I'm kind of confused, they brought him back and he is announced as the captain for Team TNA for the X Cup, yet he's not being brought back? I will agree I never thought I'd say it but I'm glad Russo's back. I hate the guy and on his own he's terrible, but when he was edited by Jarrett and Disco and whoever else was involved he got some really good shows out of TNA. To say I've been disapointed in Dirty Dutch is an understatement. I think this guy needs to be demoted to a consultent role immediately.
-
Well, the original list of names was in fact false, and of course as per usual around here, everyone used it as an excuse to be negative. Here are the participants as announced on this week's show: Team TNA Jerry Lynn Chris Sabin Elix Skipper Sonjay Dutt Team AAA Juventud Guerrera Hector Garza Abismo Negro Mr. Aguila (Essa Rios) Rules to be announced, but it will be a team format (possibly scored on points, or a round robin or maybe a double elimination tournament). February 11th!

ICP shows up in WWF 1998, goes on to have biggest boom period in company history! There is hope!

Good. Let them get pissed at France for a change instead of us. Maybe then France will be a little more supportive in the future...

The church doesn't run our government. What if the church of satan says your married? What are the standards? You can't just say if this religion says you're married than you're married in the eyes of the law because it would be favoring a religion.

I accidently posted this at first in the CE folder! Woops. While this Wednesday's (1/21/04) NWA/TNA PPV features the debut of Johnny Fairplay, known as "The Most Hated Man In America", one has to wonder whether TNA Management Consultant Don Callis will be around for the signing of the biggest heel in Survivor history. Callis made the Fairplay announcement prior to his post-main event proclamation that he would quit if the decision wasn't reversed in the A.J. Styles and Erik Watts win over Jeff Jarrett and Abyss. The NWA's Director Of Authority Watts countered Callis by claiming he also would "walk" if the match result didn't stand. TNA officials have a difficult decision to make. In my opinion, it boils down to who they feel is the most valuable person to the company, Callis for his marketing (out of the ring) moves or Watts for his decisions on in-ring activity. We'll find out their feelings this Wednesday ... Callis or Watts. Speaking of Watts, his masked, mystery man El Leon (The Lion) will make his match debut in a "Street Fight" against NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Jeff Jarrett. We'll determine the number one contenders to the NWA Worlds Tag Team Champs, 3 Live Kru, when America's Most Wanted meet The TNA Redshirts. The Sandman will be bringing in ECW hardcore star Balls Mahoney for a revenge tag against The Gathering, C.M. Punk and Julio Dinero. The former associates square off when Glen Gilberti and David Young face Simon Diamond and Johnny Swinger. And the New Franchise of Shane Douglas and Michael Shane will have their plates full when they oppose two members of the former Triple X faction in Elix Skipper and Christopher "The Fallen Angel" Daniels. We'll see you Wednesday night from the TNA Asylum LIVE on Pay Per View. For months I've received hundreds of letters from TNA fans who are not able to receive our weekly PPV broadcasts. Reasons range from location (international fans) to satellite providers (Dish Network viewers). Well TNA ON DEMAND is for you. You can now watch NWA TNA PPVs on your personal computer. Also, fans who ARE able to watch our PPVs can now re-live their favorite moments and shows. Fans who are new to the TNA product can watch previous shows. For more details, check out TNA ON DEMAND on this website. We invite your questions and comments to [email protected]. Remember that due to the heavy volume, Mike is not able to answer every question or respond personally. Please include your hometown and state (and country if outside the U.S.). Let's go to the electronic mailbag -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FROM: ERIC HENDLEY Do you think Vince McMahon should buy TNA? ANSWER: No way. The key to keeping the professional wrestling business alive is via competition. The availability of an alternative wrestling promotion is a must for the benefit of the fans and everyone who cashes a check in the industry. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FROM: CHRIS Is there any chance of TNA opening a wrestling school? What is La Parka up to these days? ANSWER: I've heard rumblings that TNA officials are once again considering opening a wrestling school in Nashville. We'll bring you the information on our website as soon as it becomes official. There have been several wrestlers using the La Parka name and costume in Mexico in the past few years. AAA actually owns the La Parka name. WCW's La Parka is now wrestling for the EMLL group in Mexico as La Park Original wearing a red outfit to differentiate him from the others. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FROM: DANIEL KILLS (AUSTRALIA) When will Sabu, Bam Bam Bigelow, Saturn, Jerry Lynn and Buff Bagwell appear in TNA? ANSWER:All of the above, with the exception of Bigelow, have already appeared for TNA in our year and a half of existence. