This will be brief.

It rained here today. Before the storm, we had a 107 degree heat index.

See, you were supposed to post the old pictures of me that people love using. All I did was tell you to drop the menthols. I didn't even say to stop smoking.

Now you guys know what liberals meant when they'd spurn some of our supposed mouthpieces (celebrities and the like). We'll forgive all the crap given to us about Michael Moore and not make fun of you for Ann Coulter.

Chicago requires big-box stores to pay 'living wage'
Art Sandusky replied to MrRant's topic in Current Events
You can blame the specialization of this on how Wal-Mart itself has been thrust to the political forefront and thoroughly (and rightly) demonized. I wasn't even aware that you called those places "big-box stores." Must be a regional thing. This is a foot in the door for more broad and meaningful reform down the line. Think trickle-down socialism. You get the people up top to front more for their workers, and once everyone realizes the "higher wages = higher prices" fallacy is just that, the scope of legislation like this widens. I hate to keep harping on this, but energy costs are going to send prices through the roof, not better pay. -
Who the heck is saying Israel is losing? The worst I could say for them right now is that they'll have a hard time wiping out a terrorist network (no one really can) and may not "win." They have zero chance of losing though. They haven't even really flexed their ground muscles yet.

Someone from Toronto is complaining about how hot it is. Look, I never complain about it being too cold here because I know others have it worse, but seriously. Come to the South right now.

Shouldn't the fear on the part of businesses be enough to convince us that it's better for actual people? Cripes, singling out these multi-billion dollar companies for this stuff is made to sound like kicking babies for sport. For some reason, no matter how much wealth that we can't imagine on an everyday scale that these larger retailers accrue, they're made into victims instead of the people who have families and have a hard time making ends meet thanks to greater costs for everything and stagnant growth in our lower wages. What the fuck is that? Since when do we argue in favor of the big guy? These companies can afford this, guys. Let me know when something that's actually outrageous happens, or when energy costs are the root of rising prices across the board instead of higher wages, whichever happens first. -

All right, go ACORN. Come on, the increase just means that the Walton family earns the annual wages of any given worker in three hours of being alive, not just one. This is simply a city-wide law, so we'll see if it works or not before such things are considered on the state or national level. -
Not my fault you're a loser, man. Just drop the menthol cigarettes for a little while and watch the improvement in your life.

Rant must have never visited the South. White people smoke Newports almost as much as black people. I meant that Faygo = Newports in that they're really not that great, but somehow losers are attracted to them.

Or the President.
-
It's the soft drink equivalent of Newport cigarettes.

Spring college football practices are starting...

Florida's ranking is pretty accurate. LSU and Auburn will both play better. Tennessee has no business above #20 until they beat Cal, I think. -
Is that why my lamer friends love the hell out of some Faygo?

lovecraft's an eager little heat leech.

Hey, good for those two. I wonder what kind of father HHH will make.

You can ignore it all you want, but this should really be taken as a strong sign. I'm sorry, is the free and democratic government we wanted to exist not agreeing with us like it was supposed to? EDIT: And oh, you right-wingers sure are touchy. Always with the "you're stupid"s and so-and-so "is an idiot" and all that jazz if you don't like something. I wonder how many people here (on all sides) would be able to express their beliefs without insulting hyperbole attached to it.

Maybe CNN and MSNBC would get better ratings if they changed their format. Fox News destroys them. Remember kids: ratings > truth or integrity. Even then, Fox fell from the #1 position around Katrina time, from what I understand. Murdoch's been getting on the asses of the people at the network to draw in new viewers.
-
Correct. Fox will make liberalism appear to be total and absolute evil, while MSNBC and CNN will, at most, strongly disagree or shake their heads at conservatism. Their "slant" is more in the stories they cover rather than outright bias. I'm sure that if you let their reporters say what they really thought like Fox does, the concern about liberal coverage would be extremely valid. Give Wolf Blitzer a few minutes to bust out an opinion segment like Fox affords O'Reilly and Cavuto and Gibson, and CNN would be under attack by everyone on the right within minutes.

Haven't you been reading this thread? It isn't up to them when we leave.

Whether a belt is a true world title or not is dependent upon how much of a wrestling nerd you fashion yourself to be, since this is all really dependent on perception (gee, just like wrestling). At least this is an argument with some merit instead of that dumbassed title lineage one that pops up every two or three months. ROH World Title = A real world title in the traditional sense that's defended all over the place, but is only meaningful to 10-20% of those who would identify themselves as wrestling fans. WWE Title = Generally recognized as #1 in the world whether you like it or not, despite it being defended exclusively within one promotion. World Heavyweight Title = Same deal as above. Has the NWA title been defended in other promotions since TNA's had a TV deal and exclusive contracts with workers and whatnot? I know that back in the first year when it was PPV-only you'd hear Tenay and West talk about Jarrett defending the belt against people from other companies, but I don't hear this mentioned on iMPACT or anything.

Who would care that you were watching freakin' CMT outside of concern for your well-being?
