"Note to Self: Don't Die" is a nice little grunge number, but the rest of the album doesn't really stand out to me. It's basically an album full of background music. It's really hard for me to grasp that Rock N' Roll is an album by the same guy who released great CDs with Whiskeytown, as well as the pure genius that was his first solo album. It boggles my mind. The Gram Parsons comparisons stop after Heartbreaker, I've noticed.

People, they just don't know talent now-a-days. Dean Martin Guy has made it through thus far based on what? Notice how they haven't shown much footage of him? My guess is that they're saving it, so that it'll be a huge "surprise" when he blows all the other contests out of the water. Judging by his voice and his look, he could be the next Dean Martin. Plus, he's only sixteen, so all of the older viewers will vote for him based on who he reminds them of, and the younger viewers will think he's cute or something. But even if he gets voted off, I bet he gets a record deal.