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FROM: CHRISTINA SCHMALZ (PENNSYLVANIA) I loved seeing you and Jeff Jarrett get into it Wednesday night on the PPV. That is entertainment gold. If you ask me, he needs to start showing you some respect. Kudos to Tiny too. He sure earned his paycheck last night.TNA is a wonderful alternative to the other option. Our whole family looks forward to Wednesday nights. ANSWER: I realize that as the play by play voice of TNA I need to mantain a certain amount of impartiality. But, last Wednesday, the stipulations were too important and too far-reaching to allow Jarrett and Abyss to win in that manner. Fortunately, Bill Behrens of the NWA Board felt the same way and re-started the match. You're right about Tiny. The TNA bell ringer just couldn't take Kid Kash's crap any more and hit the ring like a man possessed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FROM: ROBERT BOCCHINO (STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK) WCW had Starrcade. WWE has Wrestlemania. What's the grand daddy of them all for TNA? ANSWER: TNA doesn't have an annual signature PPV event ... yet. We were anticipating that the postponed Bound For Glory show would be our calling card. Stay tuned to see how things unfold in 2004. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FROM: TOMMY HOWE (PINCKNEYVILLE, ILLINOIS) Will there be a feud between TNA and AAA? I love TNA. It is a superior product. Keep up the good work. I'll be watching. ANSWER: Look for the America's X Cup on February 11 involving four of the top stars from TNA and four top AAA stars in an X Division Tournament. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FROM: MATT GIBSON (RUSSIA, OHIO) In your opinion, what stable was the best of all time? ANSWER: The original Four Horsemen set the standard for wrestling factions. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FROM: CHRIS HEDRICK I always enjoy your commentary. NWA TNA is by far the best wrestling going today. Is Slash the same person as the former wrestler Wolfie D? ANSWER:Yes, Slash was Wolfie D in a former wrestling life. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FROM: MICHAEL DREKSLER What ever happened to Black Gordman and The Great Goliath? ANSWER: Both Gordman and Goliath have retired. Gordman's son recently wrestled for the WWE at a RAW taping in San Antonio, Texas. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FROM: CHRISTIAN (SWEDEN) What's the difference between announcing in WCW and NWA TNA? ANSWER: Night and day. The support of TNA management and their ability to give me freedom behind the microphone are unlike anything I ever experienced in WCW. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FROM: NIGEL (INDIA) Did Bob Backlund ever hold a Worlds Title for six years? ANSWER: Not exactly. Backlund was WWF Worlds Champion on three occassions. His first run was from February, 1978 (defeating Superstar Billy Graham) to November, 1979 (losing to Antonio Inoki). He regained the belt from Inoki in December, 1979 and held it until December, 1983 (losing to Iron Sheik). If you discount the one week reign of Inoki, you can make a case that Backlund was champ for two months shy of six years. Backlund also had a three day reign in 1994 as a transitional champ (beating Bret Hart, losing to Diesel) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FROM: ERNEST MARY I've been a fan for over for 30 years and wondered if Blackjack Mulligan is still wrestling? ANSWER:No, Mulligan has been retired for years. He would be in his early 60s. Last I heard he was a deep sea diver. His son Barry Windham has recently returned to the ring for the MLW promotion. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mike Tenay [email protected]

Because there are many government benefits and tax details that come with being recognized as "married", thus you can be married in the eyes of the church, but legally it's up to the government...

I've ordered every show and a self admitted mark for TNA but even I can admit that the shows have really missed this year. There has not been a real blowaway show in a long while.
-
Match wise there's not much that sounds like it's going to surpass **, but angle wise this should be a big show. I predict a show with no memorable matches but a very entertaining night of angles.
-
Holy old/dropped angles batman! Glad you're liking it. 1. I don't think we ever actually found out, I think it had something to do with his "girlfriend" April. A couple weeks later Jarrett and Lawler actually made up and teamed up. Then Lawler disappeared for a while before returning along with David Flair and Eric Watts to attack Jarrett in an another angle that ultimately went no where 2. Yup! 3. Yes, and the Dupps haven't been seen since! 4. He dropped Truth on his head with a botched powerbomb when he was world champ, and was sent packing immediately after. 5. He eventually became AJ Styles manager and then disappeared because he moved away from Nashville. 6. Siaki won, Yang bolted when he didn't want to sign a contract, and Jorge stuck around for a while as the last remaining Flying Elvis before being dropped because he couldn't go through a match without less than 10 blown spots... Yikes, the first year was really very confusing when you think back at it, with things literally changing from week to week. If anyone else remembers better than me (not too hard!) feel free to add.

