  1. Jon, I'm curious as to what this girl looks like. You can pm pics to me, should decorum dictate such.
  2. And the use of language and sentence structure plays just as crucial a part in poetry as it does in prose. I've said elsewhere that I've never been big into poetry, but I know good writing when I see it. Jon's junkie ex-gf is capable of good writing, but she needs some polish.
  3. That shows some selective reading, Curry.
  4. This is about as far as I thought I'd get.
  5. Tell her to ditch the smack and get high on college.
  6. Large concentration of people with the worst taste. I'm sure other folders here follow suit, but I don't go into those. And Coat, have you seen The Holy Mountain? That's screening here a week after El Topo, so I'll be checking that out, too. The only Jodorowsky I've seen while not under the influence of mind-altering substances was Santa Sangre, which I liked a whole bunch.
  7. That second one was pretty not good, though some evidence of talent still shone through. If she already hasn't, she should take some poetry workshops. Help her put some shape to her work. Pass that on to her, Jon.
  8. I didn't want to start a thread or post in the TV/movie folder at all, really, but I'm excited about the screening of El Topo here in town next week. The one time I saw it, eight years ago, doesn't count, given that I was way stoned and the copy was a vhs badly dubbed from a Japanese laserdisc.
  9. I'm fine with other people calling Give Em Enough Rope a sophomore slump. I wouldn't call it that myself, though, as I happen to like it better than the debut, which I don't care much for at all.
  10. I like it, but EITS is definitely working a formula, one that'll likely wear thin if they don't change up their sound on the next album. However, I saw them this past Monday and the songs sounded much better live ("So Long, Lonesome" was particularly moving.)
  11. While I wait for an answer, that Live at Massey Hall 1971 set that came out this week is really nice.
  12. Christ, dude. You serious?
  13. I respectfully dissent. I don't find my comment as amusing as I did over two years ago, but I guess I'd still say that.
  14. A little clunky in spots, but that really wasn't that bad.
  15. That wasn't so much a joke as it was an argument over philosophical differences.
  16. Sophomore albums that aren't as good as the debut isn't the same as not being good at all. "Not the best way to follow up their debut" doesn't necessarily mean a slump.
  17. Thread turned awful in the last 24 hours. Both Czech and Chave should spend a little time away from the internet. And that's not a knock on either guy.
  18. Good thread.
  19. Dear Board Friends, Should I become the first martyr in all this, please do what you can to have me canonized. Your pal, Incandenza
  20. You leave him out of it, this is about you and me. You scared?
  21. jsyk voted against me, huh?
  22. What? For the record, I think a lot of the relatively straight amplified blues on the s/t is kinda boring.
  23. Well, you're about 15 years out-of-date on your ebonics slang, then, chave.
  24. I like Adventure; the highs are not as high as on Marquee Moon, but it is more consistent. I don't always listen to MM all the way through; I often stop after the title track.
  25. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Century_Club I did this a few years ago and got so wrecked. The Atomic variant of the game sounds insane.
