OAO Raw Thread - July 30, 2007
OldSchoolWrestling replied to OldSchoolWrestling's topic in The WWE Folder
Yearly, or one time? That is pretty much what the WWE does with the draft each year. Lashley even got stripped of the title since he got drafted to Raw. -
This Wednesday's shows will be: Honky Tonk Man vs. Macho Man Randy Savage; Brutus Beefcake vs. Greg Valentine; Ravishing Rick Rude vs. Ricky Steamboat. From Dec. 26, 1987. Ultimate Warrior vs. Mr. Perfect; Demolition vs. Orient Express; Bret Hart vs. The Model Rick Martel. From March 19, 1990.

They should have their fake cops arrest him for climbing in the ring and then send the tape to the NFL.

I'm a big fan of Bischoff but to me he just sounds like those people who complain to the cop giving him a speeding ticket that the cop should be worrying more about the drug dealers and murders. -

I read that Tim Flannery who coaches one of the bases for the Giants started wearing some protective gear due to this. -

Have they ever discussed how matches are decided? With no GM in place do they just bypass it with both wrestlers agreeing to a match? Didn't Morrison say Punk will not receive any more chances? Will they get around that by Punk pissing him off enough to give him one more chance?

Mr. McMahon "dead" - Now for the "whodunit" angle.
OldSchoolWrestling replied to Downhome's topic in The WWE Folder
Not sure if this was mentioned before, but I found this on a SK rant: Speaking of Tugboat, since the angle is dead and buried now I can reveal that Dusty Rhodes tried hard to have Shockmaster be the mastermind behind Vince McMahon’s attempted murder, which I guarantee would have been better than whatever the eventual payoff would have been. -
His picture reminds me of Creed on The Office.

WWF Wrestling Observer News (2.17.86)

Thanks for posting. I would love to see the UFW/NWA and even AWA if possible. -
Not even close babe. It's skaters, bikers and the like that've sent in tape to MTV about some horrific accident they had happen to them. If chosen, they air it on the show and interview the guy it happened to as he narrates what happened and how the trick should've gone and all that. So this is the reverse of "Don't try this at home" and "Don't send us your tapes because we won't look at them".

But even a good playmaker who gets everyone else scoring would be considered big. If LA starts scoring more goals per game and he is a direct result, the announcers should be able to sell it.

I think the only thing it will do is prompt other older players to come for the money once they can no longer compete in the more competitive countries. I had heard Zidane had been considering it and Cuauhtemoc Blanco from Mexico is coming over. While most of these transfers won't bring in new fans it will be good for the soccer fans who watch other countries to be able to see some of the past stars locally.

Bobby Lashley cemented his spot in The Great American Bash's WWE Championship Match last week when he defeated Shelton Benjamin and the time of King Booker in the final "Beat the Clock" Match of the evening. This Monday night, right at 9 p.m. ET, King Booker will look for revenge as he takes on Lashley in one-on-one action. Will royalty rule this week on Raw? Or will Lashley overthrow the King en route to his WWE Championship Match with John Cena? Also, Randy Orton may also have a chance to add another Legend to his list of victims. After he slapped WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes last week, “The American Dream” told Orton to meet him face-to-face in Lafayette. What does Dusty have in mind for the Legend Killer? Plus, Candice Michelle may be Women’s Champion, but Melina’s not ready to let go. After defeating Maria in action last week, the former champion attacked Candice, only to find herself with a face full of floor. Will the rivalry between Candice and Melina come to a head this week? Find out the answers to all of these questions and more on Raw, Monday night at 9/8 CT on USA Network.

Probably a Dusty win when his kid interferes and then Randy gets his revenge by killing another legend. -
This Wednesday they will show Greg Valentine vs Tito Santana from 1-21-85 and then Hogan-Savage from 4-24-89.

I see them and I drool. They rarely if ever deliver.

Gwynn only hit .394 that year. Still too high based on the short season, but not the sacred .400. I'm answering the question of "would he have done it?" There's a bit of an idea that Gwynn lost the opportunity to chase .400 because of the strike. Gwynn would have hit .400, by the way, if he collected just four more hits. Thanks for the clarification. Now that you say 4 more hits, I recall how close he really was.

He had already taken about 4 months off in 2006 so who knows if more time would have even helped. -
Raw returns to its regular time of 9/8 CT on USA Network as the flagship emanates from the American Airlines Center in Dallas. Big news from the desk of Executive Assistant Jonathan Coachman: He has scheduled a Vengeance: Night of Champions rematch for Raw, as Intercontinental Champion Santino Marella will again face the Samoan Bulldozer, Umaga. Their match at Vengeance was stopped by the referee, as Umaga brutalized the Milan Miracle and was disqualified for ignoring the referee's five-count. The beating continued post-match, as the super-heavyweight crushed the ribs of the champion with a splash from the top rope. Will Marella manage to rebound and keep the miracle alive Monday night, or will Umaga once again wear Intercontinental gold? Tune in at 9/8 CT on USA Network to find out.
