Needed: Five Characters for a month's period
Phoenix Fury Legdrop replied to Phoenix Fury Legdrop's topic in Brandon Truitt
So we got: Rodez, Cappa, Drek, Dismachine, Slasherflick, and the sixth guy. That's fine. I'll write a segment for next week's show basically introducing it and its details and such. -
Ladies and gents, we have a crisis on our hands. We currently live in a world without any Adam Gooch involvement. This saddens us, the Paradise City Ninjas, quite a bit. A world without Adam Gooch is like a woman without a vagina, Freaks and Geeks without Martin Starr, or even a kangaroo without a tail. It just ain't right. As ninjas hailing from Paradise City, we are taking it upon ourselves to do something about this. This is where you, the person reading this, comes into play. We need Adam Gooch back in the IWA. Sure, nerdy Inter'web petitions haven't worked outside of getting Brian Heffron his job with the WWeeeeee back, but we can wish, can't we? Actually, this isn't techncially a petition. It's more like a "really awesome list of names supporting the PCN's cause to bring the awesomeness of Adam Gooch back into our lives." So, please help us by posting after this saying "My name is ________, and I want Adam Gooch back in the IWA." Or, if you have a better idea to aid our cause, let us know. We like people, and sometimes we like their ideas as well. Please have a soul, as only you can help prevent our lives from being sad for one less day by helping out in our mission. Thank you, and Sal Bless.

Needed: Five Characters for a month's period

Drek's volunteered to help recruit thus far as well, so some other people might be filled in using those needs. So far, the only two I know for sure are in are Drek and Cappa. -

Both can be used if necessary. By the way, I'm not writing anything about this round-robin tournament, other than probably the introduction that it will happen. PM me for details. -
If possible, can five people volunteer their characters for a round-robin thing that's been planned for at least one month's worth of HD for a little while now. NYU already volunteered Drek (back when it was supposed to be two four-man blocks instead of one six-man round robin).

I'll use them in big feud matches, but I hate seeing them in every match; some get almost parody-like sometimes.

Man, with each and every day passing by, IWA is making living in the completely useless and boring state of Indiana a little bit better. -

Could Someone Explain Too Me A Few Gimmicks..
Phoenix Fury Legdrop replied to natey2k4's topic in General Wrestling
Jacobs originally did a gimmick based on John Nord's Berserker character in the WWF, walking around wearing furry boots, and barking "HUSS!" repeatedly while stomping around and holding his wrist. He recently stopped doing the gimmick due to its staleness, and after adopting a gimmick based on John Cusack's character in the film "Say Anything", has since just been going as himself; nothing more and nothing less. -
Dude, seriously...we hire Dynamite Kido to write quite the quality ROH reviews, we got Rob Naylor on-board, McGovern's coming around to the ROH product again, and Jay gave quite the positive review of the ROH show in Boston on Saturday. What else must we do before we can get one thread about a PCN article not bring up our "anti-ROH bias"? Attend the Church of Gabe like the lemmings on the ROH board do? I personally will always be pro-ROH wrestlers and matches (for the most part), anti-the rest of ROH, but everyone else on the site is either a big fan or is re-becoming big fans of ROH.

The Wild Cards are f*cking awesome

Same guy. At least that incident got rid of the last original anti-Hero mark. -

The "hat down the pants" schtick HAS to be a rib on the douchebag who they messed with at the July IWA show in Lafayette. -
I think it was an 810 Splash, as I heard he's been saying he's wanted to do one off of the Scramble Cage for a while. SHILL: Expect a live report from PCN member Jay Doring sometime today or tomorrow from this show.

