I don't have a problem with people getting fired if they suck and are a waste of money. That's true for any job. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They still have to eat though. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's like that quote by Moss, or Owens, or someone like that, who said something similar during a contract spat. In all seriousness, is anyone supposed to feel sorry for these guys that they didn't budget their money wisely to the point that they couldn't afford basic necessities? I expect the lot of them to have opened up savings accounts or something like that, so that they could have money for a bit. Not to mention that WWE probably dangled a No-Compete in front of their faces, meaning that if they accept it, they get paid for a while yet to come while they line up other work. Speaking of work, if you were a decent name in WWE with some recognizability, while the work isn't guaranteed, you'll still be alright in the indys or Japan. Getting released by WWE isn't the end of the world, and this type of stuff is the nature of any type of business.
-
If WWE sticks to their word and finally brings back Noble (yeah, right) all releases up to this point are hereby absolved.
-
Then they better hope all this isn't to make room for a bit of indy raiding, like what they've been doing by going after Joe, Punk and Danielson.

Some beef and oriental ramen that I accidentally left in the pot for too long, to the point where there was hardly any water left. And a Pepsi.

Who cares about character. Hell Yokozuna got to the point he was staring at the camera giving promos when all he could say was bonzai. Undertaker is from death vally again, being the walking dead and all, when he was a tobacco chewing redneck from texas a while back. Aiko, or Jimmy is from Atlanta. he can speak english. In fact he sounds like a fucking hick. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Eh. Granted... Still, Yokozuna had years for that kind of development (though I wasn't watching at the time, so I'll go with it) and Taker's changes from dead guy to satanic leader to redneck biker back to dead guy were all awfully ridiculous things that succeeded against all odds and 'logic.' And I know all that about Yang, but for all we know the audience at large doesn't and were never given a reason to believe otherwise. In all, we'll just agree that I stuck my foot in my mouth with my statement. Anyway, onto other thoughts, the Dudleys release was a shock. Even if their contracts expire in no more than a couple months, at least they could've squeezed a feud out with MNM in that time, and they're still over and can sell merchandise. I'm gonna miss Haas, WWE dropped the ball on him when they split him up from Jackie, he was over before then with very minimal effort. But hopefully he (and maybe Jackie) will show up in TNA or ROH, and if he does, I think he'll be big.

Meh. He ain't that great. Rather average, I think, but he at least won't embarass himself. I think there are just better choices for this potential role out there through re-signing Stambolli (though he seems to be doing good for himself in Japan) and Tony Mamaluke.

This is great. Whether he's on Raw or SmackDown, WWE needs him badly. I wasn't even much of a fan until his character went nuts, throwing Gowan down the stairs, stealing Austin's ATV and all that, then when he left I realized how much he really brought to the table. He could even cut a decent crazy promo, I thought. Yeah, I agree, he'd be much more useful on SD and should wind up there, though he'll probably show up on Raw for the first few weeks of his return, at least.

Huh, so it's real. I thought it was nothing more than a series of stupid commercial bumps.

I've always liked Kidman, but once he appeared to put on 10-15 pounds, and dropped the shorts and wifebeater, he became just another wrestler with nothing to set him apart aside from the SSP. I always hoped he'd return to form, but injuries just killed him anytime he got some momentum, such as the abrupt ending to the otherwise enjoyable London/Kidman feud that should've made something of them both. Too bad, because I think WWE did legitimately like him, giving him a lot of chances to break through. Heel Spike was great, even after they botched his and the Dudley's characters once he started slapping around D-Von and Bubba. Unfortunately once they were taken off TV and he lost his title -- to Funaki, I think, which is just adding insult to injury -- there went his character. This was basically the only time I liked him outside of ECW. I think there was a lot of untapped potential in Akio. The movie star and martial artist monk was a great character, and he had unique moves that could've easily gotten him over, if only they would've given him a chance. After the series with London, he should've been in the thick of the title hunt. Unfortunately there was only so far you could take him, given that his character from the very start spoke no English. I basically care about no one else. Yeah, moving Chavo to Raw and not even getting Tajiri (who I think could be next on the chopping block) back for him, then releasing all these guys... they're not even trying anymore. Although they could easily bring up Punk, Kazarian and Cappotelli (finally) to fill the void.

Speaking of stuff and people like Jack Flash, what became of Cash and Cyclone?

