King Kamala

This is another example of a show that I'm very nostalgiac for. Pretty much any Royal Rumble or Survivor Series up until '94, I have an unabashed love for. This show IMO is kind of underrated. Is the workrate great? No, but the card never really drags (the glaring exception being that stupid Doinks match) and as genius said- Bobby Heenan delivers his last truly great commentary performance. My personal MOTN would probably be the opener. As a mark, The 123 Kid and Marty Jannetty were my favorites so I went crazy when they ended up being the sole survivors. Runner up would be The random ass SMW Tag Team titles match. The main event was one of those matches where the build up to the match was a lot better than the match itself. Though the match was about as good as you can expect for that group.

I don't know if you're into basketball, Kinetic but The Sonics are playing that week against The Rockets and The Nuggets. It's probably their last year in Seattle. I also saw a segment on the Travel Channel about a 24 hour cafe there that serves a 12 egg omelette. Ah found the menu online http://www.bethscafe.com/menu_p1.htm

The only forum he truly sucks in is CE. Everywhere else, he's merely mediocre. That being said, the winner of the Worst Poster Tournament shouldn't go unpunished. Give him a stupid title or something.

Was anybody else's elementary school into Spin Fighters? Those were the shit. I think the happiest moment of my childhood may have been when I found out they had WWF Spin Fighters.

Strawberry Fruitopia has been making a minor comeback for the past couple years. I only see it in fast food fountains and it's the only kind of Fruitopia I see but by golly, it's still hanging in there.

I must be the only mark for the evil basketball player gimmick that Mark Jindrak had for about a minute and a half on WCW Saturday Night in late '99. Heck, I may be the only person who remembers that.

I think that's a fair compromise. I mean there has to be some kind of punishment for winning the Worst Poster tournament. What's the point of it if the winner doesn't even get a suspension?

I don't see why you even bother arguing with the ass. It's clear Marvin knows nothing about boxing outside of what he's learned in the Rocky movies.

I'm no McDonalds hater but I think the only apple pies worse than theirs are those min Hostess frosted apple pies (Do they still even make those?). Those Hostess Pies hardly qualified as pie. Yet somehow I kind of enjoyed the cherry kind.

I don't know the part where he was talking to CM Punk about "office politics" came off as really lame and overly smarkish. Dude's trying to relax.

Ye gods, that lineup manages to combine the worst of rock past and the worst of rock present. On a somewhat unrelated note, I feel foolish for predicting that The Wallflowers would be a band that would last.

I agree Venkman with basically everything you said. VIII is probably in Top 5 favorite WrestleManias. I'll do a more detailed match by match rundown later but now I'll just ask a quick question. Have any two wrestlers had a longer series that didn't produce a good (or memorable) match than Rick Martel and Tatanka? It's not like either of them are bad workers and the matches certainly weren't terrible but they were all just sort of dull. I think it was the 90s equivalent of the Edge/William Regal feud from '02.

"Can't Stand Losing You" is my favorite as well with "De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da" coming in a close 2nd. I have an unabashed love for songs that prominently feature gibberish.

Heck, Bossman had a shockingly good match with The Barbarian at the '91 Royal Rumble. I will agree though that Bossman's series with Perfect was nothing to write home about. I bet Perfect was just inserted into that feud when Rude left (IIRC, Rude was feuding with The Bossman when he left).

I agree that Evil Biker Taker is the best incarnation of Undertaker. Sure he had more than his fair share of stinkers during that period but when has there been a period of his career where he hasn't had a bunch of stinkers? The mini-feud with Maven, the feud with Flair, his match with RVD, the match with Kurt Angle on a 4th of July episode of Smackdown!, the Triple Threat at Vengeance. All awesome stuff.

I've got to admit I'm pessimistic about this reclamation of the WWE folder project. It'll be kind of hard to do when 80% of the posters there stink and most of the good posters here don't watch it anymore. I wish I could help more with this but I don't watch much more (I half watch RAW and see bits and pieces of Smackdown!). And lord does RonL21's posting style annoy me... He was robbed from a spot in the Worst Poster Tournament.... Just robbed.... He could have had Kinetic's spot....

I agree with virtually everything you said, al. The show itself is not terrible but the storylines leading up to the show were incredibly lame. Triple H/Chris Jericho while being nowhere near the worst WrestleMania main event is up there with Sid/The Undertaker for most lackluster main event. Coming after the best WrestleMania ever, it just feels incredibly lackluster. Things that make you go hmmm? NC-17 EHME returning in the live chat almost right after he was eliminated from the Worst Poster tournament.

I didn't say he was good. I said he was half-decent, he might have two or three good posts there. He might only have two or three good posts period. He hasn't posted anything good anywhere in months. I know it's been said a million times but either way, this board wins.
