The Afghan Presidential election thread
Rob E Dangerously replied to Rob E Dangerously's topic in Current Events
Gee, because massive landslides in individual precincts NEVER happen in real elections. Man, the left will do anything to kill off electoral systems if the results aren't what they want. -=Mike I'd say that the possibility for fraud existed. But, I don't think there's any real proof of fraud. Then again, if any state proved that a candidate can win with 98% of the vote, it's South Carolina. Actually, Karzai's 95 to 1 margins are either signs of extreme popularity or some fraud. Fraud may be a strong term, since it sugggests Karzai could have lost this election. Which is unlikely. But for a first election. I think it went well. Hopefully they'll build on this election with a second and third and more successful elections. -

having margins of 91 to 4 in a few provinces is suspicious. But then again, would it matter anyways? probably not -
GOP Voter Drive Accused of Tossing Cards
Rob E Dangerously replied to Your Paragon of Virtue's topic in Current Events
Along with elderly people being called and told to vote in the wrong place. And a guy named Larry Russell who had to resign from his GOP-GOTV job in South Dakota, who is now working to GOTV for the GOP in Ohio. While being under investigation back in South Dakota. Out of those 35,000 challenges.. i'm going to say that not even 3500 come back in the favor of the GOP. A lot of it will slow down the system in Ohio, a state without early voting. Of course.. I'm not totally sure if you want to start kicking elderly people off the voting rolls, it's possible, since they vote heavily Democrat. You've already come out against the right to vote for Rap Fans and People you deem to be stupid. -

He's been wounded more than most war heroes too! -
(Insert incredibly easy Purple Heart joke here) How many times have you been wounded in combat? More than Kerry, most likely. -=Mike that's a pretty big bet to put up. How many times have you been wounded in combat? or at all More often than Kerry. -=Mike Bullshit Did something stop you from going to the army? Just curious

Poll shows solidly Dem state leaning to Bush

I'm pretty sure Kerry's not holding back on the resources for other states due to the Northwest. -

The average of the polls before McGreevey's resignation: 48-43 Kerry Even ARG, which had a tie in June, had Kerry up 7 on August 5th. And Northeast New Jersey and Newark will most likely go for Kerry by large numbers. according to the maps, Northwest New Jersey goes Republican and Southern New Jersey could also go Republican. Hudson county, the home of Newark, went 71-26 for Gore. So there's hope for Bush that he could break 30% Those in the strong-Democrat part of the state did get to hear a bit about it. -
last week's numbers are in parantheses And the party ID sample apparently still favors Republicans Here's the party numbers for the LVs: Bush has 9% among Democrats Kerry has 6% among Republicans Kerry leads 52-38 among Independent voters and yet.. Bush is in the lead

nah.. it's more of a bizarre trend. It's not due to Kerry, but due to McGreevey. Gore won New Jersey by 15 points, but Kerry will probably win it by a smaller margin. but this is effective bait to get a larger polling operation to run Hawaii -

It's not that great of a sign for Bush that he's at 43%. The only third party candidates on the ballot are Badnarik and Cobb and unless they can get 15% combined, then Bush won't win Hawaii with those current numbers. This is sorta like the stories that New Jersey is a tossup. Or the stories that Deleware was going to be a tossup in 2000. -

No, just against really shitty bloggers. -=Mike and wolves Nah, I love wolves. Eagles, however, are for total pussies. -=Mike Eagles are pussies? are you a fan of the turkey or something? It's a proven fact that eagles are above Dachshunds in toughness, if that counts for much. Hopefully you don't get added to an airport watchlist of "Wolf Lovers". The last thing we want is another wolf-related tragedy in our skies. -
Missouri has 4.2M registered out of 4.3M people
Rob E Dangerously replied to Rob E Dangerously's topic in Current Events
there's possibly a bit more to that. Shooting that down would require some evidence that such observers would subconsciously intimidate voters or something like that. Which might be a bit unlikely. it seems that from some of the reports, that job had some flaws. Granted, the fact that there's not really a uniform standard for felons voting is bound to cause problems too. That would be even more of a clusterfuck than our current system. -

I'd love a national check of registrations to start narrowing down duplicates (people registered twice in one state, or in two states, and only keeping the newest registration). I doubt that will happen though. And there should be better ways to remove deceased people from the rolls. There's a bit of an exaggeration on the complaints of disenfranchisement too. If it's done by legitmate means, it's not disenfranchisement. -
treble.. who eats pretzels out of a bucket? wait.. that's an idea!

re. Philadelphia: probably dead people, and people who haven't voted and moved away. There's steps to be taken. When it comes to Florida. One step involves checking to see if the same person voted in the same election in two states. I'd guess the same person would have the same SSN in two states as well. Unless they don't record that or something, which is unlikely -
