Minor rebuttal: While Angle/Benoit was a pretty good match, Austin/Rock is just so much better than it and Steamboat/Savage(which did not suck, obviously, but I think it's kinda overrated). Of course, it's probably more of a matter of preference, but when I watch Austin/Rock, it feels like watching a perfectly executed play especially with the little things they did like Rock's reversal of the Million Dollar Dream and Austin's reaction to it which seemed like an ode to the first Austin/Bret match where Bret won with that very counter.

Rebuttal: Your statement has nothing to do with my initial rebuttal. You asserted that Kane's burial was the biggest crime in the company, and I pointed out that it was far from that. I'm supposing by your mentioning Jericho that you're implying that he also is incapable of putting on enjoyable matches without being carried. And, of course, this is absurd. EDIT: It wasn't your initial assertion that Kane's burial was the biggest crime in the company, but you played off of it. Actually, my Christian statement played off of your Kane statement. My Jericho one was completely unrelated.

Rebuttal: That's not an example of the Kliq doing "good" for pro wrestling. Rebuttal #2: Kevin Nash did not kill WCW. Hogan not doing the clean job to Sting at Starrcade signalled the beginning of the end because it showed that WCW Management didn't have the balls to tell Hogan "No.". Statement: The exact same thing can be said for Christian. Statement #2: Chris Jericho is no longer a world-class worker(honestly, I don't think he ever was) and it's time some people realized that and quit putting him in the same class as Benoit and Guerrero.

He USED to get injured too much. The man's been pretty much injury-free for 2 years aside from the sprain he suffered during camp, which was minor, anyway. Plus, I wasn't trying to put him over the top 5(Holes, LT, Green, Lewis, Alexander), but being ranked 76 is pretty stupid, IMHO. A-Fucking-MEN!
-
No Fred Taylor love in here? The guy was like 6th or 7th in the league in rushing last year. Oh, and for where this list ranked Green, Alexander, and Taylor, they should be slapped.

Time Force got me back into watching PR again. Just the thought of the leader getting abandoned and getting his ass kicked and the city taken over by the bad guys just broke down my will to resist. Outside of that really crappy season after Time Force, PR has been really fucking awesome oh, and that DT episode where they watched their Japanese counterparts rocked 20 different kinds of ass.

If anybody would have gotten turned on between Rock and Cena, it would have been Cena because Rock totally outclasses him in every single way. Except for the fact that Rock gets shit on anytime he's up against a face (Hogan, Austin, RVD, Brock) you might be right. A few of those had nothing to do with Rock, though. Hogan- First WM back since WM 9 and even since he was the heel, did you actually believe he'd get booed? Austin- WM 17 was in his home state, so it's expected that he wouldn't be the most popular guy there. Brock- More a byproduct of smart-ass NY fans getting pissy because of Rock's impending departure for Hollywood again. RVD- Didn't see any of their matches, so I can't comment on that one.

Judging from the tag team poll going on in this forum, I'd have to say the Midnight Express/Southern Boys US Tag Title match from GAB 90. There's no way in HELL the No Mercy tag is better than it. Not by a longshot.

Have you honestly seen those matches? I find them incredibly entertaining, the only off one of the series being at Guilty as Charged '01. And EVERYONE was calling them classic at the time, it's the only reason I checked them out, as I wasn't an ECW mark. The RVD/Lynn series is the most overrated tripe I've ever seen. A bunch of spots with no discernable psychology or story.

