if Dennis Green doesn't do something retarded in that encounter. Funny...the Lions and Cardinals actually winning their divisions. When was the last time that happened?
  10. Agreed on all points. But, I just don't see Atalnta or Mike resting on their laurels. That's a team that is committed to winning it all and I think Mora Jr. is the right head coach to pull that plan off. They've got all the tools to do it too. Detroit will make the playoffs. They will win at least *one* post season game. They have *all* of the right tools to make a serious run at the SB. Picking up Ty Law would just shoot them over the hill. I really, really like the Lions this season. I like New Orleans more than I like Carolina this season. I think the Cardiac Cats might be in some trouble this season after losing their #1 WR and two of their 3 top RB's are banged up to hell. That can only stiffle an offense, not improve it. Aaron Brooks is the *only* fuck up on the Saints that has me left wondering whether or not they have all the tools needed to make a serious run at the SB. They have the best DE corps in the NFL, their LB's are...okay and their front d-line is nothing to laugh at this season. They've got the offensive weaponary but it's the personnel opearting all that firepower, which could leave something to be desired. I like the Saints more than I like the Bucs. Joe Horn should go off like gang busters this season now that he's got a nice fat contract in his hands. The Bucs defense *might* just be good enough to get them into the playoffs though. They're the NFC version of the Ravens. Both of those teams made some great upgrades on the offensive end of things. That was their biggest achilles heel last season and their WR corps have all improved immensely this off-season. No one should sleep on the Rams this season. Jackson is the real deal at RB for them and will be a great replacement for Faulk when he finally retires.
  11. With this Pinkston news, and other Eagles probs, you can scratch Philly out from making it to the SB. This season...they're reloaded. Dallas is my pick for winning their division and going to SB. Atalnta is my next pick in the NFC. Philly just has...too many problems and cleaning a championship ring ain't one of them. I have a feeling Jeremiah Trotter and Jevon Kearse are going to feel "old" this season. Unless McNabb and TO can hook up for 20 - 25 TD's this season, I don't see the Eagles winning it all this season. Atalnta didn't downgrade at defense this off-season. Instead, they upgraded well and Mike Vick is still a one-man offensive wrecking crew. Oh yeah, he's also got two really good RB's to take some weight off too. I like Jim Mora Jr as a head coach and I see good things for him in the upcoming years. He's got a coaching pedigree that rivals Mike Nolan's. Screw having a #1 WR, Atlanta's got all the offense they need to make a strong run at the SB. The defense Dallas could put out onto the field this season could pay homage to the old Doomsday Defense. I think the team has that much firepower behind them this season. Oh yeah... Aeneas Williams > injured Ty Law Williams is who teams should be looking at if he's still got any gas left in his tank. Not some gimp who is trying to milk out a security blanket deal for himself (from the the Jets possibly) while still "only" being 80% healthy from foot surgery. Get your money's worth I guess. Edge, Green or Alexander are going to the Jags next season. They would have been crazy to take Travis Henry this season when they have those 3 guys on the market next season. Pittsburgh should also seriously consider picking up one of those guys too. Same deal for Philly if they're dead serious about winning the SB if things go to shit this season for them. Deuce Stayley is a glorified back-up at this point. So is Westbrook who is lucky to even be a starter somewhere. The Steel crew are going to need to upgrade their running game soon.
  12. Joe Johnson and Michael Redd are getting Ray Allen money. Is that logical? Elgin Baylor's a flippin fool too. He has *no* eye for talent and was a joke down in LA compared to Lakers GM Jerry West. Hell, Baylor makes Mitch Kupchak look like a genius.
  13. No. If he is, then Giambi deserves to watch his balls rescind into his nutsack. I mean, he's working with Yankees hitting coach DON MATTINGLY, so he's got no excuses.
  14. When I asked Dames if we could revamp with the front site and turn it into Wrestling nirvana, he gave me the okay. All I will say is that anyone willing to take a risk with my crazy ass, especially in this case with Dames, is okay with me. That okay, along with allowing Chris Coey to write for the front site, told me Dames was hip to the notion of the Yankees of TSM idea I dropped on him. He did want to see the front site thrive. The guy did everything I could hope for by just giving me the ball and letting me run with it. Had Dames not been stretched for cash after his move from tha Bronx, I can safely tell everyone here that the front site would be completely different looking today. For the better. Everyone who's a wrestling fan here would have been a winner in the revamp. Dames is the Ric Flair of this joint.
  15. So who's in the wrong: DC for killing off Giffen's characters? Or... Giffen not moving on with some other characters? This topic, amongst my own friends, always sparks up some debate.
  16. Does Aeneas Williams have any gas left in the tank? He was one of the few bright spots for the Cardinals during the 90's. The Ford family is nuts giving Millen a contract extension before his (well-gelled) team has won anything. I still say the Lions will win their division this season. Minny, completely retooled. Plus, Mike Tice is still their head coach. The Bears are defense, defense, with little else on the offensive side. The Packers are in limbo until we get to at least week 4 to see where they're really at. They are hurting at defense...something the other 3 teams in their divisions have in *spades* aside from maybe Minny's new and "improved" defense.
  17. That would actually be sorta surreal to see *your* name in the banning block.
  18. The man's still got swagger left it would seem. Go with the gusto I say. But, yeah, she'll probably be back.
  19. Take it easy Dames and pop in every once in a while.
  20. What do you really think about the Bears this season?