He tried to invade Kuwait and likely would have posed a serious threat to Israel. You do realize that appeasement was used with Hitler figuring "he's not such a threat", let him just invade a country or 2 and he'll leave everyone else alone. Those who appease evil are no better than the perpretators.

Schwarzenegger Launches 'Armageddon Cuts' Campaign
Styles replied to MrRant's topic in Current Events
Well, we all know he was a great admierer of that guy... -
That might be your opinion but I know a lot of posters who have watched early TNA have asked if Appollo was coming back soon, so maybe there is a fanbase for him...
-
So, does this mean EVIL Mike Teny will bring in fake La Parka and Psychosis to pass them off as the real thing and get into bitter shoot arguments with new play by play Jerry Jarrett?

NWATNA.com Exclusive JONNY FAIRPLAY AUDIO MESSAGE! This Wednesday night, exclusively on Pay-Per-View, Jonny Fairplay will debut on TNA Wrestling with his contract signing. Fairplay is credited for breathing life back into reality television, as many consider him the most entertaining, yet hated person on the hit show Survivor: Pearl Islands. Fairplay phoned this message in to the TNA Headquarters for immediate release to our E-Mail Subscribers and NWATNA.com visitors. It is becoming obvious that his recent successes have gone to his head. Listen for yourself. http://rd.bcentral.com/?ID=1435405&s=81858147 I know he's in character but this guy is seriously going to get his ass kicked...

Hamas uses first female suicide bomber

Your ignorance is breathtaking... Why don't you try learning something: http://www.us-israel.org/jsource/myths/mftoc.html -
I was expecting someone to approach him with the big hat and the Madness cape. As I said, I was getting more of a delusional Roddy Piper vibe...
-
VIVA LA RAZA! VIVA LA RAZA! WE'RE GOING TO NEW HAMSHIRE, AND THEN WE'RE GOING TO SOUTH CAROLINA! NEW MEXICO! DELEWARE! AND THEN....(heavy breathing)...THEN...WE'RE GOING TO MINNESOTA! AND NEBRASKA! He sounded like Roddy Piper. The guy is nuts. My dad: "He sounds like one of those wrestlers you watch".

It depends, it's all about the big mo, momentum. A poster in this thread just said he now might vote for Edwards over Dean. The pereception after tonight is that Kerry and Edwards are on the rise while Dean is falling out...
-
He opened his mouth...
-
I'm suprised there hasn't been a thread started yet. Yes, tonight citizens of Iowa, the state known for...um, it's that square looking one...near Montanna....I think...anyway, they kick off elections 2004 tonight in a treasured and somewhat convoluted ceremony where people gather at their houses, and...run to different corners of the room and form teams for their candidate...there might be capturing of flags involved, I'm not really sure. So, anyway, then people get to speak and make cases for why people should join their candidate allowing the voters to run to other corners of the room...and if a group has less than 15% of the people gathered, they're eliminated...BUT they can stay and join another group and vote again, well there's no real voting, just counting. And so, whoever is counted as having the most support wins the caucus. Pretty cool, eh? Oh the storylines! Is crazy Howie's ANGRY MAN~! routine reached it's end? Did John Kerry REALLY serve in Veitnam? Can a charming young (ok, so he's 50 but I guess that's young in politics) trial attorney named John Edwards win the heart of the nation and be the REAL candidate for Southern white voters with confederate flags on the back of their pickup trucks? Why is Dennis Kucinich still running? Will OMGFAUXNEWSFAIRANDBALANCEDLOL2004~! hilariously cover the event with a...*GASP* conservative slant?! It will all be settled TONIGHT, at the IOWA CAUCUS! Until a few days from now when we do it all again in New Hampshire without all that stupid caucus crap. Post all predictions/comments/latest totals here.
