So last night I went to the bar with my friend Kelly. She proceeded to get fucking HAMMERED and handed me her keys. While taking her back to get my truck, she was in the process of either passing out or falling asleep, so I decided not to let her drive back to her house, which is 20 minutes away. We went and got my truck, as I was going to have her sleep on my couch when I got nailed by an Ohio County sheriff. He gave me the standard "follow the pen" test as well as having me walk heel-to-toe and then balance on one foot for 30 seconds. Well, I only made it to 28 after doing fine on the first two tests. then he said "Please face my car, sir." at which point I knew it was over. He had me do the breathalizer, and I blew a .09, at which point he cuffed me. Now, if I would have let my friend drive home, she'd be fucking dead right now, no doubt about it. I know what I did was wrong (drinking and driving), but I also think what I did was right (not allowing her to drive). But I wonder now what I'm going to face as far as court goes. I've never been arrested before, nor have I ever had a DUI. Has anyone on this board had one, and if so, can you help me out, as far as court and the like goes?

Kornheiser's been playing that role for years now. When he had a regular column for ESPN: The Magazine, he was funny, but you could tell he was just screaming the shit out as he wrote. I don't care for I, Max at all, and would much rather see Holley dominate on ATH. Anything's better than Blackistone. But Woody's back now, so the insanity level of the show has risen once again. And that's just fine with me.

Throw in "Nihilism" and "Sidekick" and you're gold. Bad Religion: "Generator" "The Answer" "I Want to Conquer the World" "Fuck Armageddon, This is Hell" "You Are the Government" "Modern Man" "Against the Grain" The Clash: "I'm So Bored with the USA" "Tommy Gun" "Clampdown" "The Guns of Brixton" Social Distortion: "Prison Bound" "So Far Away" "Cold Feelings" "Through These Eyes"

Yeah, there was a huge hole in my logic, but I wasn't inebriated. I blew a .09 twice. Either way, my logic wasn't good.

I'm not using the truth as consolation. I know that driving drunk is wrong, and I'm expecting to be punished for what I've done. I did it anyway, now I have do deal with doing it anyway.

There was one album before As Good As Dead. It's called Ham Fisted. But, like I said before, get your mitts on a copy of Here comes the Zoo. It's worth the loot.

I realize my choice to drive was a bad one, but when there's only two of you together and neither has any money, calling a cab isn't an option. Had I had more money, I would have called one, but that was not the case. I also realize the danger that I put myself and Kelly in, as well as anyone else on the road, and the fact that no one was hurt is a blessing. I'm staying in the house for awhile. The situation did get to me. I thought about possibly losing my job, my license and maybe even getting kicked out of my house by my aunt all day, and am still thinking that I may not be around here much longer. I'm not ashamed or embarrassed for what I did. It happened, it's in the past, I have to move on. If I do some time in jal or community service, that's what happens. If I have to find a new place to live, so be it. It's my fault for whatever happens ,and I deserve whatever punishmet is dished out. I know that some of what I've just said may sound arrogant and evil, but it's the truth. And to be honest, if I were in THE EXACT SAME SITUATION 10 times over, I'd still probably do the same thing.

They used to have that kind of sound, Laz. But with their last two full-length albums and their No Fun EP, Local H has become all about the straight rock n' roll.
-
Your best bet is to pick up a copy of Here comes the Zoo. It's easily their best album from start-to-finish. There's no real filler at all, and the epic closer "What Would You Have Me Do?" is one of the finest tracks written in the last few years.

Two good songs, if you ask me, epscially "Bound for the Floor." But then again, I'm a HUGE Local H mark. Probably the only one on this board.

They were big in the 90s, but Document was pretty fucking huge back in '87. So was its follow-up.

Devin is still the fucking man and the new SYL album and DVD will be realeased in early 2005. Or so said the email newsletter I got from Hevy Devy.

