WWE 24/7 Classics OnDemand General Discussion

I noticed that yesterday too. Multichannel news was reporting it like it was new. This has been going on for two months. -
I have Celsius. Of course, I like it that way. CM Punk's story was a nice change of pace. .

I enjoyed his guest spot on The Cosby Show. "But daddy, we have 3 grandpas already!" "But this one's the great jazz musician!"

So unless I read wrong (and by "read" I mean typed "/Martin" and got no results), even though I swear I saw the name pop-up, ol Martin Prince is still up for grabs. Martin Prince: Care to make it a trio, Bart? You can brush and I can blow. Bart Simpson: Well, I agree you blow. Martin Prince: Then it's a plan! Bart Simpson: A lot of people blow, but no one blows like you. Martin Prince: High praise indeed. Bart Simpson: If you looked up blow in the dictionary... Lisa Simpson: Bart, he's not gonna get it. Martin Prince: A bone? It could be from one of the major Homos! Bart Simpson: You're one of the major... Lisa Simpson: Forget it!

It's funny, I had what I'd call an obscure pick lined up for round 6, but the set-up quote made me realize there's a good unpicked option I'll be taking in about 48 minutes.

WWF Survivor Series 1991 & This Tuesday In Texas

I assumed Slaughter was forgiven when I saw him doing the intro for a GI Joe cartoon (which I had explained to me was a rerun). I bought the face turn all the same - he wanted his country back! -
I think we can all agree (except those that are Hellbound) that when Judgment Day comes, Jesus Christ will log on to TSM and say "good work, guys".

Are you Gabby Hayes good?

I hate the finish to the opener too (though I love the match), but the way Fink announces the winner comes off like a big "f you" the to people who wanted Flair to get his ass kicked. Even though I was one of those people - I just assumed Piper would beat him - I had quite the laugh over it today. When I was a kid, I was really let down that not only was Savage NOT being reinstated for this show, Sid wasn't there either. I still thought Bossman and LOD were awesome, but it really was an exercise in pointlessness. Even as an excited kid, the whole thing seemed a bit flat though. After the Hogan (which, it should be noted, we didn't even see Flair slide the chair into the ring - we thought Hogan went down clean to a Tombstone) match we went to get souvenirs and food (there was an intermission here - remember those? - but the line-ups exceeded that time) and missed The Rockers participation in the 3rd tag match and were stuck watching The Bushwackers in action. Of course this sort of thing didn't bother me back then. I vividly remember excitedly discussing predictions for the show with my cousin. How many legdrops would it take for Hogan to beat Taker? My cousin felt one would be enough, but I figured at least two, maybe even three! I also asked him (because he was the 'expert', having watched since at least 1989 while I didn't start until 1991) if Berzerker would lost his undefeated record if he lost his tag match. I have no damned idea why I even thought about such a thing, especially since we both acknowledged the build-up of calling Undertaker 'undefeated' was nonsense since my cousin saw Warrior beat him. Ah, to be a young mark again. Oh, even though I've said it before, Gorilla Monsoon getting on Heenan's case about stealing money (in this instance) or selling Hercules 'down the river', regardless of the angle being years old, Hercules not swinging a chain anymore and just being a tag guy, etc. will never not be funny to me. -

I believe that's supposed to be an inside joke to the same thing happening in 1990. Or a weird coincidence. Those pin attempts and reversals Bret and DiBiase were doing out of that spot were awesome (and pretty wild for 1991 WWF). And cabbageboy wonders why people disagree with him. -

I'm wondering if Cogeco here has some sort of Starrcade embargo. Everything is showing up on time except Starrcade 92 and Essential Starrcade 2 from last week are still missing, and Essential Starrcade 3 didn't show up this week. Since all of ES is being released on DVD (including the best match from 92 - Vader/Sting) I'm not THAT concerned, but it would be nice to have the programs there. -

It's funny that I didn't even notice that when I was a kid. I remember telling kids at school how shiny his belt was in person. What really happened was there was a lot of glare from the lights on the belt and as a 10 year old in the upper deck, I didn't really see it that well. -

Nitro's program description (and Michael Cole hyping a Hogan match at the end of the Raw portion) had me interested in this episode - Flair/Savage No DQ, Hogan in action, Rey/Malenko (I think that's what it said)... but then I saw it was a 3 hour episode and I didn't have time. Raw was ok but kind of dull, and it will be there for 3 weeks too so the wait for the Lightheavyweight Tournament continues to be a long one. Cornette's rant was really good, though. One thing that caught my attention during Raw (besides the constant Hogan bashing, which was great, and Rock's t-shirt with the giant "R" on it - did he think he was a member of Team Rocket? I'm too old to be able to make that reference...) was the mention of the Pillman angle during the HHH/Goldust match. I thought it was odd they would bring it up as in my memory, they just kind of swept the whole deal under the rug. Then they said next week, Marlena would discuss her time with Pillman. It dawned on me that this must be the angle that led to Goldust becoming Forever Unchained / TAFKA Goldust. That sounds awful, but I really don't remember it.

This show has a special place in my heart - I had only been watching wrestling for a few months but I went to the show with my cousin, uncle, and others. Good times. -
I was going to do that too. It's an old joke, but it works.

Man, I almost gave in to an upper deck row 6 middle of the arena offer (I kept "No Deal"-ing off to the side lower bowl row 20s) but when I said "ok, last try" I ended up with row 6 floor seats. Great success.
