  1. Are you sure that wasn't a dig at Jimmy Carter? If it was, it sure flew over my head.
  2. So it's an almost classic case of urban decay that happens to get a pretty bad rap since it isn't really being fixed?
  3. It isn't minor, but the perception is somehow still that they're somehow not as far along as the West in terms of technology and all the other goodies that come along with civilization, especially when using terminology like "barbaric" or "backwards."
  4. On a related note, I'm off to check out an efficiency-type place soon. While I'd normally shoot for a regular apartment or whatever, it's literally right on the beach, and we've only got a couple more months until it's suitable to hit the waves. I'll return with a report, TSM faithful!
  5. Now waitasec... Undertaker and Mark Henry? Goddammit, now the guy's gotta stick around another year so someone else can end the streak. Not Mark Henry, although I wouldn't put it past them to have him be the guy to end it.
  6. Man, Edge ruled so much last night. I'm also glad they didn't press the Cena/Maria thing and keep it going later on. I'm all for whatever has Maria onscreen more, but not that.
  7. Oh yeah, that's appetizing.
  8. I wanna know why FromBeyondTheGrave is still here. Creating duplicate accounts actually is trolling, I'd think.
  9. Yessir, the military's running game, that's where I'd wanna be.
  10. I use "pregame" often. Yeah, I'm a disappointment also.
  11. I dunno man, at least *most* of the Muslim troublemakers are still outside halls of administrative power. Meanwhile in Central and South America, their actual governments are the hostile ones, and the sentiment doesn't appear to be losing any steam.
  12. There's apparently a baseball player named Coco Crisp. I had no idea about this until ESPN reported on him signing a new contract.
  13. Nah, just a misguided limey.
  14. Maybe I'm ambivalent towards all this because the brewing storm in our own hemisphere is a hell of a lot more troubling and we seem to be ignoring it.
  15. I used to get a lot of flak from my friends at work when I'd listen to Rush Limbaugh during weekday day shifts. I don't listen to that stuff to get pissed off, it's more of an attempt to try to know the enemy and its methods more. Like when his solution for high heating bills (this was in October I think) was "put on a sweater," completely ignoring that there's a hell of a lot more that goes into it than people not dressing in layers. After a while it wasn't fun anymore and the same tactics were used over and over again. You can only hear "see, this is what the Left tries to do" so many times before you realize that anyone who listens to that crap isn't worth your time.
  16. And Europeans, along with Latin America, have riots over soccer games.
  17. http://totsafety.ytmnd.com/ I offer this as a consolation to anyone who clicked on this thread expecting entertainment.
  18. It isn't even real conservatives and liberals we're talking about here. The supposed beacons for the opposites of the political spectrum are nothing but a series of one-upping jokes. Neo-Cons are lost without a Cold War to fight and Faux-Liberals are overreacting to what's not really a large segment of the Right in the first place. You end up having the most inept and skewed perspectives arguing on TV and radio all the time while REAL conservatives and liberals are completely lost in the shuffle. It's like if your parents got into an argument with another kid's parents and whatever your problem was with the other kid is completely lost. All you can do is bide your time and wait for the adults to be old and feeble so that you can manage things yourself, independently. Unfortunately, thanks to the attempted homogenization of the American experience (under the guise of an on-demand society that embraces individual choice) most of us fall into this bullshit and end up like the rabid, mentally deficient dogs we all used to hate watching debate each other. I have no problem whatsoever with real conservatives and real liberals, and, believe it or not, the real ones don't mind the other side too much. It's the whackjob hijacking of politics that's gone down that makes us think otherwise. I mean, what happened to dudes from both parties hanging out at social events tied to the State of the Union? Not this year, because "IT'S OUR WAY OR THE HIGHWAY, YOU EVIL PERSON!" is all any of the doddering monkeys in suits that we call a government can summon from their lobbyist-greased vocal chords. That said, if you're an incurable news junkie like myself, do what I did. Abandon the high-gloss world of HD and superduper graphics and pretty reporters and rich kids who've disappeared and watch the NewsHour each night at 6 on PBS. It's strangely liberating to actually have someone else report and allow you to decide.
  19. I'll watch the whole thing later, but that we "didn't expect" planes being used as missiles and "didn't expect" Hamas to win Palestinian elections four years later is funny. Our government really doesn't expect much.
  20. We really should avoid calling them less civilized or barbaric. They're just as far along as us in every way except the concept of a secular world. Different, not worse. This sort of underestimation has also lead to the sort of mess the West is in when dealing with the Arab world.
  21. Good, you're too big for it to work on you anyway.
  22. If you can still get it up after a half ounce, you shouldn't be subject to anyone's scorn.
  23. No, terrible still. What an awful fad.
  24. I held in what would have been a series of complete room-clearers while hanging out with a couple'a females the other night. On the drive home, I said to myself "okay, coast's clear," and yikes. It doesn't help that driving over the bridge from downtown out to James Island takes you over a huge area of pluff mud and past the sewage plant.
  25. Hey, do those championship thingies only show up on the normal skin? I switched to Webber the other day (since the Writers' folder looks cool) and didn't realize I hadn't seen any of those icons for a while until someone mentioned them.
