I'll have the PRL/Blurricane match done by about 12 or 1 p.m. tonight.

MLB: -The New York Yankees winning the World Series in 1996 for the first time since 1978 and returning to glory. They came back from 0-2 and it was great seeing the Yanks return to dominace. -The Yankees World Series wins in 1998, 1999, and 2000 were great, but the one I love the most is their win in 2000 when they defeated the Mets in the World Series and settled the age old argument of who would win the World Series: The Mets or the Yankees? I got a kick out of seeing the Yanks beat the Mets in 5 games and winning the Championship in Shea Stadium none the less. Hell, that whole Subway Series was great for me and I'll never ever forget it. 2nd best week of my life. (The 1st being the week I went on vacation in Orlando, Florida back in 2002.) -David Wells and David Cones' perfect games. -Roger Clemens 300th win. -The Yankees 125-14 season in 1998. Considered the BEST EVER by many. -Game 7 of the 2003 American League Championship Series. Yankees. Red Sox. 11th inning. Aaron Boone. NBA: -The New York Knicks making it to the 1994 NBA Finals. -The New York Knicks defeating the Indiana Pacers in the 1999 Eastern Conference Finals to make it to the NBA Finals. I saw Game 6 in it's entirety and I was on my feet for the entire game. I was never more excited for a NBA game then I was for that game. Great times, man, great times. -The New Jersey Nets making it to the 2002 and 2003 NBA Finals. Hmmm. That's it.
-
MLB: -2001 World Series, Game 7: The New York Yankees are one inning away from winning their 27th World Series Championship. But a Luis Gonzalez single into the outfield prevents it from happening and results in the Yankees losing the World Series for the first time since 1981. The fact that the Diamonbacks haven't even made the playoffs for two straight years really makes it even more painful. -The 2002 American League Division Series. Anaheim Angels defeat the Yankees 3 games to 1. The Angels go on to win the World Series but don't even make it to the playoffs the next year. -The 1994 Major League Baseball Strike. The Yankees were on a roll heading into August and looked to be heading to the playoffs for the first time since 1981. But the Strike prevented it. -Game 6 of the 1999 National League Championship Series. I was rooting for the New York Mets to beat the Braves and head to the World Series to face the Yankees in a Subway Series, but it was not to be as the Braves defeat the Mets ON A WALK!!! A WALK!!! A FREAKING WALL!!! Oh well, I got to see a Subway Series the next year. -The 1997 American League Division Series Games 4 and 5. Mariano Rivera chokes thus allowing the Cleveland Indians to defeat the Yankees and eliminate them. NFL: -The New York Jets losing the 1998 AFC Championship against the Denver Broncos losing their chance to go to the Super Bowl. The fact that the Broncos won didn't help either. -Super Bowl XXXV: The New York Giants are destroyed by the Baltimore Ravens. NHL: -The New York Rangers being eliminated from the 1997 Stanley Cup Playoffs by the Philliedelphia Flyers. -The New Jersey Devils losing the 2001 Stanley Cup against the Colorado Avalanche was very heartbreaking. NBA: -John Starks' missed three-pointer in the final seconds of Game 7 of the 1994 NBA Finals giving the Houston Rockets their first NBA Championship. That was HEARTBREAKING for me and I was only 7 at the time. -Patrick Ewing's missed shot in the final seconds of Game 5 of the 1995 Eastern Conference Quarter-Finals allowing the Indiana Pacers to elimate the Knicks from the playoffs and move on to the Semi-Finals. -The Chicago Bulls destroying the Knicks in the 1996 Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. -The Miami Heat coming from behind to defeat the Knicks in Game 6 and elimating the Knicks in Game 7. That was absolutely depressing to watch as I felt the Knicks would have gone on to the NBA Finals in 1997 if it weren't for the Bench Clearing Brawl between the Knicks and Heat. The Knicks clearly had the momentaum going into Game 6 but they blew their lead and the series. -The Knicks losing the 1999 NBA Finals in 5 Games. I truly felt that this was THE year. The year in which the Knicks would finally win the NBA Championship. It looked like the Knicks wouldn't even make it to the playoffs back in '99, but they were able to snag the 8th seed and pulled an upset against the Miami Heat in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals in a great Knicks moment. They had all the momentaum going into the NBA Finals and I was 100% sure they would win it all. Then San Antonio Spurs absolutely destroy the Knicks. It was made even the more painful, when in the final seconds in game 5, the Knicks were down by 1 point. All the Knicks had to do was throw one more ball into the basket and there would be a Game 6. But instead, Latrell Spreewell got the ball and shot an airball with 2 seconds left. That was just depressing to watch and is my 2nd Most Painful Sports Memory (behind Game 7 of the 2001 World Series). -The Knicks lost in the 2001 Eastern Conference Quarter-Finals and their collaspe the next year. They don't even look like they will even make the playoffs for the next few years. -The New Jersey Nets losing the 2002 and 2003 NBA Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs was also heartbreaking considering how close they came to winning.
-
Well, so much for more "Yankee Magic".
-
I think I just saw Christy Romano in the crowd!
-
Game 5 and Game 6 of the 1999 NLCS are indeed fierce games that are ledgendary Mets games. I was on my feet for both games. I was heartbroken when the Mets lost because I was actually rooting for them to win so that we could have a Mets vs. Yankees World Series. Oh well, the Subway Series happened the next year.

