    vinyl vs. cd

Never really tried. Grieg is the only composer who stood out, to me, as being brutal to play. Mozart's easily the most fun to play.
  2. "What's the matter, Dillon? CIA got you pushing too many pencils?" As long as we're just doing random Arnold quotes, that's the second best one. First best is the entire script of 'Commando', but that's a little long to quote.

    Fight Music

'Rich' Yeah Yeah Yeahs. For some ungodly reason, I just feel fiesty whenever I hear one of my favorite songs. "One more Hours" Sleater Kinney, "Scizophrenia" Sonic Youth, "Long Painting" 50' wave. Any dumb Guns'n Roses or Metallica shit just makes me feel apathetic.
  4. No, it's the bestest board ever. All we talk about is Chong Lee. And how much we want to fuck Milky, but that's got its own folder.
  5. I'll attempt to incorporate my view of hating all politics into the CE folder. Honestly, it's brutal trying to start anything in the CE folder at the Pit. Everything consists of such easy straw-man potshots. I tried a while ago to start movie/video game topics. They went nowhere. Frankly, you hear a lot of bitching about TSM on the Pit, and quite a bit of bitching about the Pit on TSM. You don't have TSM people going over TO the Pit and shitting on the board. You have plenty of Pit members shitting on this board. So this girl walks up to me, and she's all like 'uhhhh' and I'm likeL 'Whatevah!'
  6. There's also the example of Alex Smith. He's shown some good stuff, but he gets knocked around, and he just looks scared. I don't know if he'll ever regain his confidence. The ball just slipped right out of his hands this week. Either way, let the fucking coach decide. Edit: You ever think Favre might put up another good season with Walker back in the fold? It might be a bit unlikely, but it's feasible.
  7. Do you mean Libs with a paint of Red? Or Cons with a paint of blue? Or do you mean we're all crazy-style liberal? I'm about 50/50.
  8. See there's an opinion that I disagree with, but respect. People that are fundamentally against the death penalty, I can understand, though I may disagree with them. This whole "he's redeemed himself" nonsense is what pisses me off. Fuck, with a couple years of nothing to do, and an author's help, I could write a couple good kid's books. Does that mean I get to kill people and escape the chance ofthe death penalty? If Jim Henson had been a serial murderer/rapist, would his contribution to society (which is 1000x more pervasive than "Tookie") be spared the death penalty? Nevermind Tookie founding an evil fucking gang of hoods who probably have killed thousands of people since his involvement. He's had more than ample time to argue his conviction. Yet, he's been convicted. Yet he's never admitted to his crimes. He's never shown remorse for his specific actions, just the ways of his life. Also, even sick fuck serial killers sometimes develop a conscience after 20 years in jail. That might make them pitiable, when they come upon a moment of clarity, and realize the monstrosity of their life. It must be horrible. Almost as horrible as when their innocent victims realized they were going to die for no good reason. Tookie should die.
  9. The 'squashed' opponent doesn't necessarily need to lose, but it needs to be really one-sided for the majority of the match. Corny miracle combacks probably don't count, unless the preceeding work was phenomenal. Fujinami v Maeda 6/12/86 Maeda kicks the ever loving shit out of Fujinami, and stretches him like crazy. The finish is actually sort of blown, as Maeda spin kicks Fujinami in the corner, and busts him over hardway worse than anything I've ever seen. (not involving weapons) They have to improvise a draw knock-out finish that's a tad unbelievable. Still, Maeda puts on a clinic, and Fujinami just takes an enormous ass-beating. It's one of the best, most intense matches I've ever seen. Undertaker v Shawn Michaels, HitC Definitely Taker's best match. Shawn gets some offense in, but it's more slowing Undertaker down, as it's clear he's in fear for his life. Shawn gets bounced off the cage like a pinball, takes tons of abuseon his back, and by the end of this match, is a mess. Shawn really sells his desperation, and just takes some sick bumps. And it's a good match! Malenko/Benoit v Taz/Sabu The favorites come out with some neat offense early, but Malenko and Benoit quickly devastate Taz. injuring him and taking him out of the match (though he has to be carried back to the locker room, because he's a tough little bastard) Sabu comes back with his trademark suicidal offense, but it's clear that once Malenko and Benoit get their hands on him, it's over. They do, and it is. A really fun match, though not nearly the equal of the above two. Spike Dudley v Mike Awesome. Guilty as Charged. This isn't a good match, but it deserves mention, just because I watched it on PPV, and was seriously fearing for Spike's health. It's a total squash. Awesome throws him, HARD, outside through tables at least three times, and of course fucking plants him in the ring many others. It's not a great match by any stretch of the imagination, but goddamn, I felt very emotionally invested in it.
  10. Two drunks are sitting at a bar. One of them feels ill, and runs to the bathroom. He emerges a few seconds later with an unmistakably vomit-stained shirt. "Oh, man, not again." he moans. "My wife is going to kill me!" "C'mere." his friend slurs, and hands his friend a $20. "just say some other guy got way too drunk, puked on you, and gave you $20 to take it to the cleaners." The other guy perks right up! This is a great idea. He arrives home and his wife greats him. "Good God, you smell terrible and there's a puke stain on your shirt! You drank way too much again, didn't you." "No honey!" Her husband protests. He repeats the story his friend told him and hands her the money. "Why is there $40?" she asks, puzzled. "Oh yeah!" says the man, "he crapped in my pants, too!"
  11. I agree the best way to go about it is to just be accepting. When I went to Tulane, there was a big-ass menora and a big-ass tree. No one was upset. The black fraternity set up Kwanzaa decorations. Christmas is a holiday set up in 350. When did it become a real holiday? It must be after 400 by your reasoning. When does a holiday become valid?

