Layne's voice is one of the best ever that came out of the nineties and probably one of the most unique voices ever. There would be no other Layne Staley. His deep eerie vocals, blends into the depressing song, such as Down In A Hole, Rotten Apples, Nutshell, Rain When I Die, Rooster, No Excuses, and Wake Up by Mad Season. (with Mike McCreedy on guitars and people from Screaming Trees I think). His depressing vocals blend well the music backed by Layne, as Jerry Cantrell bust out some nasty licks, some great solo's, and some unique riffs.
Mike Starr and Mike Inez where the back-bone of what Alice In Chains were, with bass riffs so unique, like Rooster, Rain When I Die, Would, Rotten Apples, etc...are stand out, while Cantrell played his unique riffs.
Sean Casey a very crafty drummer that is often over looked
Alice In Chains in total, never released a bad album. Yet Dirt proved to be one of the most successful albums in the 90's era, it shouldn't go unnoticed. It should be recongnized as one of the top albums of all time, maybe not as high as #1 but it should be in the somewhere in the middle 200 IMO
