If he paid any attention to WCW he would know who Ultimo Dragon is. -
Ultimate Warrior MAY Return Again!!
The Czech Republic replied to ANKLELOCK's topic in The WWE Folder
I suggest that if the Ultimate Warrior returns, his entrance music is "Free Falling." -
Take it from me, don't lose control, or you're gonna have to deal with the Beach Patrol.

Wheeling, West Virginia is probably better than Wheeling, Illinois. -

Ah, Joliet. Where are you now? Yeah, I guess I don't listen to enough late-night Loop. I've been listening to a lot more of The Drive lately, to be honest. I remember a lot of local radio enthusiasts bemoaning the loss of the only classical station in Chicago, WNIB I think, and what we got as a replacement has been one of the most popular stations in the city, now expanding its listening fanbase all the way up into Milwaukee. -
It's been just about ten years since I first played an incarnation of Street Fighter II. To this day, amongst my friends, I am unbeatable at the SNES version of Super Street Fighter II. I think that Super Street Fighter II, the last incarnation in 16-bit, is the best fighting game for that platform, and best of the SFs. 16 great characters, better music for the most part (I would have retooled Zangief's stage to represent downtown Moscow or something as the Soviet Union was gone by '94), and a challenging game altogether. My only beef is a playable boss, they should have made Akuma be the final boss of the game. M. Bison sucks, and is easier than Sagat. The reason I have such success with Street FIghter II is by using the trap offense. Like the Devils' strategy of the same name, the trap allows me to achieve maximum success with minimal talent. While some people are combo-crazy and like to show off, while others prefer a wide-open fight with lots of fireballs and such, I resort to cornering my opponent and unleashing a barrage of jump-kicks and throws over and over, allowing me a close-to-perfect or perfect win in an average of 12 seconds. Vega and Fei Long are particularly good with this fighting style. The only gap in this strategy, and it is a major one, is that if somebody can bust out of the trap with some move that hits me and knocks me back, I'm SOL. Sumo Bitchslaps, Shoryukens, and anything Blanka does can screw with me. So let's discuss how we play this fine game. And if you say I'm cheap for trapping, I'm not as cheap as those bastards that sit there going "HadokenHadokenHadokenHadoken" all the time.

Short lived TV shows no one seems to remember

The Super Mario Super Show with Captain Lou Albano. I keep telling people about it and they don't remember. Press Your Luck. Nobody I talk to acknowledges the existence of Press Your Luck. They tell me such a concept never was. The Critic is one that I bet most people don't know, but my friends, as well as a few cousins of mine, are huge fans of the show. I watched it in its first run on Fox, and at my age, it almost completely went over my head. -
The One and Only VELOCIDENTIAL Thread for 08.23.03

Stealing my job...at least come up with a witty name for the thread. So will Shelton Benjamin take exception to being compared to Linda Miles? As long as it doesn't mean the APA wins the titles at Summerslam. -

That's what I told my math teacher. -
It wouldn't have hurt if they hadn't filled it up with WCW guys. Austin shocked me, didn't see that one coming, but Christian? I think the ECW thing kind of ruined it a bit, too. They did good bringing in Dreamer and Van Dam, and it gave the WWF jobbers a chance to look like a threat, but if they had gone with Foley as ECW mouthpiece instead of Stephanie, they could have blown the roof off the place. We haven't seen a serious Mick heel turn in..... ???????? Instead, they had Foley referee matches. Feh. Yeah, in the WCW/ECW Alliance, why were most of the main guys from neither? I think this is why they had to stop doing individual chyrons (the star thingy for WCW guys, the purple barbed wire for ECW guys) for entrances because nobody was really an authentic WCW or ECW wrestler anymore.

I didn't see Here Comes The Hotstepper on there! Now THAT is a good rap song. I liked Forgot About Dre back in 8th grade for the background.

I think a lot of people, myself included, are "sXe excluding caffeine." Might as well be its own lifestyle separate from sXe...sXeXC. -
I like the one that has a big wall of numbered flippy boxes (also seen on the $25,000 Pyramid.) and you pick them and win money. Sometimes it says Car. Wait, that's the show you're talking about.

If they can make ghey = lame at WDI...

I like that. If I had my own phone line, that would be on there. But I don't, so eh. -
I too, have heard a song or two, but not much. Some people at school were wearing Dropkick Murphys shirts, so my interest was piqued, as their shirts had gotten me into The Clash, The Dead Kennedys, and other good punk bands.

I think I remember Hoosier Millionaire! Was that one ever on WGBO 66 out of Gary before they format-switched with WCIU and went Spanish?

I see. Ouch. It's weird, you can tell there's a huge disparity in talent between Chicago DJs and Milwaukee DJs, as well as television hosts, for that matter. The Milwaukee stations just have a bush-league feel to them while the Chicago stations are much more slick and btter produced. Of course, this makes sense, because Chicago, L.A., and New York are the Big 3 markets that radio and television hopefuls spend a good part of their careers working their way up to. Nobody sets their heart on making it to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The California Governor Race Is The Best Ever
The Czech Republic replied to Nevermortal's topic in General Chat
The best race is the human race. Go Homestar Governor! Everybody, everybody should vote for him, and Marshie for lieutenant governor. -
You're such a kidder. Whoa! It's the merger we've all been clamoring for!

Which market are you in AoO? I get Chicago and Milwaukee and other smaller ones in between...it's the worst of both worlds. I remember once on channel 50 in Chicago (now a UPN affiliate) they did a program called "Radio Faces" where they would show random morning shows in the city with cameras in the studios so you could see what your favorite DJs looked like. This was around 1994, 1995. In specific, they showed Mancow Muller (going by his full name at the time, and I don't think he was at Q101), Steve Dahl, et al. The reason I bring this up is because the woman who read the news on B96's morning show, which I listened to at the time, was deceptively like 350 pounds. I was shocked, and frankly a little disgusted.

I was up late a few nights ago, around 3 or 4 a.m. I tuned into the Loop, 97.9 FM for those of you in greater Chicago. They were playing "Goodbye Blue Sky" from The Wall. However, instead of going into Empty Spaces, as one would expect, they went into Hey You, which went into Another Brick In The Wall Part 1, which went into Young Lust, and so on in this fashion. They played The Wall completely out of order, and forsome reason, their sequence ended up being pretty cool. Apparently someone went out of their way to edit it because it wasn't just like hitting Shuffle on the CD player. Is this something a lot of stations do and have been doing since its release in '79?

I would based on its diversity. There's pretty much something on there for everyone, from proto-metal stuff like "One of these days" to a stupid pop ditty in "San Tropez." Let's not forget "Echoes" the massive progressive epic. "Seamus" is a nice little bluesy kind of song, and "A Pillow of Winds" sounds exactly like its title. Great, GREAT album. Floyd's best in my book. WYWH is completely inferior to Dark Side. They were travelling down the long pretentious road of aging and turmoil at that point, and I think it shows on the album. Everyone knows the title track well enough, but the rest of the album really leaves me wanting something else. Welcome To The Machine and Have A Cigar are great songs. There are a few boring parts of SOYCD, which are mostly at the beginning. The funkier part, I'm inclined to say Part 8, is a favorite of mine. I'd list Dark Side, WWYH, and The Wall as essential. Whoever said Another Brick Part 1 was bad was stupid. 2 is the worst one, naturally. It goes 3, 1, 2. (Also: Chicago's area code)