Edit... I could've sworn I posted what used to be here in another thread, where I meant to put it in the first place. I'm dumb.

Not just seasons, but rather, different series that had nothing to do with each other. As a means to tie everything together, that's where the whole protoculture plot point comes in. Yeah, Battle of the Planets and G-Force aren't nearly as bad as that, despite a lot of edits (BotP turned Keyop into a babbling idiot, had the more violent scenes removed and replaced with filler and Zark stuff, while G-Force left the deleted scenes intact, but as I understand it, the soundtrack was replaced by some really awful music). Although Eagle Riders was spliced together from two Gatchaman series, much the same way Robotech was... and by most accounts it was terrible.

Not enough people are named Barnaby. Should I ever have a brat, I want that for one of his names.
-
I suppose the change makes sense after the attacks by the Mexicools, but it's still pretty ridiculous. Either way, he'll be fired or back to being Chavo within a year.
-
We don't like his kind 'round here.
-
Yeah, and come to think of it, I believe Scion may have had ads at some point also. That's it, close the thread now.

NASCAR also has an unfathomable following which WWE can't currently compete with and a long, mutually beneficial relationship with car and parts manufacturers. Compared to NASCAR, these companies have virtually nothing to gain in a relationship with WWE.
-
Basically. If WWE doesn't take themselves and their product seriously and continue to perpetuate the stereotype, then why should the advertisers flock to them?
-
So be honest, what do you really think about me?

Wrestling is super gay, And I like Kotz. I still don't get what he did as a mod or otherwise to make people dislike him so much. -
No one is obligated to go over everything Roenick said, but one should at least mention whatever comment or question it was that set off Roenick, so as to establish some context and fairness (too much to ask of the media, I know). It takes, at most, one extra line to do so. The way the article is put together, you're under the impression that Roenick came out from the beginning with guns blazing, with no rhyme or reason. Still, he's definitely an ass. The question that was asked, which was finally covered on SportsCenter tonight, could've been handled much better.

Too goddamn long.

SWF Smarkdown Card for Monday, June 27, 2005!
Golgo 13 replied to Ace309's topic in Smarks Wrestling Federation
Griffon and I are available, we just haven't been booked to tag since the TLC Match. And if they don't object, Johnson and Pretzler can be conceivably teamed up now and then. -
I don't remember whether I needed a plug-in or not, but Quintessential Player did the job for me a few months back.

