  1. It's Best Original Song. Which implies it's not only composed but written for the movie.
  2. OK Jingus, I've got a question. Let's say someone covers a Rolling Stones song for a movie. It's an exciting rearrangement, nearly unrecognizable from the original and it suits the movie perfectly. Does it to deserve to get nominated for Best Original Song? Not trying to sound snarky, I'm just curious.
  3. I think the song nominated from Chicago was added in for the movie. Not sure about Phantom.
  4. Yeah if you start to nominate non-original songs from film adaptations of stage musical, where is the line drawn? Do we start nominating old Stones songs because they were used well in the latest Scorsese film? No, wait, that's a dumb example...
  5. Chalk me up as another fan of The Crowbar/David Flair/Daffney trio. Everything before and after that just sucked. Despite his suckitude, I felt bad for the guy. He was years and years away from being ready for a push in a major promotion and yet there he was immedietely thrust into the upper mid-card scene. Granted, the pushes were kind of a joke but he wasn't even good enough for that
  6. M.I.A. is Sri Lankan not Indian actually. I'm guessing the Academy didn't nominate The Boss because he's already won Best Original Song for "Streets of Philadelphia"
  7. Yeah, that's the only snub that's really got my blood a boilin'. Two songs from Slumdog Millionaire? I really like the movie but none of the songs were particularly memorable let alone two.
  8. Yeah, really. Though I'm surprised Waltz With Bashir wasn't nominated in that category instead of Best Foreign Film. Then again, last year I was surprised that Persepolis was nominated for Best Animated Feature instead of Best Foreign Film. Oh The Oscars have never really made all that much sense to me. Hence, why I don't understand the anger around these parts when nominations come out. Besides it's not like The Reader will win.
  9. Driving down to Amherst to see this on Friday. Haven't been this excited about a movie since The Dark Knight.
  10. From the sounds of it, they'll still be doing shows there. Just some of the space will be occupied by a gym, am I reading that right?
  11. *bump* I was going to start a new thread about frozen foods but I guess this old one will suffice. Tina's Frozen Burritos are now 2 for a $1. Really miss the days when I could get 3 for a dollar. I'm addicted to The Red Hot Beef variety. I'll have more to add later on the subject being a broke college student who eats a lot of the crap.
  12. Speaking of cheap fashion- I was at the local dollar store picking up some gum and other assorted foodstuffs and they were selling women's underwear there. Who the heck would buy underwear at a dollar store? Though I can't say with 100% certainty that I wouldn't have been tempted by the prospect of $1 boxers.
  13. I think we can all agree that the nWo started off great in the first three or four months of the angle and then slowly and surely went downhill and basically became a joke by the time of the Wolfpac Vs Hollywood angle. Was there ever a formal ending to the nWo angle? I remember Wolfpac and Hollywood reunited in January '99 after The Fingerpoke of Doom and it seemed like the nWo was going to remain the top heel group but then it just sputtered out to the point where Stevie Ray and Vincent were fighting for leadership three or four months later.
  14. I'm sober right now (I got celebratory a night early) but I'll still take you on, limey.
  15. The only thing Jim Belushi did that was worth a damn was The Principal. God damn, do I love that movie.
  16. Forgive me, King. That remark was made purely in jest.
  17. Point taken. I still don't think there's such a thing as a good smelling fart. Geez, we're debating flatulence. What are we? 11?
  18. That PM was supposed to be between us, KOAB, SUPPOSED TO BE BETWEEN JUST YOU AND ME! I should just quit posting now and drink some hot tea or something. My throat hurts from singing "Help Me Rhonda" at the top of my lungs an hour or two ago.
  19. Can't say I won't look back on this night with anything but embarrassment. I randomly called out Sensei John Kreese via PM and very nearly called out Marvinisalunatic by sending him a PM entitled "HEY BALDY!" before common sense prevailed.
  20. I'm too much of a stickler for spelling to accomplish transcendent drunken posting. I should just give up now and look at internet porn!
  21. I don't have a picture of my dick saved on my computer...or do I?
  22. Sorry I sent you that drunken PM, Cheech. Not sure what I even said but I'm 75% sure I sent you something. Clearly, I'm not the intoxicated poster that KOAB is. But cut me some slack, I've only been drinking about six months or so.
  23. bob_barron is a hero to most but he never meant shit to me you see. Straight out racist that sucker was. Motherfuck him and John Wayne.
  24. Tommy Boy and his cameos in Billy Madison and Dirty Work will forever put Chris Farley on the good list.
  25. I'm sorry, Cheech. I'm sorry everybody. First night of the spring semester. Vodka and Crystal Light....wtf was my buddy thinking? WTF was I thinking? Terrible chaser. Especially since the last one was grapefruit! Yeck! KOABoarding hard indeed.
