Actually the Observer reported he came up with it recently in Puerto Rico because he knows those crowds like comedy spots like that, and it got over huge so Killings and BJ were begging him for weeks to try it in Orlando, but he didn't think it'd get over in the US, but finally he gave in and tried it and it got over huge and the next week the fans were chanting "shoe" at him and holding up their shoes.
  2. Am I the only one who remembers that awful never ending Hardcore Cup tournament they did in 03? Uggg, we don't need that again...
  3. I don't know. I'm really torn on the whole legalising pot argument. I totally understand the argument that it would reduce crime, free up prisons and police forces to get the "real criminals", would probably lower our taxes and make more efficiant use of our government's resources (hah yeah right!) BUT, at the same time, I just have such a negative opinion of drugs and people who use them recreationally. It's annoying enough having to deal with cigarette smokers in public places/outside (it triggers an ashmatic reaction for me) not to mention adding on people smoking joints (the smell is awful, I hate having to endure it at concerts), who will likely also be acting recklessly and putting others in danger in the process. SO, the solution is make it much like alcohol where you can't drink it outside or in many public places, but we see all the problems alcohol has caused to public safety. The epidemic of drunk driving accidents is bad enough, not to mention the other lovely side effects to innocents like sexual assault and violence, do we really need to compoud this with pot too? I understand people already smoke the stuff, but it's largely done in a less open setting then alcohol is. If it was made legal, it would be "condoning" it like alcohol and it's use would be more widespread and more in the open and we'd likely be doubling the tragedies by people who lose control and cause needless death and injury to others. The argument that alcohol is worse for society and cigs are worse for your body may be true, but you can't close Pandora's Box. Prohibition was tried, it failed. They're legal, there's nothing you can do but regulate it. Once you make pot legal it just adds to the problem. So...like I said, I'm torn because I like the appeal it would have on many administrative government functions but at a personal/societal level I just don't want to see it happen. Besides, it won't happen because no politician who wants a career can get behind it (nor will enough other politicans support it to pass it) and furthermore the beer companies which are enormous will not allow it since it would likely hurt their profits...
  4. Could anyone create this conspiracy and set it up in 8 months? No. Could someone plan it for years before getting power and bring it to fruition in their first 8 months? Yes. Bear in mind that the PNAC was signed on 9/10/2000 by Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz. Many of the objectives espoused by the PNAC have indeed been met due to the world changes caused directly by 9/11. Mike, with the system set in place right now, the Republicans are in full control of all elected parts of the federal government. Since 2001, the main public agenda for the US government has been to protect America from terror. To that end, the government has been able to enact laws like PATRIOTs I and II (among countless other state/federal laws) which have provided them a greater degree of freedom in their operations while also freeing them from public scrutiny (because we're defending freedom, dammit!). The 9/11 Commission raised more questions than answers, the closer sharing of information between departments is not happening, the Osama bogeyman is still out there somewhere, the government can raise the terror alert level (and national fear) solely at their own discretion without answering to anyone. We're at war in what appears to be an endless struggle against a limitless number of faceless 'enemies of freedom' at home and abroad. This is a formula for Republican dominance. Is it REALLY that hard to believe that the Islamic terrorist threat is real? That they really do want to kill us for numerous perverse ideological reasons, that they noticed our lack of response to smaller attacks in the past giving them the confidence to execute the large scale attack they wanted, and that in response the government has enacted laws to help better protect us from further attacks and that we are currently at war abroad to combat those forces who are actively seeking to plan out and excute more attacks with the further hope that democracy and stability in the region will wipe out the ideology that causes the threat? Does it HAVE to be some evil plan for oil/power/money/control whatever?!

Got to love Page 2. It's Commisioner Stern's Blog! http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=neel/050504
  6. Perhaps, we should change all trades to "Commisioner approved". That way after a trade is made, the Commisioner can confirm with both parties if they really wanted the trade. If it was a fuckup the Commisioner cancels it. Now, if the Commish is one of the parties, that's tough but he'll have to seperate himself from the situation and perform his commisionerly duties in cancelling the trade. On the other hand I really don't see why people keep screwing up like this. What is so damn hard about stopping for a second, confirming you've found the REJECT TRADE button and then clicking it. I've never had a problem with it before. (just for this karma will get me and I'll accidently accept some trade like Tejada for B. Williams)...
  7. 8pm ET. It's 30 minutes head to head with Smackdown. The wrestling wars are back~!
  8. Well, this is tonight. I'm going to have to remember to watch it since I barely missed Tito on JKL last night.

