  1. Someone names a year, and then the next person names what THEY THINK (personal opinions, not what won the most awards) is the best movie that came out that year. For example: POST 1: 1997? POST 2: Boogie Nights 1975? POST 3: Jaws 1994? POST 4: Pulp Fiction 1966? And so on and so forth. These pages might help: http://www.impawards.com/gallery.html http://www.imdb.com/chart/top ________________________________________ To start: 1983?
  2. And yet "Pearl Harbor" made $200 million. People don't know if a movie is "godawful or reprehensible" until after they see it. A movie can do major $$$ the first weekend, before people have a chance to hear how bad it is. Granted, "Pearl Harbor" wasn't actually offensive, but it was a pretty awful film.
  3. I just got my last Angel set 2 weeks ago (I was missing Season 4). I was surprised Season 2 was anamorphic widescreen, since they didn't start showing it in widescreen on WB until Season 3. I think I bought all the Buffy sets as they came out. Can anyone compile a list of all the episodes Joss Whedon does commentary on? I think 've listened to them all, but I'm not sure since the info isn't on the DVD case anywhere. And what are some of the better non-Whedon commentaries?
  4. You act as if stiffing people in the ring is acceptable.
  5. Can we please just agree to disagree about whether or not the Hassan/terrorist incident was offensive, and unite behind the idea that it was just plain dumb?
  6. That's a good point. I wish I could eliminte people for saying "Balla".
  7. Whenever I see a bad movie that's based on a true story, I think "Was it this lame and uninteresting when the people were actually living through it?"
  8. http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn?p...1&notFound=true Probably the gayest movie review I've ever read. The guy's so obsessed with making bad puns, he projects his own lameness onto the movie.
  9. He's 100% right.
  10. So, they're more entertaining than Hassan, aren't they? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> *rimshot*
  11. I dunno about Starz, but HBO and Showtime seem to love to play the shit out of movies from 10+ years ago. When I first got DirecTV, I got 3 months of free HBO. You know what movie was on? "Hot to Trot". I turned to the installer and said, "This is the exact same movie they were showing when I was 14."
  12. Everytime I read a review of a comic book movie, I can't help but remember a SCATHING review I read for X2 where the reviewer QUITE OBVIOUSLY wasn't smart enough to follow the plot and kept getting tons of basic details wrong. If I can find it, I'll post it. It was hillariously bad.
  13. 3/4 of those made no sense.
  14. Except, Hassan's not an evil foriegner.
  15. Nope, the sick fucks just put a parental advisor on the show. A parental advisory? WTF? As if people over 18 wouldn't be deeply offended by that shit. Assholes.
  16. If you were entertained by that, you need professional help. Wrestling is supposed to be SPORTS entertainment, not "let's try to be more shocking and tasteless than anything else on TV". The only word for that segment was SICK.
  17. For those of you who didn't look at the recap... Amen.
  18. So does that mean that Daniel Puder paid his dues by embarassing Kurt Angle in the middle of the ring on SmackDown!? Is he deserving of a monster push and title win? Even Ken Shamrock – who proved his "legit" credentials to an even greater extent and is probably the toughest guy that has ever been in the WWF/E – didn't get that treatment. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> All Pruder did was put Angle in a submission hold because Angle (who was in pretty bad shape at the time) didn't know Pruder was going to fight back. THAT'S A LITTLE DIFFERENT THAN WINNING AN NCAA WRESTLING TOURNAMENT. Now, if Pruder had beaten Angle in the Olympics, that'd be another story.
  19. Shut the fuck up. Seriously. It's not that big of a deal. This is the wrestling business, not fucking CSPAN. No one gives a shit was the people in the "rasslin" business do. No one was clamoring for Sgt. Slaughter to be fired when he became an Iraqi Sympathizer and started lighting mother fuckers on fire. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> First of all, how'd you like it if they did an angle on the September 13th, 2001 Smackdown where Steve Austin flew a plane into a building? That wouldn't be so god damn entertaining, would it? Second, the guy's got a valid point about how Hassan's actions are tasteless. I don't agree that Hassan should be let go (the guy's doing the best with the crappy material the WWE gives him, so its not his fault), but I'll be the first to agree that Hassan is not only not entertaining, but offensive. Don't tell people to "shut the fuck up" because you disagree with their opinion. That's just being a dick. Third, how the hell do you know what people were clamoring for when Sgt. Slaughter had to play an Iraqi sympathizer? Were you reading internet message boards back then or something? Slaughter was getting death threats, for fuck's sake. That goes WAY past people wanting him to be fired! People keep arguing that Hassan isn't any different than other racists/xenophobic angles that the WWE has run in the past AS IF THOSE ANGLES WERE SOMEHOW EVEN REMOTELY ENTERTAINING. The Nation of Domination sucked until the Rocky/Faaroq feud. The Sgt. Slaughter/Iraq War angle was dreadfully bad, and Wrestlemania did poor business that year. You can't blow this shit off and say "its just entertainment" if its not entertaining. There's nothing entertaining about Hassan pretending to be a terrorist, and there's certainly nothing cool about him making gestures that he's going to cut people's heads off at a time when actual footage of decapitations are being posted on the internet by terrorist groups.
  20. I don't even know where to begin. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Okay, I know where to begin now. The decision to label him a sex offender is based on the notion that he intended to molest the girl, which the court admits it cannot prove. Anytime a court cannot prove something, they should and must defer to the time honored (and constitutionally based) tradition of innocent until proven guilty. Unless they can PROVE he intended to molest the girl, he is not guilty. The Appellate Court of Illinois should expect to have this ruling overturned by a higher court, since it is unconstitutional.
  21. While I'll agree that its not right for an immigrant to be a financial burden on the country they move to, I'm sure all the people who've lived in the countries the UK sent waves of immigrants to over the last few hundred years might think you're trying to have it both ways.
  22. Vince will probably just do an angle now where Hassan bombs a train.
  23. So...are they ever going to explain what the fuck its actually about?
  24. No, its supposed to be the 1970s, not for them to be in their 70s. The house only has technology, clothes, and furnishings from that decade. If that's not a "WHOOSH" right there, I don't know what is <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was PLAYING ALONG, damn it.