Mega-Heat in 2002? Is this the same mega-heat that he had when he wrestled Eddie in a streetfight match and the crowd started chanting for Latino Heat instead of the "Mega over" Edge? The very same crowd that popped for him when he WON that match? And Eddy getting cheered for the effort that he put into the match along with Edge doesn't translate into OMFG HE'Z NOT OVA LOLZ!!!!!!. - Yeah, the reign where he wrestle Regal in a total styles clash and awful gimmick matches? And as for all these "chances", wouldn't you think it'd work if they ACTUALLY WENT SOMEWHERE WITH HIM BACK THEN? I mean, FUCK, he's had the rug pulled out from under him booking-wise ever since E&C broke up and people act like it's all his fault he's not over right now. Hell, let me do a timeline of Edge's year in 2002 to illustrate my point: - Year begins in the middle of the shitty Regal feud for the IC Title and he jobs it to William in yet another shitty gimmick match at No Way Out. - Starts up a feud with Booker T over SHAMPOO up til WM when he beats Booker. - Post-WM, he starts a feud with Angle last through Backlash and Judgment Day and the matches are underwhelming. - After winning the Angle feud, he dicks around with Jericho for a few weeks and beats him in a cage match on SD and then teams with Hogan. - He and Hogan win the tag belts and then job to the Un-Americans and Edge is left in limbo til the Eddy feud begins. - Edge/Eddy lasts from SummerSlam to the SD after Unforgiven where Edge wins that feud. He's left in limbo again til the SD!6 era begins and he's thrown into a patchwork tag team with Rey where they win the belts and job them 2 weeks later(?) and never sniff them again. - Rey's injury ends his tag run and he starts slowly participating in main events and even mains the UK PPV then against still heel Brock Lesnar(before SUrvivor Series, I should point out). - Edge feuds with Albert as some sort of experiment and it bombs due to the fact that Albert is a crappy worker. This feud also kills his heat for a while. - Onto 2003 and the 6-man tag which he can't participate in due to a broken neck, so the WWE does a mystery attack and he has spinal fusion surgery and is out til post-WM 20 when he spears Bischoff on RAW and is later "drafted" to RAW during the Lottery. - His first feud back was against Kane who was already made to look like a total jobber due to PoochieTaker's return and it results in a bad match that no one cares about. - Post-Kane, he steps up to Orton for his mocking of Foley and repeatedly jobs to him(with a stopover tag title reign with World Champion Benoit in which a possible heel turn was teased until they just seemingly made up and forgot about it) until Vengeance where he beats Orton for the IC Title. - He and Jericho have a bit of a spat after Chris eliminates him from the battle royal on RAW to determine Benoit's opponent at SummerSlam and leads to Edge almost turning heel by jumping Jericho during the Highlight Reel only to hold back at the last instant comtemplating hitting Chris with a chair to completely signify the turn. Jericho attacks him and leaves and for the tag matches the two were involved in afterwards, the tension was rarely ever teased. - Fast-forward to the build-up for the SummerSlam 3-way and the last RAW where Edge and Chris have a match where Batista interferes and beats down Edge while Jericho walks away, thus pissing on the storyline going and killing his momentum dead for the heel turn that never seems to happen. - Edge wins the 3-way and just stares as Batista and Evolution(?) beatdown Jericho on RAW. Now, with all those booking mistakes and never capitalizing on missed opprotunities, how the hell is it EDGE'S fault when the fanbase turns on him? And even more, the heel turn would work now since they are booing him, anyway. The only problem I see in this would be Hunter not wanting to give up the top heel spot if the turn works out.

So who was cheering for the Men's b-ball team...

Yeah, because all the other countries in the world don't use their own pros, right? So naive. -
The Undertaker vs John Bradhaw Layfield
AlwaysPissedOff replied to Angle-plex's topic in The WWE Folder
HHH/Undertaker from KOTR 2002... 25 minutes of punching and a roll-up finish = teh suq. Not even Rock doing a walk-in with his music could save that turd. -
Best Austin/Rock WrestleMania Match
AlwaysPissedOff replied to ChrisMWaters's topic in General Wrestling
The WM 17 is better than Bret/Austin, WM 13. And yeah, 17 slaughters the other Rock/Austin matches. -
- Never said the storylines weren't a big part. And there wasn't any form of crash TV being booked then as it turned more to the soap-ish style of writing like the fussin', feudin' McMahons, Hunter/Steph/Kurt, and Foley/HHH. - That's more like a double-edged sword there because those guys were basically one-of-a-kind and expecting every guy they push after those 3 moved on to connect with the crowd is way too much and then there's the fact that only ONE GUY has been the focus of RAW for almost 3 years and you're not going to get good character development because the others will be mostly ignored. - Excellent point.
-
Great wrestling up and down the card worked in 2000 and it was one of their best financial years ever. Heh, touche.
-
Care to actually back that up with some logic?
-
Crash TV bit the dust in 99, not 2001. As for the success of Crash TV, it can be directly attirbuted to Ausitn and Rock being so popular because those guys are who the fans came to see while the all the rest of the crap was basically icing on the cake. Crash TV didn't work in WCW because they had no one that the fans truly gave a damn about and as a result, Russo got exposed as the sham he is.

To answer the Eagan question, I present to thee... Banky's "I Want To Be A Moderator" thread If you need more info, just do a search of HD from about a week after he was banned and see his pathetic attempt to suck up to the other mods(it's Daily Defamination with Chris Eagan, posted by Briggs72)

Hmmm... down here, Shonen Jumps cost like 5 bucks and some change and their GNs cost like 8 bucks. On other stuff like Viz, I've seen 9 to 10 dollar price tags which is kinda cheap. I guess it depends on where you live and currency you use, heh.

By the IWC, Who is is the most Overrated Wrestler
AlwaysPissedOff replied to a topic in General Wrestling
I disagree. Brock's work with Show was pretty damned good post-Survivor Series 2002. Also, the Kurt/Brock feud was overrated, anyway, and the Eddy and Benoit matches were when he was coming into his own as a damn good wrestler and a great heel. One question: When did Kurt ever become an in-ring general? -
I am firmly convinced that this world would be a better place if Berman was lined up against a wall and shot...
-
Eddy's act was just fine til Kurt ended up crippled for a bit and Bradshaw was thrown into the main event.
-
Ummm... I didn't say Orton wouldn't be the focus of the show, Promoter, I just said you can't do the same thing with him like they have done with Benoit currently. And really though, HHH's quest to get HIS belt back is wearing rather thin now and the it's kinda obvious that even the casuals think so, as well. Also, looking all the way to Survivor Series is a bit reaching, isn't it? I'd be more worried about this proposed title reign tanking before then pending on how they handle it.
