I still love classic 16-bit RPG's. They will always hold a special place in my heart. But because I am studying animation and illustration, I am more impressed with a well told story in terms of cinematography, etc. That's the sole reason I like the new school FF's more: They are better suited to telling a story. It's a very personal reason, and I certainly don't expect people to share it and I can see why some people hate cinematic-laden games, but I love them. Oh, and for the record I still think that the Chrono Series, and especially Chrono Trigger, is the better series.

I don't find RVD to be charismatic either. He's certainly a likeable personality, but being a stoner doesn't make you charismatic. It makes you annoying.

I have to back-up Sakura in that I like the more modern Final Fantasy's a lot more than the old ones, and I have played ever last one. I like the cutscenes personally, they are much better at telling the story than a few 50 pixel tall characters standing in a pixelated environment "emoting".

Chock me up as the odd man out in this situation, but I loved MGS2. I liked the more convoluted story and had no trouble following it. As to this overrated list, Penny Arcade has a little something to say about it: http://www.penny-arcade.com/view.php3?date=2003-09-19

This list is terrible. MGS2 at the number 2 spot? FFVII at the number 7 spot? Donkey Kong Country? Those games, while hyped, I'd say lived up to whatever hype they recieved at the time of their release. I have to agree that GTA 3 or Vice City definately needed to be on this list, but it's still a media darling. Once True Crime is released, if it adds up like I think it will, most people will start to realize GTA is overrated.

Brock hurt the match more than anything, I'd say. He dragged the match down with his complete and utter lack of moveset and funkadelic selling/pyschcology. Angle at least tried to bring in some varied and special moves he does once in a blue moon: Pop-up Superplex, Axe Handle, Moonsault, that funky mat hold I forget the name of, his Heel Hook (modified Ankle lock) etc. Lesnar went with brawl, shoulder charges, F5, suplex. I did enjoy the pyschology with the early chairshot and DQ, I thought that was really smart booking, but I found it to just be too helter skelter. The match REALLY degraded the pop value of the signature moves, because that's all they were doing for the most part. The ending was also well done, but I was severly dissappointed with Lesnar regaining the title. Seriously. Send him to midcard for the next 6 months or more and then let him reenter the title scene. I'm sick to death of him being champion or being number one contender. I won't give any star rating because I think they're stupid and just degenerate into flame wars anyways, but I thought the match was decent enough, I enjoyed it. It's a good sign at least that we could be seeing more things of a similar nature in the future.

I'm sick of Lesnar getting the title. He's been in this company for a little over a year and he's had the WWE title for most of that time. Why does he get the (supposedly) better reign until WMXX while Angle gets podunk 1/1/2-2 month reigns? I'm sick of Brock Lesnar and his god push, send him to midcard for awhile. Incidentally, I'm also very sorry to hear about Kurt Angle's sister. I remember reading in his book that he was very close to her. My condolences.

That new Kurt Angle shirt is pretty bad. I wish they'd release another one that could compete with his first shirt that just said "It's true! It's True! Kurt Angle" on the front, and had a big "i" on the back. The new one lacks everything that made that shirt good.
-
They never should have dropped the title to Angle in the first place if they were just gonna shoot it back to Lesnar in 2 months. Angle gets the worst possible title reigns I've seen.
-
Now I can see why they never showed his face....
-
That's BS. If that's the case there was no point in dropping the title to Angle then.
-
It makes no damn sense for Lesnar to win it back already, hence that is what WWE will do. It's pretty stupid to have Brock Lesnar as champ for 5-6 months, lose the title for a month, and then regain it for another huge reign. That smacks of HHHism, and it's stupid. It also makes no sense that he's back in No.1 contender spot so soon, he didn't even do anything to earn it.

