That was the rumor on the sports radio stations around here. All the moron callers were talking about how if we had wanted Mario we could have traded down and gotten him, but they forget that A) No one was offering anything and B) the Saints (If memory serves) had decided on Mario at #2 if Bush went #1. Apparently everyone had made up their minds that the Texans were going to take Bush at 1, and any trade discussions were just a way to pressure Bush into signing a contract before the draft (he had turned down basically the same contract that Mario took). So, in effect, the more the Texans said "No, we really are open to trading the first pick!" the more other teams said, "Suuuuuuuuuuuuure you are." Plus, since it was a top heavy draft, no one wanted to trade a high pick because they were still going to get an impact player where they were. All in all, a bad combination of factors that trapped the Texans.

Cornette, Russo, and Heyman in a booking meeting would look like some sort of weird Thunderdome/Elimination Chamber match. It would take a hell of a lot more than West and Tenay sitting between them to keep the shit from flying. Although I commend Russo for not taking out after Cornette after listening to Jim bitch about everything he's given (allegedly). Actually Heyman and Cornette are on a lot better terms than Russo and Cornette were. They buried the hatchet in OVW and get along now. For some reason I thought Heyman and Russo didn't get along. I figured Heyman and Cornette had resolved at least some of their differences during Paul's time in OVW.
