The only part of this year's show that bugs me is that they'll claim up and down that they went to Afghanistan because it's the "forgotten war" (which it is) but the real reason is that something like this in Iraq woulda been attacked lickety-split. Previous years didn't have nearly that level of uncertainty. Vince may be crazy, but he ain't stupid. Go to the theater of war where shit's still blowing up all over the place on a daily basis, or where the chaos has mostly been reined in?

Family Guy was so phoned-in last night that it wouldn't surprise me if the Desperate Housewives joke backfired and people just started looking for something else. The train of thought was probably "let's have Peter create his own religion and have Stewie have to live in a bubble!" for the script and that was it. When Peter's father broke character it was sad considering he's one of the few defined characters left, yet he's still relentlessly one-dimensional.

I've been watching Raw for so long now, I really have no idea what I'd do on Monday nights when it isn't football season. It still excites me sometimes, especially when I consider not watching something. I might not watch Smackdown regularly, but I decided at 8:30 last night to head to the sports bar so I could see the HIAC match after almost completely making up my mind to just stay home, save the seven bucks, and watch what I thought (before kickoff) would be a good Falcons/Bears game. Yeah, the match failed to deliver. Yeah, the show blew. I'm simply too much of an optimist to completely stop watching wrestling. And it's still pretty fucking cool when they do that thing once or twice a year that really blows you away, to be honest. When it stops giving me that neat feeling to watch those moments of greatness, I'll stop. For now though, I'm still a dumb little mark for Cena being the first Raw draft lottery pick, Big Show getting in HHH's face and telling him to try and be a big man with the biggest athlete in the world standing before him, and even dumb shit like Undertaker emerging from the flaming casket at the end of Survivor Series this year, to list some examples from the last six months.

I'm not up on my pop culture beefs. Someone wanna elaborate here?

I'm pretty jazzed about the Hawaii bowl too, in addition to the GMAC bowl. Not only is Hawaii not involved in it for the first time ever (I think), but you've got a UCF team that couldn't buy a win last year versus that really fun to watch Nevada pistol formation offense. As for the GMAC, ESPN/ESPN2 had UTEP on a good few times this year and I caught them once on our Comcast Sports channel against UAB. They might not be the most talented, but damned if they don't come to play every game.

The Zombies were a band too. Call your local oldies station for more info!

I miss the late 90s, musically. You could turn to MTV (if they were playing videos, since they had already stopped for the most part by then) and see a Korn video followed by the Goo Goo Dolls or some shit. Balance is what it's all about, and these days it's either this lame-ass pussy bullshit or... well, that's about it as far as mainstream level rock goes these days. I couldn't tell the bands apart if I was offered millions of dollars. They all seem to have the same-sounding lead singer, same song structure, everything. At least Maroon 5 was something different. Fortunately, jam bands aren't really all that viable in terms of marketing. I'll take the crap we've got now over that shit turning up on common music channels and radio stations, at least this emo stuff is worth a few good laughs.

So now owning a gun is analogous with freedom. Okay then.

I honked twice on the floor of the restaurant/bar where my friends and I used to attend trivia regularly, during trivia itself. I didn't get kicked out or even warned upon my next visit.

How many (normal, well-adjusted) people would readily know who Persis Khambatta was?

Well, how do you? Oh yeah, nevermind.

Nearly every track on The Fat of the Land.

He's different facially too. I never thought they were related outside of Gizmoduck and Launchpad being part of both shows.

I thought "Korned" would have meant that it was taken up by the Freak demographic.

Was an asshole. lol

I wanted Nature to win it. No single person has really been worthy of the title this year. Friggin' Bono? Whatever.

It helps foster a culture of fear and distrust, and I don't see these 2nd Amendment advocates arguing over the state militia part. Other developed nations don't need them, so what makes us need them, besides worrying about the other guy possibly having one? The other guy wouldn't even have one in the first place, so there'd be no need for a person to arm themselves for defense. Also, this is a rare case when I'll pull the "THINK OF THE CHILDREN!" card. Yes, there are people who are responsible with them, but it's still setting an awfully violent model for kids to follow. I mean, we've got friggin' metal detectors in schools these days. Doesn't that alone show that it isn't a good example to set? Am I the only one that remembers when the worst you'd hear happening at a school was a stabbing or particularly violent schoolyard brawl? With time, we've become less and less responsible about guns while they're becoming all the more efficient and easy to use.

Since I know a little about a lot and defer to specialists even on things I think I know well, I think I'd be best put to use, as I said earlier, writing about virtually anything on the human radar. It'd have a balanced approach, where it's neither all-out humor writing or straight laced, but sometimes leaning one way more than another. "Staring At A Blank Page" would a good title, since it'll probably end up being a kind of "stuff that pops into my head" piece. Think of it as the spirit of the site's diversity being manifested in an single piece each week. The regular visitor would never be able to predict what I'd write about next, because anything would be fair game much like the site as a whole. It wouldn't descend into yet another "I think I'm smarter than all of you retards but you'll laugh at what I say no matter what because it's so frank and profane" Maddox-like format, that much I know for sure. It's difficult to enunciate what it would be exactly. Typical, when I pitch an idea for a writing project I'm at a lack of words to describe it. I'll throw together an example for you folks in charge if you'd like. I might write out a rough pilot article just to figure it out myself. I would also be up for filling in for others who can't make their deadlines for whatever reason, s'long as it's something I felt I could write about in a fairly informed manner, like a substitute Raw review, for example. I'd also take part in roundtable format pieces under the same guidelines.

And it doesn't help that the media loves to get everyone worked up about them, regardless of the offense. You'd think they were bloodthirsty cavemen who roamed the streets of your town, fucking everything in sight.