Yeah, really. I've only been a fan for about 10 years but it's felt like 10 decades. Are you in the D.C. metro area? Yes. Live in MoCo, but am at college in Delaware. Where in DE? And, I loved the call on Comcast Sportsnet as they tied it up, Steve Buckhantz went "OH NOOOOOOOOOOO!" even before the shot went in. UD in Newark.

What kind of talk is that? From the O's avatar I'd assume you're from the area? Not a Wiz fan? Nah, I'm from Montana, so I just kind of pick my teams from all over. The Orioles are definitely my favorite baseball team, if not my favorite franchise in all of sports, but as far as basketball goes, I'm a Mavs fan. Ah ok. I don't know what's stranger that there's an O's fan in Montanna...or that someone actually lives in Montanna!

By the way if you're a Wizards fan, you'll LOVE this site. And even if you're not it has the type of personality that this place would enjoy: http://www.wizznutzz.com/ Got to love the "seperated at birth" and the "throwbacks".

Yeah, really. I've only been a fan for about 10 years but it's felt like 10 decades. It's funny, I got into the team during that period where they had all these "before they were stars" like Webber, Wallace, Howard Big George and the rest and they got to the playoffs and were swept by the Bulls in 3. And then everything just fell apart as Wes Unseld traded away all our young bigs for trash and we were playing with a bunch of replacement level players or washed up guys like Ike and Mitch (although we did have God on our team, not that it helped much). And it seemed like we were changing coaches every year. And then it happened. "He" arrived. First as an executive. That alone was just so cool and made us feel important again, and then HE WAS GOING TO PLAY FOR US!?! Just awesome, of course injuries and an inexperienced core in the first year led to dissapointment. Then the next year was worse because he just went nuts trading for guys like Stackhouse (bye bye Rip...) and bringing in the likes of Bryon Russel and other playoff tested guys to surround himself with and he's STILL injured and the team still underachieves and it was clear He had to go to save the franchise. Abe took some heat and it was quite a bit cold after all the revenue and attention he brought Washington (I got to see him live twice, once was his season high 43 points, it was amazing), but it was the right move. Then Grunfeld comes in and we FINALLY have someone capable of running a franchise in charge and Gilbert and Antwan arrive with a peaking Larry and it all comes together. But don't get too excited yet. We just saw this team's capability for blowing it at the end. There's still one more game to win. And then there's Shaq but let's not think about it right now. What a strange trip for Wizards fans.

I can imagine Eddie Jordan's post game chat will go something like "Great shot, never fucking do that again."

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE THIS TEAM I HATE THIS TEAM I LOVE THIS TEAM! Like I said, Gilbert or Larry always want to make it dramatic, will lose control at the end and then hit the perfect game winning shot. Awesome. Fucking assholes making me nervous like that...

Meanwhile Shaq is like HHH watching a couple hard working undersized midcarders in a #1 contender's match thinking "silly jobbers, look at 'em go" as he prepares to squash them. This is ridiculous though. It's a complete meltdown. Like I said, they always seem to lose control of a lead at the end and make it interesting but they usually don't blow it. I guess that sets up the dramatic game winning shot that I was talking about, but it wasn't exactly neccesarry...

1 shot and Spurs/Nugs won't be on TV for a while... They've done this all year long, always making it way to close at the end. Either they blow a big lead, let the other team come all the way back (like tonight) and usually hang on by the skin of their teeth, or they'll lazy their way through the game trailing before turning it on in the last few minutes and Larry or Gilbert scoring a dramatic game winning shot. (that one's more fun).

You must have faith in this team's resiliancy. They've sapped all the confidence out of Chicago. Oh god. And never under estimate the way this team can take what looks like a sure win and turn it into a heart stoppingly close contest in the final seconds...
