I can't quite figure out how the WWE fucked this angle up, but its fairly obvious they did. I know I quit caring about the second or third time Matt did a run in, but I'm not sure why I feel that way. Theories?

Uh, I think he was trying to say she should probably concentrate on the family she still has rather than posting her dead son up to get air time. And I'm saying that if she wants to use her son's death as a way to rally public support against a war which will kill thousands of ohter people sons before it is over, then more power to her. People ARE arguing that her impending divorce invalidates her criticism of the Iraq War. I'm saying it does not. When NONE OF US knows why the divorce is occuring, then using it as a sign that SHE lacks a committment to her family is irrational. Whether you think they are weak are not, they are true. Her impending divorce has nothing to do with the validity of her protest. Your collective arguments otherwise are unconvincing because they are based on the premise that she is the one responsible for the divorce occurring, which has not been proven. What's sad is that I really don't even agree with her reasoning, but your collective counter-reasoining (except for some of the stuff that Boon said) is so flawed I refuse to join you in attacking her.

WHAT? When did a schizophrenic hippie Thor ever fight the Avengers? When did Hawkeye ever watch his entire family get brutually murdered by a clandestine hit squad? When did the Hulk ever tried and executed after killing hundreds of people? I do not see your point at all. While I agree its annoying, the use of pop culture references is entirely too trivial a thing to distract me from the plot, characters, or art. A few minor references to celebrities isn't enough to make me hate the entire series. Besides, the books are being published in the year 2005 for people in the year 2005 to read. Who cares if parts of it seem dated when you reread it in a few years? Nobody bitches about reference to Reed Richards serving in WW2, Rick Jones being a 1970s folk singer, Peter Parker going to the original SNL, or Flash Thompson getting drafted to Vietnam. People just ignore those parts, and remember the parts of the story they liked. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But, that wasn't really pandering through the use of pop culture. It was part of their origins. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> WHAT?

You might want to just check out the next two issues on the stands as it's just a fill-in arc by Gail Simone and Rob Liefeld featuring the new Hawk and Dove. here. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ugh.

If you know that T.O. stands for Terrell Owens, then you should know that he wanted out of San Fran, ended up in Baltimore for about a minute and a half before he bitched that he wanted to play for Philly or he'd sit. He got his way. Fast forward to him getting a broken ankle late in the season. The prevailing thought is he'd be done for the year. The Eagles made it to the Super Bowl, he came back against doctor's orders, gave a heroic performance in defeat and was a huge fan fave in Philly. . . . until he fired his agent, hired Drew 'The Shark' Rosenhaus and said he's sit if he didn't get a new contract. That's ALL NFL related stories/shows have focused on since the incident. He reported to training camp, got sent home, came back this week, and I think they just said he got sent home again, or injured. Basically, the T.O. gimmick would be to be a monumental pain in the ass throughout negotiations, or what Austin did when he was the "most coveted free agent in the draft's history" a few years ago. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Football is fake.

Translation: "A real wife and mother would be home baking cookies instead of trying to bring about world peace." You guys are so fucking narrow minded. No, you're polluting the thread because you're bringing up irrelevant shit like her husband filing for divorce and trying to claim that SOMEHOW invalidates whatever point it is she's trying to make. Especially when you have NO IDEA why the man's divorcing her. I'll say this again: The husband filing for divorce has absolutely nothing to do with any arguments the rightness or wrongness of the war in Iraq.
-
Motives do not invalidate someone's argument. Questioning someone's motives is a short-cut for people when they lack convincing counter-arguments. Boon is counter-arguing. You are simply polluting the thread with irrelevant slander. However, even with Boon's ability to counter-argue, he still cannot logically defend your position thast her divorce has any relevance to her protest. You seem to have forgotten an important fact: HE is the one divorcing HER. Therefore, it is HIM that shows the lack of committment, not her. You are attacking her for something he did. You guy's can't attack her for not really caring about her family when she's not the one seeking the divorce. Because he is the one divorcing her, this has no relevance on her caring about her family, because she has not done anything to show she does not care about her family. Thus, it is irrelevant. Bringing it up is nothing more than trivial mud-slinging.

