I hadn't listen to my Testament CDs in a long while, and was listening to New Order the other day and thinking there's not one bad song on that album, and that it stacks up with any of the typical metal classics from the 80s. And now I'm listening to LOW, and I just can't get over how hard yet melodic this album is. Chuck Billy's voice just lends itself so well to the songs, growling on Hail Mary and then melodic on Trail of Tears (a fucking great "metal ballad"). I really want to get The Gathering now. Anyway, besides their approx. 4 billion lineup changes (I don't think Rainman could name every memeber of Testament without consulting the internet), what are some of the other metalhead fans' thoughts on this band, and what you all feel seperated them from the breakout sucess of Metallica and Slayer. Was it the lack of consistency? Or just lack of innovation?

Killers is an awesome album, that really only suffers from Paul rather Bruce's vocals. The thing is, with the excpetion of a couple a good argument could be made that any album is Maiden's best. They're just that good.

I love that argument. As much as he went off the deep end since losing the election (NOTMYPRESIDENTLOL2000~!), it's amazing that liberals don't realize that the same shit would have happened, and would have been handled in the same way (Iraq invasion included) if Al Gore was president.

I HATE to bring any type of wrestling analogy into Current Events (but it's a wrestling board so deal with it), but it eerily reminds me of Eric Bischoff and WCW's arrogance when they became number one and were consistently beating the long standing leaders Vince and the WWF. And we know how that turned out. Fox News shouldn't throw stones, because it could come back to bite them (dig the mixed metaphors! )...and I LIKE Fox News way better CNN. ...and I guess MSNBC could be ECW...or something...

Of course if we go on about why the country was distracted and who's fault that was, we could go in circles for hours...

I'm tired, leave me alone. Oh, and one of the program editors for Al Jazeera visited our school a couple weeks ago and spoke; I knew he was lying because his mouth was moving. His only good point is that most of the Arab governments hate them as much as the US does, so I guess they have universal hate going for them. During the question and answer session it was fun watching him duck questions about where the stations' funding comes from. "This is not important, we are an independent news source for the Arab world!"

Thrilla in Baltimore, on 1954 Retro Weekend, as a the O's hang on in the 9th with the bases loaded to get a 12-11 win over the Indians, sweeping the 3 game series, and improving to 16-12 on the year. Miguel Tejada busted out with 2 homeruns in the game as well.

It's an interesting thought, and one I'd reccomend if TNA sold tapes, since guys have popped in and out over the past 2 years and storylines have been dropped and introduced constantly, so you might as well just follow from this point on since not much has continuity anyway, and then just work back to watch some great matches, but with ROH it seems more constant. Like you need to watch them at least mostly in order, especially as they introduce new wrestlers and new storylines. From just the first few shows, I think I'd be totally lost if I just started with the new stuff. And there appears to be a guy selling copies of just about all the shows (over 30) for a starting bid of $100 on eBay. God, I'd really hate myself for spending over a 100 dollars in one pop on wrestling, but it might be worth it...

And in all fairness, I do agree with you. My disagreements have been with Gabe and friends' handling of the situation. My question about alternative sources was more of an economic than moral one though. I didn't want to be the poor sap that pays fulls price, when there's a cheaper source that most everyone uses, but it doesn't seem like that's the case. (The supplier I got the first 5 from, I believe was the guy RF turned into the FBI...goodie). I still feel a little dirty giving money to Rob Feinstein video though...

hmph...still a little weary on giving money to RFVideo, but I might. Where do the big fans here get their videos? Is there a reliable cheaper source out there (PMs welcome), or do you guys just buy straight from RF every month?

So what's the deal with the ESPN2 coverage anyway? I'm assuming they're just replaying past events, but before the fights they had a couple guys ringside with ESPN2 mics talking about the matches, that was kind of odd. Again, how recent are these shows. Is it like Showtime with boxing where they show PPV fights like a month later?

I'm still a mark for Team Canada, still one of the bright spots of WCW 2000. Especially when he had 3 titles, Elix Skipper, Major Gunns, Canadian Killa Mike Awesome, EVIL HACKSAW~!, Jacque Rougeou, and Carl Oulette at one point all part of his entourage and one special edorsement by Bret Hart. Just awesome. Too bad he spent most of his time fueding with the Misfits in Action though...