    vinyl vs. cd

The only time I can tell the difference is with classical music, particularly piano, since I was a fairly decent classical pianist. Vinyl definitely sounds better there. However, I certainly can't listen to vinyl at work.
  13. Matt Hasselbeck has been struck twice by lightning!
  14. That board was tragicomic.
  15. Your ubiquity over the last month?
  16. Not in the sense of a galactic "Phoenic Force" that Jean taps into. Or her wiping out an alien race. Just wait until we have people bitching because Juggernaut's a mutant (his powers are supposed to be magical). As to Juggernaut's look, he looks great in the comics, but that costume is just impossible to adapt in any way faithfully and not look absolutely ridiculous.
  17. You sit in a cell for years and years, and you get to feeling sorry for yourself, and maybe start getting interested in religion. Too bad you couldn't have a little empathy for the people you killed.
  18. CronoT's board!
  19. Don't you roofle. This is serious shit! So innit that you's just bein' an ignoranus?
  20. However, what if he calls someone an, and I don't use this word likely, ignoramus? EDIT: Dear God, that' so the dumbest thing I've ever posted. 'lightly'.
  21. Well, it has similarities, but it seems much faster paced. You can switch characters very quickly, run from enemies while you cast magic, it's a lot like the Star Ocean games. I'll probably play a lot of the game on wait, but for levelling up, active should add some fun, and quickness to the battles. Does DQVIII have the extensive class-changing system?
  22. Festivus! Or call it a solstice. It predates Christmas anyway. Which has always been sort of an amalgam of traditions. The tree comes from Geman Pagan tradition, I believe. Of course conservatives would never blame a company for deciding on its own to eliminate Jesus from ads, in order to reach more people. They have to blame some pissy individual, or powerless liberal group. Hey, those people who rail against Christmas bug me too, and have zero lives, but that's like 1% of liberals, and if a company kowtows to them, that's their own damn fault. Most likely, the company figures they'll increase sales slightly. All in all, I don't think anyone should care. No one's being prevented from celebrating exactly how they like with their families. The same people who don't want sex ed taught in school want schools to teach their children about the birth of Christ? Teach them about it yourself. It's a nice story. There's a billion fucking children's books depicting it.
  23. It looks great, and I'd love to play through it, but I don't think I'll ever have the time. I've had Atelier Iris for two months now, and I'm only 3/4 through (and it's not a long game). I never beat La Pucelle. Is DQVIII voiced? Because for once I want a PS2 RPG where I can read through cutscenes fast as hell, instead of waiting for VAs to spit out their lines. Dammit, there's a reason I don't listen to books on tape. On the plus side, I had really grave doubts about FFXII, but the demo's really fun. Combat's very fast and furious, much different from the MMORPG comparisons we've been hearing. Or you can put it on wait.
  24. No. I agree on most everything you've said about SNL. Maybe it's just because I've never made it to the third skit of the night, and all the good ones are backloaded, but MadTV is just painful, and embarassingly unfunny. It seriously hurts to watch. All the performers are terrible, and are trying sooo hard. The show is like watching a comic bomb, except for with a studio audience who somehow thinks it's funny. In Living Color, Kids in the Hall, Upright Citizen's Brigade, Mr. Show, The Vacant Lot, Stella, The State, The Ben Stiller Show, all were far funnier than MadTV, yet it still keeps going. I think it must be extremely cheap to produce, honestly.
