Today's VC update is...Baseball and Urban Champion. And, that's it. Yes, TWO games and they both suck. Nice job, Nintendo.
  2. Um, when I tried to vote it forced me to select a PC option, when I didn't want to. So I edited the Poll to display (No Vote) option for portable and PSP. And although it shows me as having voted (Votes: 1), it erased my actual voting selections. Doh. So, the ones I selected where: Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for console Elite Beat Agents for portable and I want a No Vote for PC.
  3. Okay, here's the vote, up and ready to go. I'll take votes up until the end of Sunday, Jan 7. Note: I only could add 10 choices for question, so most entries for console GOTY will get their own choice, but there is an Other option, and a listing of the other nominees. Select Other and reply with your choice from *among the nominated choices* to vote for it.
  4. Nominations no longer being accepted; poll coming soon.
  5. Yeah, Wii Play = wii remote / no nunchuck.

Yeah, there's no need to be hunched over in controller position. People have made a big deal about how you supposedly have to work harder, but depending on the game (Zelda when you're not aiming, for instance), it may be less work.

VC supports progressive scan, and even on a standard TV Mario 64 looks a hell of a lot better--the blurring is cleaned up. However, I noticed a lot of the colors appear darker than the original.
  8. Yeah, you flamed me. So I warned you for it. Besides, the only people to see the warnings are yourself and other mods. Well it used to be that way before the upgrade, I don't know about now. Calling someone ass is flaming now? Get over yourself Mole. And lying is not against the forum rules. Exactly. It's bullshit. I *still* think he's an ass, and it doesn't seem like he's done anything to prove me or anyone else wrong on that opinion. "Spreading lies" is funnier, though. That's like some sophomore high school girl kind of crap. Although I did learn he is Admin, which cracks me up to no end. Despite the title in his posts I never noticed, because the thought is so incongruous. I honestly never paid attention to who owns or runs what since Dames gave up control.
  9. Does anyone have the strat guide for Final Fantasy III DS? A friend of mine would like to get a good pic/scan of the art for the Red Mage from it.
  10. Just the remote-swinging? Not really. As mentioned, it doesn't exactly track your precise movements. However, you have more items selectable at any given time from your D-Pad. Switching items in and out is quick and easy but also relatively rare. Also, aiming and firing arrows/the clawshot(s) = so easy and intuitive you can hardly imagine it doing any other way. Using the Wiimote, it's a cinch to aim at and shoot enemies so far off they're just a tiny little patch of pixels. So if you're not planning to get a Wii within, oh, 6 months or so, definitely get the GC version. However, if you play the Wii version you likely won't want to play it any other way.
  11. Mario 64 may have been my first N64 game, but the game that actually convinced me to purchased one was the then-mysterious Zelda 64, which was going to come out *some day*. How we marveled at blocky Link fighting a blocky Stalfos back when buzzwards like "Project Reality" and "tri-linear mip-mapped interpolation" were on Nintendo's lips. We even thought there might be a 2nd 3DO! Well, when it finally came, it was no less amazing than what I/we'd hoped. I was amazed at the Kokori village, where the air danced with glowing...plants? Bugs? What the heck were those things? First dungeon....inside the giant Deku Tree. No longer a tiny, flat floor, but a massive area teeming with hostile plants, bugs, and the occasional Deku Scrub (many of them enterprising). Huge areas, huge bosses, and a bit light on challenge, the game never failed me to be flat-out fun, even when I'd occasionally get lost in a dungeon. The Water Temple...ah yes...long, occasionally frustrating, but HOLY **** DARK LINK!!! The final battle is just obscenely fun, too. It's the type of thing we'd imaged in a "next gen" Zelda game but wasn't sure we'd ever really see.
  12. On the 31st there is a freeware Streets of Rage remake going to be released.... You can play through the beta in the meantime (only stage 1 playable in it). http://www.bombergames.net/ -- where you will be able to get it // get the beta in the meantime. Topic with screenies: http://bombergames.se32.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=657 Played the beta, good work. It feels (and at least the first stage is designed like) like SoR2, which is a great thing.
  13. That's MUGEN. It's an open-source fighting game where pretty much anyone can put together their own sprites and animations and add fighters to the game.