SWF STATS THREAD, Summer 2005 Edition

New Year's Update~ ---------- TSM Name: atomsk Wrestler Name: Manson Nick Name(s): The Stampede, The Raging Bull Height: 6'0 Weight: 260 Age: 26 Hometown: Denver, Colorado Alignment: Heel Tag Partner: No. Ring Escort: Nope. Weapons: Bullrope, Steel Chair Taunt: Stomping, Spitting, Snot Rocket, Metal Horns, The Bird Quote: None. Looks: White. Dark eyes, long black hair, and a thick Bruiser Brody-esque beard. He's built well, with a wide, stocky frame, and is quite muscular. Despite his size, he looks natural and proportioned, as much as someone his size can be, anyway. He has tribal flame tattoos which run from his hands to his forearms, although they're mostly obscured during matches. He pretty much always looks surly about something and is extremely imposing and intimidating. Ring Entrance: The house lights dim and 'Crusher Destroyer' by Mastodon crashes through the speakers, as multi-colored strobes pulse and flash in time with the music. Manson walks out to the boos and hisses of the fans and heads down the ramp, thoroughly ignoring the crowd as he does so. He rolls into the ring and stands, heading straight for his corner and anxiously waiting for the start of the match. However, he may be the aggressor and may even attack before the bell, if you feel so inclined. Attributes: Strength: 7 (Feel the POWER. His strikes pack a wallop and he's capable of routinely lifting most. Not many in the fed can beat him in pure strength) Speed: 3 (He's not all that slow. Rather, due to his style he simply doesn't need to dart about the ring. His speed mostly goes into his reactions, reflexes and straight line speed) Vitality: 6 (Blame the break for his drop here. He's still tough and ridiculously stubborn, however. He can handle hardcore with ease and won't give into a submission without a fight. Should you manage to knock him down, you better get on him fast) Charisma: 4 (He can cut an decent promo, but he doesn't speak very often. Mainly relies on his actions and ringwork to get over. He has a rough, gravelly voice and will curse) Style: Manson is a serious, absolutely relentless blue collar worker who will never say die. He truly doesn't know the meaning of restraint and is totally reckless with no regard for his or his opponent's well being. He is willing to win at all costs or maim his opponent in lieu of a victory. However, he's extremely prone to being too aggressive or losing his temper. More often than not he'll rely on his brute strength and wild brawling style. Even when in a tight spot, he'll give no second thought to other strategies, confident that what he knows best will pull him through. He just prefers to throw his opponent around and beat the snot out of them. His mat and chain wrestling is merely okay. It's often simplistic, though effective. It gets him by against less learned opponents, but he won't hold out for long against the better, more accomplished technical mat guys of the fed like Hawke, Johnson, King, etc. He loves to taunt his opponents. He just likes being a dick. This may include any of those indicated above, bitchslapping his opponent or other assorted rudeness. He also has no qualms about cheating or fighting dirty, whatever gets the win, but he isn't cowardly in the least and will never back down from confrontation. Signature Moves: 1) STO 2) Powerbomb 3) Tiger Suplex 4) Dragon Suplex 5) Moss Covered Three Handled Family Credenza (Spinning Fisherman's Suplex) 6) Uranage Suplex 7) Argentine Backbreaker 8) Gamengiri 9) Rolling Elbow 10) Face Wash Common Moves: 1) Hot Shot 2) Powerslam 3) Rib Breaker 4) German Suplex 5) Backdrop Suplex 6) Belly to Belly Slam 7) Overhead Belly to Belly Suplex 8) Suicide Dive 9) Short Chops to Neck 10) Strikes (Punches, Elbow Smashes, Knife Edge Chops) 11) Knees (Knee Lift, Knee Drop, Running Knee, Triple H High Knee) Rare Moves: 1) Savage Elbow 2) Endsmouth (Elevated Half Crab. Accompanied by Manson stepping on his opponent's head) Finishers: 1) Western Lariat 2) Muscle Buster Notes: Manson is bitter, angry, violent, at times selfish, overly confident, slightly paranoid, and undeniably awesome. If you do deny it, he'll kick your fucking teeth in. He has quite the nasty streak and is a dangerous man with zero remorse for his opponents or others who may get in his way. However, he may still be a favorite in his hometown or when fighting mega heels the likes of Magnifico and his style is strangely endearing ala Samoa Joe or TKO. His views and perception are skewed, but he does have an admirable passion, spirit and work ethic. He wants to prove himself to be the best and will go through anyone to do it, but win or lose, he'll take great pleasure in hurting his opponent in the process. Bio: Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, and trained in Calgary. Wrestled around the world, with stints in Japan, Europe, Mexico, and the American independants. He quickly gains a following and is something of a prodigy, but he injures his neck in Mexico. He rehabs, signing with the IGNWF and making his IGNJL debut on November 7, 2001 as 'The Mafia' Tommy Gunn. He shortens his name to Mafia only, and later takes part in the Havoc stable, which upon its collapse, he takes part in forming The New Sound. After a leave in the Summer of 2002, during which The New Sound became the sWo, he returned in August as Manson, now a face. Unfortunately, after beating Flexx in a Cage Match at Genesis, he was injured in a match with Wildchild. In 2003 he returned as a heel, turned face later and remained so until late 2004, when he would turn heel again. In early 2004, the SJL shuts down, but Manson doesn't remain for long, leaving for Japan. He comes back later in the year, eventually winning the USJL Championship from The Masked Man on July 21st. At Ground Zero, he successfully defends against Max King, only to be injured by him the show after. He wears a knee brace for a time as a result. King then costs him his title against Vladimir Everheart and Manson goes on to beat King at Genesis in a Caged Fury Match. Shortly before Ashes 2 Ashes he attacks Kibagami, turning heel, but the A2A match is off as Kibagami disappears and Manson simply continues his battles against Revolution Zero. His brief heel turn done with, he remains face, forming a tag team at some point in 2005 with Arch Griffon. On May 28, he wins the Hardcore Title from Insane Luchador, only for IL to gain it back a few days later. His tag team with Griffon and their rise to the top is then cut short as Griffon is taken off the road. Just prior to Ashes 2 Ashes he nearly murdered Spike Jenkins, causing crowd support to lessen. Then much like the year before, he turns full heel and remains so going into 2006.
