You missed all the changes they made at the meetings in Las Vegas during the All-Star break, then. They've already addressed this issue.
And hell yes, I'd miss the NHL. I'd watch the CHL if it was put on in its place, but not the AHL. They need to implement an NBA-style agreement where the players are guaranteed x% of league revenues in salary, or else there are implications for the league (along with some kind of cap).
I didn't miss the changes. I'm wondering if the changes are really go make any difference at all. The league can increase the goalies padding but has long as a majority of teams are defense first.
Also, what about contraction does it happen? Is it even being discussed?
