Tonight on Rita Cosby's MSNBC show devoted to WWE's Afghanistan trip, Carlito's final words are "I want to encourage all these men here to continue support the WWE, especially Carlito." Got a good laugh from the troops. I need to make another round of old tape watching. There are so many great lines on commentary that you either forget about or tune out while you're watching it, whether it's Jesse, Heenan, Lawler, or whoever.

I love the match just because it was the first whetting of the fans' appetites to see Rock and Austin go at it and was the very beginning of the Wrestlemania XVII build. Most probably remember their one-on-one exchange from the Rumble match the next month more, but the electricity was greater for this one I felt. Kane was the only guy around at the Rumble and you knew that with only three guys left in that they'd have to lock up eventually, but in that HIAC match it came out of nowhere for me. Even knowing that they were already the main event of Wrestlemania five months later didn't dampen it at all. It benefited greatly from, as someone said earlier, the match being totally chaotic and having little flow. That way, when the two locked eyes and went off on each other it felt like a sudden moment of clarity in what was otherwise a big mess. One of the last times during the peak period that I really marked out and felt my eyes widen when I realized what was about to go down. Man, I wish I hadn't accidentally taped over that show.

I think Vick could have been better than Young is now if he'd stuck around for his full four years of college. But that's pretty irrelevant in this thread, so... I'm amending what I've said before. I think USC will still cover the spread, but it won't be a super dominating perfomance. Texas will be able to hang until the fourth quarter. It'll still feel like they're just barely containing USC the whole time though. With such a prolific pair of offenses, how many punts you think we'll see?

Nice to know that players can always look to their coach for support when they're being harassed by their fellow players. On a little side tangent, does it feel weird to have pictures of guys you go to school with in your avatar? I only ask because you're the one guy here who falls under that, and it'd be weird if I were a player for a school's team and knew people I was walking past each day had a picture of me accompanying each post of theirs on messageboards.

It's not like Sunday Night games have ever been great matchups historically anyway. Doesn't help that the commentary is awful.

What's funny is that their non-black shirts are often better. The first Kurt Angle shirt was the first that came to mind when I thought of what non-black shirts they've had. The Kaientai shirt was the shit too, as were the "Reeking of Awesomeness" E&C shirts. The first Tazz one was great too, if only it didn't have something on the back.

In this day and age of "we can pack more intensely-scripted controversy into our shows than you," a series about any major sport is pretty much impossible. Maybe the reality route would, for once, produce a realistic and compelling look at a team and its members, but no one wants to see more of that reality shit.

Nah, there's not much meaning you can take from this. Dude went nuts, said he had a bomb, and tried to run down the jetway when confronted. Unfortunate, but threats like that have to be taken seriously. It's not like what happened in London where the dude just plain ran, this person actually said they meant to commit harm, even though he didn't have any means to do so. And the family is dealing with it perfectly so far, not making any trouble or trying to create a shitstorm a la Cindy Sheehan.

Sorry man, but given the rest of what you've said here about yourself, I have a hard time beleiving that's you. I'd expect someone so obsessed with exercise to be in good shape, but there's no way in hell you'd look like that and be so... well, you. Hard to find words.