1996 was interesting because of the Yankees returning and winning the World Series for the first time in 18 years. Plus, it had the Joe Torre subplot with his brother dying and his other brother having a heart transplant and surviving. I didn't actually find the 1998 season to be boring. Of course, that's because I'm a Yankee fan. I actually believe 1998 was probalby the best season to be a Yankees fan. The 1998 playoffs and World Series was just the continuation of the overall incredible year the Yankees had where they won 114 games and many proclaim that team to be the greatest baseball team ever. The sweep against the Padres was actually the perfect ending to the 1998 season as the '98 season belonged to the New York Yankees although the whole country was interested in the Mark McGuire/Sammy Sosa homerun chase. 1999, I admit, wasn't as great as 1998 for the Yankees or baseball in general. Sure the Yankees won the World Series but everyone bascially predicted it. It basically added the "Team of the Century" tag to the Yankees. The 2000 World Series wasn't interesting for the rest of the country, but in New York, it was headline news. The 2000 World Series is one of my personal favorites because as a native New Yorker, I always wanted to see a Yankees vs. Mets World Series. It was a great World Series for me, personally, especially when the Yankees beat the Mets in 5 games proving to Mets fans everywhere that the Yankees were indeed the better team. Truly a great moment for Yankee fans. And considering how bad the Mets are playing, the 2000 World Series maybe the only Subway Series I'll see in my lifetime. And I find it funny that the only year (2001) where the entire country was actually rooting for the Yankees to win, was the year that they lost.
-
Anglesault, why do you think the 1999 Yankees was a nice story?
-
Colombian Heat will make his OaOasT debut taking on Blurricane in a match to be written by LaParkaYourCar.
-
All the characters from King of the Hill deserve to be on that list. What was the appeal to that show? I never found one episode funny. And making fun of redneck southerners is nothing original. Here are my nominations: -That "Heart" kid from Captain Planet -All the characters from Pokemon, Digimon, and all the other Japaneese anime shows -Spongebob Squarepants -Dil and Kimmy from the Rugrats

What WWE Pay Per Views have you Skipped?
Ed Wood Caulfield replied to The Mandarin's topic in The WWE Folder
No Way Out 2003: Wanted to see it, but did not have the money. I was able to catch the Rock/Hogan match for free by pasting that code I found on TSM to my Windows Media Player. Backlash: Wasn't interested even though I am a big Rock mark. Nothing else even remotely interested me. Judgment Day: Wanted to order it, but on the day of the PPV, just forgot. Bad Blood: Did not have the money. (A blessing in disguise?) Vengenace: Was on vacation in Orlando, Florida. Although since the hotel I was staying in had an internet connection, I was able to read the results on this forum. Unforgiven: Wanted to order it, but did not care enough to actually order it. All the rest I've seen. I MAY order No Mercy this month just because it's a SmackDown pay-per-view. -
-Puerto Rican Lightning and Blurricane segments to hype their match at World Without End. -I'm also willing to have a match with someone. I could put the Puerto Rican Championship on the line. -I will also write a pay-per-view rundown since this is the last IZ before World Without End.
-
I need some more time to do my segment. I SHOULD have it in by 4 or 5 a.m.
-
I'll have my stuff in in about a hour or a hour and a half.