A review of Chris Hero vs. Bryan Danielson
Phoenix Fury Legdrop replied to JoeDirt's topic in General Wrestling
Yeah, you can almost tell just from walking in that there's a lot of people there who hadn't really seen IWA (or in some cases even HEARD of IWA) before IWA started coming to Highland who come for the big names from ROH, and see Chris Hero as someone who's "minor league" but being pushed as being on the same level as Dragon and Joe. It's almost like the Rocky Maivia push in the WWF in 1996, only the fans in Highland have no reason to be so uneducated. The Cannon/Hero storyline is actually one of my favorites of the year, as it's absolutely based on the in-ring work, and the mic work, while helpful in following along, isn't absolutely necessary. The added touch of Hero saving Cannon's ass from being killed by Team Friday at that Highland show is one of the few twists in any storyline lately that's actually intrigued me, as you honestly cannot tell from that if Hero's turning heel, Cannon's doing a slow burn face turn, or anything. I might get shit for saying this since I'm a Wildside uber-mark at heart through and through, no matter what, (and Wildside does a lot of non in-ring development with their storylines) but it's nice to see a storyline that doesn't need "riots" or fireballs or goofy characters (my arm just got tired from all the ripping on ROH...) to get its point across. It's basically this: Cannon hates Hero, Hero hates Cannon. That's really all you NEED to know, though there's a lot more simplistic depth here, in that Hero sees a lot of himself in Cannon as a wrestler, and is trying to get Arik to try and rely on his incredible skills in the ring instead of being a stinky cheater. Then, you got the "Highland Curse" that Hero has, which gives his arch-nemesis Cannon fuel to make sure Hero can't escape his professional demons in the ring at the Lincoln Center, which has driven Chris to the edge that only his toughest foes in the past (Danny Daniels and CM Punk) have before. Cannon knows that Hero's not exactly succeeded in the past when his temper has the best of him (he lost the IWA Title to both Daniels and Punk at the hottest points of their rivalries), so Cannon knows he has to make the anger build in Hero longer and worse than either Punk or Daniels ever had, which makes Hero easy pickings leading into two of the biggest IWA shows of the the year (TPI and the Anniversary Show), which also happen to be in Hero's in-ring hell: Highland. I hope that wasn't too confusing. Also, I agree a lot with your point of view in the article, in that it was a really good match, but it seemed like the build was building to a longer match. That's hopefully where a rematch would come into play... -

Thank you for being much less of a jackass than Tim Cooke was and just automatically assume that all of the match's faults are because Chris Hero "sucks". I actually like this format for you a bit better than your full show reviews; you fleshed out your points really well here. -

I edited my stuff in GCF to take out Caboose, if you hadn't already gotten it re-put into the program (no changes; just Caboose taken out so the format won't be out-of-whack). -

Almost Full Results For IWA-MS 8/21
Phoenix Fury Legdrop replied to Slingshot Suplex's topic in General Wrestling
I'd go at least ***3/4-****. I personally bought into the whole atmosphere and let myself be a mark instead of sitting there and anal-izing stuff like some people do, since Dragon usually seems like one of those types that almost begs for anal-ization (yes, the pun is intended) and I thought it'd be nice to just sit there and soak it all in. Like Joe/Hero, I got an "IWA vs. ROH" vibe from the crowd, but Dragon had the crowd advantage since it almost seems like he's more respected by everyone as just a good wrestler rather than a good wrestler from ROH, and therefore some of the Hero fans cheered for both. -
Almost Full Results For IWA-MS 8/21

TPI will be fucking incredible...that's all I can say. Tank and Iceberg working the Wildcards and Bradley & Boz? I'm diggin' it. Mercedes Martinez's return? I'm there. SALVATORE FUCKIN' RINAURO? My ticket's bought, maaaan. Hero/Dragon...Jesus H. Christ, it was tremendous. Everything you could possibly imagine this match being, it was. Too good for words. I want a Best of 1,000,003 Series NOW. Dragon also had the most badass medieval entrance gear ever, which he so needs to sell at shows. That, and the "I MUST Break You" shirt he wore at ROH a few months back. I personally thought Punk/B-Boy was really disappointing, but that might be more due to my disliking of Punk the past few months than anything else. I sure hope that Punk/Aries in TPI is good. Adam motherfuckin' Pearce in IWA Mid-South...thank you Ian, DP, Jesus, Allah, and everyone else who made this possible. I literally jumped out of my seat when "Freebird" started up. Then, he beat the living crap out of poor Justin Kage, who looked like Jamie Noble's younger brother in his blue tights. If it weren't for John Calvin (Ian's young son) accidentally spitting on the jackasses behind us who were yelling out absolutely retarded shit like "Ian, why ya bleedin'? It ain't part of the storyline!" all fucking night, this would be my markout moment of the night. There's more hardcore Internet marks than I thought usually come to IWA shows there last night, as the place ERUPTED when Ian announced that Super Dragon was coming in for TPI. If you like your flippy shit flippy, then you'll love Sydal/Webb. The flippiness started before the match even started, as they had dueling flip contests during the "OOOOOH YEEEAAAAH!" parts of "Teenage Dirtbag". Nate also busted out the sequel to Soylent Green; Soylent Green 2: It's STILL People, during the dueling Soylent Green sequences. Ian/Stone was such an awesome brawl, with a finish that came off kind of weird at first, but totally made sense in the scheme of things, as people really truly hate the NWA, and playing off of that hatred is great booking. The falls count anywhere match next month should be great. I'm leaving out so much, but my brain's fried. Some more stuff will probably come back to me later, but this is it until then... By the way, Adam Pearce fucked all your mommas in their assholes, and made you guys as babies, baby! -
