The deadline for making a bid on Japanese LHP Kei Igawa (http://www.japanesebaseball.com/players/pl...p?PlayerID=1048) is 5 PM, or about fifteen minutes from now. Several teams, including the Mets, have reportedly shown interest. He clearly has talent, but appraisals of his ability to make the jump to MLB are mixed at best. Some have said that Igawa is as good as Matsuzaka at half the price, while others believe that he's on a significant downward trend and not worth the risk.

Even though the Jets' rushing offense looked positively anemic today and their passing defense was full of holes, they still managed to put together an important win. My most sincere thanks to the Bills for knocking off the Jags today and possibly eliminating them from Wild Card contention. With their remaining schedule, Jacksonville would be lucky to get three more wins. Now I just gotta hope the Bears can do their job in Foxboro tonight.

The preface to the latest chapter of the Naruto manga reveals that the anime filler will be ending in February, and that the show's name will be changed to Naruto: Hurricane Chronicles. Also, the newest Narutimate Hero will be post-timeskip, on the Playstation 2, and will be released this coming spring. I'm a bit annoyed that it'll be another three months until the filler's over and that they decided to change the show's name to something significantly dumber. Still, I'm delighted that there is a confirmed end to the filler and that there's a new Narutimate Hero coming out, complete with all the post-timeskip characters I've been waiting to fight as.

Ditto. I've accepted the reality of probably not getting one, though. So my hopes won't be too dashed.

Oh dear. I can appreciate cosplay as much as the next nerd (and have actually taken part in the custom myself), but I really wish they'd keep it to the costumes (which are fantastic, admittedly). Visions of the hilarious KH cosplay performance featured in the first G-Phoria are fresh in my mind once more. Ugh.

This race is only as close as it is because of Kilroy's poor campaigning skills and her disastrous reign as head of the Columbus School Board. I still think the provisional ballots will put her over the top, but the margin's going to be razor-thin.

Failure. There's a Circuit City, Target, and a Best Buy near me, all within five hundred feet of each other, and they all handed out their vouchers by the time I got there. I drove around and tried a couple of big-box stores with no luck. Gotta keep an eye out for the next shipment, I guess. Although I'm pretty annoyed at not being able to get a console, I'm happy that the launch is such a success.