I don't get the love for "Toxic." Britney's lyrics/vocals leave alot to be desired, and the stings sound like rape set to music. At least she's hot...
-
Laz knows what's up.
-
No guilty pleasures here either. I love all of the music that I listen to, and have no shame admitting the tunes that I like.

I voted for The Clash, but I must ask: Where is Prince, The Cure, and The Pixies?
-
Shower in the dark day/Clean sparks driving dow Cool in the waterway/Where the baptized drown- Soundgarden: "4th of July"

I don't ahve the EP's, but I'd imagine that they're quality stuff. I believe that most of the B-sides are live tracks from the "Mystery White Boy" tour.

Right now, the only show I give two fucks about is Social MOTHERFDUCKING Distortion in Pittsburgh on October 19th. Seeing Mike Ness live will make me able to die a happy man. Tiger Army is backing them up. It's all about the punk rock.

Good one, but my favourite Bruce opener is: The screendoor slams, Mary's dress waves Like a vision she dances across the porch as the radio plays-"Thunder Road" I got a few more: I lie in my bed/The blanket is warm This body will never be safe from harm- Jeff Buckley: "Mojo Pin" Well it's been 10 years and 1000 tears/Look at the mess I'm in A broken nose and a broken heart/An empty bottle of gin- Social Distortion: "Ball and Chain" I don't eat I just devour/Everyone in every hour All is me is all I need/And that's all that I care- Flogging Molly: "Selfish Man" He had alot to say/He had alot of nothing to say We'll miss him- Tool: "Eulogy" Overhead the albatross hangs motionless upon the air- Pink Floyd: "Echoes" When all is said and done/I'll always be your son But all is not forgiven- Life of Agony: "This Time" Welcome to where time stands still No one leaves and no one will- Metallica: "(Welcome Home) Sanitarium" Oh I miss the kiss of treachery The shameless kiss of vanity- The Cure: "Disintegration" I heard there was a secret chord/That David played and it pleased The Lord But you don't really care for music do you?- Leonard Cohen: "Hallelujah" So, so you think you can tell?/Heaven from Hell? Blue skies from pain? Can you tell a green field?/From a cold steel rail?/A smile from a vail? Do you think you can tell?- Pink Floyd: 'Wish You Were Here" It would be wrong to ask you why/because I know what goes inside It's only half of what comes out/Isn't that what it's about? Faith No More: "Digging the Grave" How many roads must a man walk down? Before you can call him a man?- Bob Dylan: "Blowin' in the Wind" More to come. I have edited my drunken spelling mistakes of last night.

Congratulations on getting into Buckley. For the longest time, Freddie Mercury reigned supreme on my vocalist list--until I heard Buckley. His voice was flawless. he did it all, from singing, to moaning, to even screaming(on live material, anyway). he could go from singing at an almost baritone level to a perfectly controlled falsetto in an instant. There was nothing he couldn't do. My advice to you is to get your grubby mitts on as much Buckley as possible. Live at Sin-e is fucking incredible. It's just Jeff and his guitar for over 150 of the most enjoyable minutes a music fan can experience. Sketches for My Sweetheart...the Drunk is also key. There's some great material on that double disc, most notably "Everybody Here Wants You", "Witches Rave", "Yard of Blonde Girls". "Satisfied Mind", and the coup-de-gras, "Vancouver." You've done yourself a huge favour by purchasing Grace. Most feel that his cover of "Hallelujah" was his finest hour, but I'm more keen to "Lover, You Should've Come Over" and "Last Goodbye." The falsetto in "Chorpus Christi Carol" is unmatched by any man I've ever heard. And the final "ooooh" just gets higher and higher until it reaches the apex and fades into "Eternal Life." Sheer brilliance, and it's a shame that a seemingly harmless swin in 1997 led to his death.

Regarding your favorite bands.........
B. Brian Brunzell replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in Music
I fell in love with Tool the first time I heard "Sober" back in '93. I knew as a 13 year-old kid that they were something great, and I've been hooked ever since. Thank God for that trip to Six Flags Great America.