I see. Let me argue though that while these two items are not leaders in price increases, as you've already proven, they are things which can possibly cause inflation in other (but not all) sectors. The reason I thought real estate prices would drive inflation is because as real estate values go up, landlords will often (but not always) jack-up the cost of rent, due to the opportunity costs of renting the land vs. selling it. This doesn't make real estate as make-or-break as food and gas, but real estate prices seem to bite everyone in the ass somehow, eventually. Rising health care costs hurt us not just as patients, but (because of medical entitlements) as taxpayers.
-
You're totally missing the point of what she said. She's asking why is it okay for some countries to have nukes, and not others. Nothing about what she said is anti-semetic in any way. Totally irrelevant. She doesn't blame Israel for her son's death, she's saying Bush has a double standard that unfairly benefits Israel.
-
Health care, a commodity needed by all people at multiple points in their lives, increases in price at twice the rate of inflation. Drugs, another commodity directly related to the health care field, rise in price at triple the rate of inflation. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8964523/ I'd also add the price of real estate to the list of things that are rapidly increasing in price. All of these things are essential to our society. If the price of all of them continues to soar, its only a matter of time before increased prices spill over into other sectors of the economy. Add that to record budget deficits pumping extra $$$ into the economy, and an army of Greenspans won't be able to undo the damage.

I'd have Lita turn on Edge and cost him the match, then have Edge attack Batista after Batista beats JBL and use his "Money in the Bank" title shot to win the belt from Batista. Anybody agree? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Great except for the Edge being on Raw & Batista being on Smackdown thing. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Did you forget Summerslam is a joint brand PPV? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well no, I didn't forget that. They COULD go w/ JMA's plan (which sounds good btw) but I don't think WWE creative is smart enough to do it. If I recall correctly, Edge has even stopped coming out with the briefcase. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks for the compliment. Sadly, you're most likely right in regards to the creative team's intelligence. These ARE the people who thought the "mole from hell" was a good idea... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And thank YOU for taking credit for my ideas.

That too.

yes, dammit! Word play that's both awful and brilliant simultaneously. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How about some credit for the dude who did the actual set-up for the joke by mentioning A Flock of Seagulls?

The ret-conning that pisses me off the most is the return of the art deco Flash Gordon inspired head-band wearing green & red Krypton. That goes double for stupid as hell Krypto and the Kara Zor-El version of Supergirl. Some pre-Crisis ideas deserved to stay buried.

I'm reading Teen Titans, The Return of Donna Troy, JSA Classified, and Green Lantern. I was planning on reading JLA, but always seem to miss the beginning of whatever storyline they're doing. I'm interested in Project: OMAC, but its usually sold out by the time I get to the store. I'm also buying the "Justice" mini-series, which is off to a fantastic start. I gave Supergirl a chance, based on the strength of the Peter David incarnation, but found it to be pathetically inadequate. This new series is just horrible. Same goes for All-Star Batman.

In defense of Ashley, Leyla's Shauna Sand look got old around 1998.

So, the spoilers didn't lie. Also, Batista's great on the mic when he's not doing comedy or trying to out-intense someone. Just let him be the cool, clever guy on the mic who thinks things through instead of going into a Luxan hyper-rage at the first sign of a challenge.

First of all, I loved Sunny back in the day. That day being any day I watch a tape from before 1998. Second, anyone who can loose weight that fast is probably doing it in the least healthy way possible. This is especially alarming considering Sunny's past with drug use.

In a related story, 80's band A Flock of Seagulls are planning a comeback.

Between rising prices of food, gas, health care, and a record budget deficit, its a small miracle we have not seen massive amounts of overall inflation... ...yet.

Who the hell is Sean Hannity, a question asked by the uneducated with their fingers far from the pulse of the community. Did I get that right? I think I'm pretty close. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