How is Rabbids structured? Like Warioware (where you play seconds at a time)? Or you keep playing the same game until you decide to quit/change minigames?
  15. New Retro Roundup: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3156110 While I didn't bother downloading SF2, I did whip out the original cart and play a lot of it. It's still really good/fun even today, even thought a lot of it just abusing the hell out of the little bugs in the gameplay. Guile rules your ass.

Wiiseeker is not very good at all. It said my Target would have 24 at launch when they had zip. It said that the Wal-mart I hit would have 50 and they had 20.
  17. Isn't that just in Japanese arcades at the moment? We don't have an arcade field.
  18. I've been "warned" for calling Mole an ass for planning to scalp a PS3. Which is kind of funny since he realized he's not going to get anything out of his $600 + tax investment it and is now going to keep it. Heh.
  19. These are just the nominations, voting will be a seperate thread.
  20. You sure showed me.
  21. With just a few days to go and all of the major contenders out there and playable, what game or games do you think come out at the top of the heap this year? Instead of doing by console, I think we should do handheld, console, and PC. PC I know pretty much nothing of other than the console stuff that made it out there, so I'll be open to just about any serious nomination for that. I'll take nominations up until Jan 1, then post a thread for voting. I'll start out with the obvious ones. Console --------- Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess (GC,Wii) Gears of War (XB360) Guitar Hero II (PS2) Okami (PS2) Final Fantasy XII (PS2) Kingdom Hearts 2 (PS2) Handheld ----------- Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (PSP) Elite Beat Agents (DS) Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin (DS) Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth (PSP) Tekken Dark Resurrection (PSP) New Super Mario Bros (DS) PC --- ????
  22. Sony's warranties used to be 90 days--but PS2 Slim, PSP, and now PS3 have 1 year warranties. Riiiight. Because owning an ebay account = being a system scalper. I had a chance to preorder a PS3 so I'd have it on launch day, and passed on it. Why? Because I didn't want it, and just maybe someone who actually did, got it. Translation: OH NO! I didn't think this through! You plunked down $600 plus tax for a PS3 with intentions of selling it? Now you're not? Clearly you mustn't have been hurting for that 20 dollars. Don't forget shipping costs, which will be quite a bit cuz the PS3 is heavy. And insurance and some form of tracking is a must, too.
  23. No. It's just that Americans suck at making realistic wrestling games. And Japanese programmers being kept on a short leash, being told exactly how to make an American-style wrestling game are only doing a little bit better. "I actually did like WM: The Arcade Game...unfortuantely, I had the inferior SNES version, but it was still fun to play. Playing as a tag team with a friend was a lot of fun. " Heh, hopefully you got the PS1 version later. I played *EVERY* version of that game around, the SNES was by far the worst. 2 missing characters, butchered to hell animation, and SLOWDOWN for crying out loud!! I guess the game just played far better to the Genesis' faster hardware.
  24. I love the fact that he bitches out the GC guy for being an ass, then says he's going to (try to) sell the PS3 on Ebay anyway. You're an ass, too. I hope you have to take it back soon because you couldn't sell it for your asking price and need to deal with the same guy again. He's trying to gouge customers because of management mandate. What's your excuse? I'd dropped some knowledge about EB/Gamestop's joke of a warranty a few times. Seriously...they're selling you a 1 year protection on Nintendo DS? When Nintendo themselves offer a 1 year and bend over backwards to fix any problems? Geez.
  25. 360s cost $300-$400 (well, plus tax). Cheap CRTs with component are virtually non-existent in major retailers, too, so it would have to be something you'd know to look for. I understood the reasoning behind posting the comment. If and when I get a 360 I'll probably go with VGA, since I don't think I'm going to be going the HDTV route yet unless my (still functioning very well) TV dies on me. However, the comment shows how out of touch tech geeks can be. Casual gamers often don't know anything about the different cables other than what is on the back of their TV. I used to be the same way and I'm a long time gamer.
