  1. I think the last inning has proven that the Wrigley faithful has even less patience this season than last year. Booing guys already is pushing it, but it's frustrating, so I'm not surprised. Aramis sure has been striking out on the extreme outside pitches the last three games.
  2. And with two outs and two strikes on the hitter. A LaTroy speciality. They really need to find a closer. It's obvious that Hawkins isn't ever going to fit in the role comfortably.
  3. Man, they sure are continuing the tradition of having a loooong top of the seventh inning, aren't they? I was shocked they got Lee. Typically, it'd be Cubs luck for the guy who's killed them the most to come up in such a tight situation. Then to get Jenkins on a full count. I was sure he was about to walk in the tying run. Now for the love of god, let's get some runs...
  4. Both seem like nice guys, but Brenly's trying to be too much like Steve Stone in terms of joking around about food and stuff. Give credit to Burnitz. He had two strikes on him and was up there against a guy he'd never gotten a hit against. Considering his free-swinging ways and his luck against Capuano, it was a blessing he nudge the ball into left field. Too bad they couldn't add in another one or two after.
  5. Wood is incapable of walking the walk. Actually, scratch that. Lots of walks today. But he's unable to silence critics who say he's too much of thrower and not so much of a pitcher. The Cubs' anemic offense could pick up some of the slack, though.
  6. Considering how Carlos Lee is much like Carlos Beltran in Wrigley, I'm sorta surprised that the Cubs didn't try and make a trade for him during the offseason. But then, maybe I shouldn't be.
  7. The term "cancer" is used far too freely when used in the context of particular athletes and the teams they play on. Calling Lofton a cancer for the Yankees is ridiculous. Are you really suggesting that Kenny Lofton's complaining had a significantly damning effect on the way the Yankees played in 2004? Please. That aside, he signed under the impression that he was going to be more than a role player, which is what he quickly became.
  8. I'm about to put a pencil through my head so I don't have to listen to the D-Back announcers. They are such homers it's almost unbearable. So is watching Dempster pitch. Here comes the guy who was supposed to be the fifth starter.
  9. Ryan Dempster as a starter makes me uneasy.
  10. I thought this gonna be about the poster by the same name as the thread title.
  11. A-Rod's bobble was a classic case of a guy thinking about getting two before he got one.
  12. He already got the hook and was just running his mouth as he left. Of course, it didn't helped he whistled to get the ump's attention. Dusty's bringing in the bench players now, even breaking the 62-year-old record of the second baseman playing the whole game on opening day.
  13. If it's any consolation, it'd be tied at zero if Sexson were still in Arizona.
  14. I'll admit it. I'm mildly aroused watching this small ball approach from the Cubs.
  15. There are a few generic minor league parks.
  16. Guys, California almost always offers up the worst crowds. They're apathetic towards just about anything.
  17. Anyone want to give the reasoning behind their star ratings? The system is worthless in situations like this, because rarely are they justified by the individual. "Ooo, that was pretty good; uhhhh, ****3/4. Yeah, that seems about right."
  18. Well, at least this thread has revealed that Czech's vision is impaired.
  19. Yeah, what a moron for caring about this place. He was one of the few people willing to take on the undesirable task of making the WWE folder less of a joke and usually got nothing but crap because of it. TSM is a big inside joke now and that's okay. But you can't get on a guy who was here before it was like that, just because he doesn't think that's the best direction to take.
  20. Yeah, that's him. The two of them make a bland announcing duo, which is probably what they were shooting for when they hired them.
  21. The whole reason Tike got dropped from the leadoff spot was because he was doing so badly. What sense does it make to put him in another spot where production is expected?
  22. He was more of a cult figure, but he was once dubbed the next Seinfeld by Time Magazine, so he definitely sat on the fine line between cult status and mainstream popularity.
  23. We seem to have a curse where any major appliances we purchase for maintence (i.e. lawnmowers and vacuum cleaners) go in and out of working order. Hence anytime someone comes by with an offer to cut the grass, I'm game. I remember a couple springs back this one Jamaican guy on a bike cut my grass all season long. He was a cool cat and I was disappointed to never see him come around again.
