    Wiiiiii!!!!

That's true--such as the DS Lite issue that came to light--althought that was minor and very rare. However, there's a difference between the way Nintendo usually handles it...and other companies. ("It's not a defect, it's a feature!" "We are convinced that there is no problem with these models." *sued* "um...we'll fix them anyway...")
  2. From what I heard almost everything is a weapon. You can cosplay as Mega Man and there's a poster for a movie called "Mega Man 2." There is a place in the foodcourt called "Jill's Sandwiches." You can toss cds and records at zombies...which they no-sell...kind of like Shaun of the Dead, whether intentional or not. Servbot heads can be put on zombies, making them harmless. Weapons guide, courtesy of gamevideos and 1up.com: http://www.gamevideos.com/video/id/4893 Yay, the 2nd exclusive game that I'd actually want to play on 360!
  3. While most of these memories are definitely positive, I think we all went through that stage where we realized most licensed games suck. Sometimes it's a brutal, harsh lesson. People who grew up on NES? Those are often some pissed off folk. Those were some horrible, horrible games, most unplayable by today's standards. 16-bit got a lot better. We had Virgin making astoundingly playable games out of licenses--Aladdin, Lion King, Jungle Book fraggin' Cool Spot, Mick n' Mack Global Gladiators (which had the McDonald's license out the BUTT), and Robocop vs. Terminator. Konami gave us some killer cartoon licenses: the Ninja Turtles arcade games, the Tiny Toon games, Animaniacs, the best Batman game ever in Adventures of Batman & Robin on SNES, and more. Capcom gave us like a billion licensed games that were surprisingly good--especially during the NES years, when few licensed games were worth a damn (Ducktales, Darkwing Duck, batman, little nemo, etc.) Acclaim....sure did friggin suck. They sucked hard, they sucked long, they sucked with gusto. They produced some of the worst games of all time and they were run by greedy, irresponsible coke-snorting idiots. But they had Probe. Probe struggled against their incompetent overlords and tried desperately to make things of worth, despite undoubted ridiculous deadlines and bottom-line bean counters egging them to just get something done. Alien 3, The Incredible Hulk, Pagemaster, Stargate, the Genesis ports of MK and MK2 (which, yeah, looked and sounded poor, but they were MK!) and later on Alien Trilogy and Die Hard Trilogy. Pretty much every other development house didn't give a damn at all.
  4. I had that. It was impossible. I also used to rent the special edition or whatever it was called that came out a while after, which was the exact opposite...very easy. I didn't think it was very hard--about acceptable, but the controls were kind of stiff. I beat it as the raptor and Grant both. All I had a problem with was figuring out how to beat the final area where you'd fight grant as the raptor. I think you're thinking of Rampage Edition. With the thick annoying lines around the sprites. Ugh. JP2 on SNES--now that was a hard game.
  5. I have both home versions of Slam Masters. SNES one is boss. The genesis one sucks except for the deathmatch. There's only up to 2P, the sound blows and the a.i. is awful. But the gameplay is really good on both--up there with Wrestlemania TAG as my favorite non-sim wrestling game. While I liked nes zelda and SMB, I never owned an NES back in the day. Genesis was my first console, and my first game that I ever owned was Jurassic Park on Genesis.

    I-Pod Question

No, it won't launch automatically unless you set up your preferences to launch itunes automatically when an iPod is connected. Even if that happens, you'll get a message: This iPod is linked to another iTunes Library. Do you want to change the link to this library and replace all existing songs? If you can read, you can simply select "No." and put the iPod into manual mode, so you want any songs you can click and drag them to the iPod. Of course, if you're an idiot you can say "yes" and lose the music on the iPod already. And use a USB 2.0 port to charge more effectively.

    Wiiiiii!!!!

"Distant 3rd" is misleading. Sony's so far ahead, MS and Nintendo are fairly close for a distant 2nd, with MS taking that. For most of late '04 and '05 the xbox was 3rd worldwide. Late Halo 2 purchases and the death of Gamecube 3rd party releases probably turned that tide. Official NPD stats: Sony figures are "shipped" units, not necessarily actual sales. Sony's been extremely protective of any data on how many actual PSP units have been purchased. I think the rest of the figures may be "shipped" figures as well.

    Wiiiiii!!!!

The question is--will it sell well outside of Japan? Ubisoft North America confirmed the "rumored" Prince of Persia game on Wii, but there's no other details. So, they're selling one to me.
  9. "Zelda 2 was memorable in a really bad way. That game was horrible, and no one will convince me otherwise." The sole reason I think it doesn't deserve "best series ever." Did Nintendo make a lot more copies of the NES classics Zelda 2 than LoZ, or does it seem that way because NOBODY WANTS THEM?! Castlevania 2 sucks as well.
  10. Not to be outdone (at least as far as absurdity, not quality or anything like that), D3 has put together a game with a bikini-clad ninja cowgirl killing zombies. http://www.destructoid.com/yeehaaw-devil-e...man-on-the-x360

Terrific. HD talk. Let's make it geekier by analogizing. 480i is to as 480p is to . And 720p/1080i/1080p is to... / /
  12. http://www.technophilia.org/2006/07/list-o...-ps3-games.html I wondered why nobody is talking about Frame City anymore.