Okay, as a long term seller he's not great. But like I said, I don't see much of anyone doing good long time selling in WWE matches. Benoit (currently) sells much the same as Angle, same as Guerrero. They all sell as much as need be but still allow themselves to do signature moves no problem. Beniot gets turned inside out with a powerbomb, and seconds later he is chopping away, laying down suplexes and doing the diving head-BUTT off the top rope. It simply seems to be the name of the game with WWE. And Kurt Angle was trained doing this style, so naturally he would follow it to a "T". If Angle could go overseas, work in Japan for awhile and train there, I could bet cash money he would be able to blow virtually everyone out of the water work-rate wise. He's such a natural talent that I have no doubt.

Here we go again.... I thought Angle's program with Austin was superior to Benoit's though, it had more emotion and a better backstory to it with Austin stealing Angle's medals and tossing them in the river tied to a cinder block. I've never had a problem with Angle's selling. I don't see current Benoit doing a better job, so....
-
Why do you want to punish Kurt Angle in this way? That wouldn't do anything but hurt Kurt's (rhyming is fun!) credibility. I'd love to see another Austin/Angle program, because they had some brilliant matches and promo's together. But Austin can't wrestle so there is no point to it. I'm getting a little tired of all these "Let's trade so-and-so for whosits, because that would be great!" That sort of trading never happens so it's pointless to say how great it would be. It would be great if I could win the lottery too, but I don't go around starting discussions on what I could hypothetically do with the money if I won. Let's keep these posts to what we all want to see, HHH bashing and Vince McMahon damning.

I've been playing mostly as Ivy and Cervantes. Ivy's the most dangerous character in the game now, because of her close-long range effectiveness and SICK~! throws. I like Cervantes because he's a sick mofo, and he's got good mid-range power.
-
Angle did an excellent variation on the crossface to Lesnar before their Mania match, but instead of hooking the arm like Benoit does, he jammed his knee into Lesnar's back/side. Looked painful as hell.
-
That's the point Lance is trying to make though. Stiffness makes a match more believable because you are actually hitting them hard(er). He's saying a truly good worker could make a match look incredibly stiff and real as hell, and yet his opponent would barely feel it.
-
I have a bad feeling Kurt will be giving up his title next week for this travesty.... I pray that I am wrong.
-
Sad to say, at the rate they're going with Brock's jobbing right now, expect a Lesnar Vs. Funaki program on VELOCITY~! within...5 months tops. <WWE Fans ^Vince McMahon
-
You have to account for Gerwitz stupidity though. He would want Funaki in the group. Then have Cole go on endlessly about how BARF is funny. "Get it Tazz they are called BARF. Brock, Albert, Rhyno, and Funaki spells BARF. HAHAHAHA." "Yeah, funny Cole." "BARF. Thats what their names spell. BARF like vomit." This one made me bust all kinds of guts I didn't even know I had. Very good. I'll say this: Next week, 'Taker better be tapping like an electrified tapping machine on the tappingest day of his life. Or else. ::Shakes fist:: You hear me, 'Taker? You'd best be "taking" the worst beating of your life next week!

I'm not interested in continuing this flame war, Ray, but this is the post that prompted my above response. This is what I was going by when I made the statements above. http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?...1&t=39408&st=30 But like I said, I don't want to flame this thread anymore, so let's just let bygones be bygones.
-
Sure, Benoit is good. Great even. But you make everything that he does out to be a **** match and above. You blindly say anything Benoit did with any worker is instantly greater than Angle's (or anyone) programs with them, regardless of how good the matches actually were. Benoit could piss in your face for the duration of a match and you'd say it was *****+. Just saying, he's not "god" as you say in your custom title. I'm certainly not saying Angle is better either, so don't skew it that way. I just can't stand this blind hero worship crap.
-
Just checked the SummerSlam website for pics... Is this not the worst image they could have chosen for 'Taker/A-train?
-
Welcome to my world. Yeah, you know, kind of like what you do with Benoit, Ray. You make me start to hate him too, with your blind praise of everything he does.
