  1. I remember Davenport having around 60 by game's end. I think Cowher decided to take Parker out after he broke the team single-game rushing record. Classy move.
  2. Who picked Columbus to do anything? They have no defence and no goaltending.
  3. Jesse after the Rick Rude's IC title win at WrestleMania V was fantastic. "I called it! I told you, Gorilla! I told you they'd outsmart him! Yeah!" His call of the Savage-Hogan title match at the same show was great too, especially when he went off on Hogan after raking Savage's eyes: "I'll tell you what, I don't know how the Pukesters can cheer for this guy. He's as dirty as they get, Gorilla!" Or when the crowd was cheering for Hogan: Jesse: "And listen to the Pukesters!" Gorilla: "What right do YOU have to call them that name?" Jesse: "Because they are!" Gorilla's famous line during the Hogan-Andre match stands out: "The irresistable force meeting the immovable object!"
  4. Willie Parker is having a career night. 212 yards and a touchdown in just under three quarters.
  5. Even at his age, he still OPSed a hair under 1000 last year. I'd give $16 million to Bonds before I'd give any of the new mediocre multimillionaires the money they've all gotten. Plus, he's still a big draw in Frisco, which is worth something.
  6. Everyone says what bad luck teams have being in the AL East, but the Royals are in the worst spot of any team in MLB. In that division, with the players they have, their version of a successful season is one where they don't lose 100 games. And even by that standard, they've still only had one successful season in the last five.
  7. Figures. It was clear no one else wanted to sign him.
  8. Which team in that division are they expecting to leapfrog? I cannot imaging ever wanting to sign with the Royals. I know it's a vicious circle, but that team has no chance to win.
  9. Gumbel shouldn't be allowed to do any sort of PBP. He's much more suited to being an interviewer/moderator inside a studio, yes. I do like the fact that Harry Kalas does the intro and outro voiceovers.
  10. Arcade's open again...but what happened to all the games? Don't tell me I'm going to have to get to 355 in Paper Toss all over again.
  11. Quick Edit doesn't work for me either, and I'm using Firefox 2.0. Also, the option to remove the Edited By line in edited posts isn't there anymore.
  12. I did not need to see Warrior molesting Santa again.
  13. Martin Havlat comes back on Sunday from his ankle injury. Manny Legace is gone at least a week for the Blues. Someone fired a shot at his head in practice and knocked him out. He had to go to the hospital.
  14. Jacques Demers.
  15. It's all Alyssa Milano's fault.
  16. I vote no as well. My Thursday pick: -7.5
  17. Fact that's probably only interesting to me: My cousin Rob Brown was runner-up to Nieuwendyk for the 1987-88 Calder Trophy.
  18. That's interesting. I like that proposal. I think every team should host every other team once. I don't know, though, why they don't just adopt an NBA-style schedule. The leagues are structured exactly the same. You'd think Gary Bettman would have thought of that. Pardon my basketball ignorance...what do you mean by NBA-style? They play four games against divisional opponents, either three or four games against other conference opponents, and two games against teams from the other conference.
  19. Our (my) long national (local) nightmare is over. The Senators have made it back to the top 8 in the East with a 4-2 win over the Islanders.
  20. The Padres signed Greg Maddux for one year, $10 million.
  21. Give me the top 5 quarterbacks in the league, with or without justification.
  22. That's interesting. I like that proposal. I think every team should host every other team once. I don't know, though, why they don't just adopt an NBA-style schedule. The leagues are structured exactly the same. You'd think Gary Bettman would have thought of that.
  23. I joined the board right before the switch. I first became a fan over twenty years ago, and I don't still watch. Partly because I'm now married and on the wrong side of thirty, partly because there's nothing but dreck on TV and I can't be bothered to spend money (and free time) on tapes and DVDs to watch anything else.
  24. Harper is way cooler than he's given credit for. He doesn't seem to take himself too seriously.