Make sure your character stats are updated
Ed Wood Caulfield replied to LaParkaYourCar's topic in Brandon Truitt
LPYC, I updated PRL and the Lightning Crew's stats. Check them out in the IZ Folder in the IZ Character Specs thread. -
Puerto Rican Lightning will introduce the two men who helped him win the NA Title match last week. Who is writing the IZ-5 Rankings match?
-
Great, great show. Long and filled with action. I enjoyed it. Was anyone actually suprised at the ending for the NA Title match? If you're wondering, the referee joining the Lightning Crew was inspired by Shane McMahon's heel turn at Survivor Series 1998: Deadly Game when he turned on Stone Cold by flipping him off. The other man interfering was my own idea. There will be more people joining the Lightning Crew in the upcoming weeks. Just you wait! I have an idea for a stable name for Dan Black's stable: How about the "Blackhearts"?
-
I just sent you a segment. The main event is coming in about 2 1/2 hours.
-
I'll be sending the North American Title match right before 8:45 tonight.
-
The main event is Puerto Rican Lightning vs. "Shooter" Jay Darring for the North American Title and the final slot in the Intense Five Tournament.

If you could relive one year of your life...
Ed Wood Caulfield replied to Papacita's topic in General Chat
I actually have several choices: First would be 1994. I was 6 at the time and due to the fact that I was a little kid and was in 1st grade, I didn't have alot to worry so and life and school were easy. Plus alot of really cool things happened in 1994: 2Pac and Biggie Smalls dominating hip-hop. The beginning of the rise of the New York Yankees (They were in the playoff hunt before the baseball strike). The golden years of Saturday Night Live (Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, Phil Hartman). WrestleMania X. The Bret vs. Owen feud. The golden era of The Simpsons. MST3K on Comedy Central. The New York Yankees winning the Stanley Cup and the New York Knicks making it to the NBA Finals (and the Knicks-Mania that came with it. I still remember the song "Go, NY, Go, NY!") It wasn't perfect by any means (The O.J. Simpsons Trial. The MLB Strike. Lots of crap in the WWF. The whole Tanya Harding-Nancy Kerrigan scandal). But it was a great time for me and a great time for the world in general. It was also the 2nd to last year from my childhood that didn't have an earth-shattering life changing events happen (1996 was the last). If I could change things from 1994 with the knowlege I had now, I would probalby make myself spend more time with my friends. And I would record episodes of MST3K on Comedy Central so that I wouldn't be searching and buying episodes from the internet right now in the year 2003. But the years I would most like to go back to would defintley have to be either 1998 or 1999. Or more specifically September 1998-September 1999. That was when I was 11 and had to repeat the 5th grade. At first, I thought it would be a total nightmare having to repeat 5th grade, but I was proven wrong as 5th grade was the best year of elementary school for me. It wasn't perfect by any means (Boybands ruling the earth. Britney, Christina, etc. The fall of WCW. The end of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace was a big disappointment. The Knicks failing to win the NBA Finals.) Yet, it was still the best year of my childhood. I loved every day I was in 5th grade because I was in love with this girl in my class. I also made a ton of friends at my school. The good outweigh the bad (The Yankees dominace. Stone Cold and The Rock. The Simpsons still ruling. Some good music out in 1999 including my all time favorite song "Get What You Give" by the New Radicals. The amount of time I spent with my cousins. The fun I had with my cousins). Like I said, 1999 wasn't perfect, so if I could change things from 1999: First, it would be to record all the episodes of MST3K shown on the Sci-Fi Channel before the rights expired so that I wouldn't be searching for these very episodes today in 2003. Next, I would change the amount of time I spent with my friends. I hardly spent time with my friends outside of school and didn't even bother to contact them after 5th grade ended which hurt my friendships once 6th grade started. I spent more time with my cousins then I did with my friends. Finally, the most important thing I would change is the way I tried to get the girl I loved back in 5th grade. All I did was stare at her in class and that was it. The staring freaked her out. That killed any chance I had with her as she claimed that I was smothering her to the point of her hating me. I would change how I approached her. I would not stare at her as much and would be more relaxed when I talked to her. I would also HAVE the guts to talk to her and maybe even asked her out on a a date. I still wonder what might have been if I had acted different with her. Maybe she could have actually been the one. It still bugs me to this day. -
I'm in. Does the fact that in storylines, PRL is friends with Calvin Szechstein affect PRL's ranking?
-
I was unable to send it in this week so I'll try again next week. -Puerto Rican Lightning victory speech where PRL debuts his brand spanking new entrance. And how's THIS for a main event for the season premiere? OaOasT North American Championship Match Puerto Rican Lightning vs. "Shooter" Jay Darring