    Wiiiiii!!!!

Every market but Japan. As it is, the Wii is going to get less attractive to the US market once HD TVs spread to more homes. Plus 2009 is the cutoff for analog signals to be broadcast. It won't be $299 for a core. I'll tell you that much. And are any of the other prizes yet to hit the market yet? No. ARV = *Approximate* Retail Value. 2 SKUs wouldn't shock me, if the 2nd one included something extra like 2 wiimotes and the already-mentioned VC bonuses.
  15. I'm surprised there's 2 different versions. I've seen other films with a "special edition" when I swear it was the only edition.
  16. CDs' ROM images are called "iso"s. They're also much harder to crack than cart-based emulation. There's probably a decent Saturn emulator out there. My Windows 98' pc is set up with Gens using a Sega CD BIOS. I can actually put a Sega CD game in the machine and it will play the game that way. However, actually finding viable isos and using them--I'm clueless on. If you actually mean "Panzer Dragoon" there is a PC version readily available, the xbox version has an emulated version available as an unlockable, and there's supposedly a new Sega Ages version of it coming out soon. However, if you mean "Panzer Dragoon Saga", then I'd check with Renegade or one of the other folks big into emulation. Finding the iso is the biggest problem. Sega doesn't have plans to remake or port Saga. Because they're stupid. (And they actually have no idea how to adequately emulate their own ****ing Sega CD/Saturn hardware. Seriously.)

    Wiiiiii!!!!

Plenty of games will use 'traditional' controls. Either the "shell" controller (which apparently is a completely separate controller) or the Gamecube controller (which is confirmed to work with Smash Brawl) will do the job. Joystiq says Twiilight Princess will use the traditional controls if you prefer, and the wiimote is only an option, but I'm not 100% certain on that. November 21 I doubt. It's a Tuesday, and Nintendo is apparently going with Sunday (ship dates) for many of their major releases. Plus, November 14th/15 is the rumored PS3 street date. Nintendo would be lost in the mix if they launched last. I think even November 5 is a bit later than they should go for.
  18. Maybe it will become a franchise. The Marine 2: The Airman! The Marine 3: The Seaman!
  19. I hope they put Ian's X-3bumpers from the Fox showing of X-2 where he'd hype up the different mutants debuting in this movie. The one where he called Angel a killing machine and made him sound like a *major* part of the story was terribly funny.
  20. Do Hogan movies count? If so, does "punch" count as a wrestling maneuver?

    Wiiiiii!!!!

Nintendo is clamming up about it until September. All we have to go on now is "by Thanksgiving" and "under $250 USD." I call November 5th for $200.

    God Hand

I dont' consider Gamefaqs posters to be much of an authority on anything but cheating (Legend of Zelda as Best. Series. Ever. aside ), but saw this list. I didn't play many of these games and didn't see them mentioned here, so anywho who has tried it should feel free to share their thoughts. http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/top10/514.html Top 10 Lists : The Top 10 Best Current Generation Beat-Em-Up Games #10: Rise to Honor (PS2) #9: Ultimate Spider-Man (XBOX) #8: Mystic Heroes (GC) #7: Drakengard 2 (PS2) #6: Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks (PS2) #5: The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (PS2) #4: Champions of Norrath (PS2) #3: Gauntlet Dark Legacy (XBOX) #2: Viewtiful Joe (GC) #1: Dynasty Warriors 3 (PS2) I only played Shaolin Monks and Viewtiful Joe, which were good. I know Rise to Honor use the full analog stick control gimmick and lets you beat people with chicken. A friend bought Drakengard 2 and he hates it.

    Wiiiiii!!!!

I guess this can be the Wii thread for now. Ubi has strong Wii support in the works. We already knew about Red Steel and new Rayman, but... 1up reports (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3152629) "Far Cry, Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII, Monster 4x4 World Circuit, Open Season and GT Pro Series" are also coming. Okay, the 4x4 thing I could care less about, but a solid racer coming onto the system that isn't Mario based is great news. However, a Ubisoft France press release has announced Wii is getting (in 2007) a PRINCE OF PERSIA game on Wii!! If I wasn't buying one already I'd be getting one now.
  24. The trailer looks like it was directed by Michael Bay... 's...hyperactive kid. I'm pissed he doesn't have a Native American sidekick and isn't riding a motorcycle.
  25. 20th Century Fox, not Warner Brothers. WB usually sticks to DC properties. Thanks, I was thinking Fox but typed WB. I know Fox also was responsible for AVP and gave it the same treatment.
