  1. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. He's the reason I want the Mets to go all the way this year.
  2. I'm biased for obvious reasons.
  3. Was that Ken Jennings in the mob?
  4. Think of it as dumping all your bad karma on this contest so you can win the NFL contest. I noticed you're 4-0 over there.
  5. All the talk about moving the Penguins, those damn southern teams being bad for the NHL and so forth and so on can't be really valid anymore when an Original 6 team can only draw 8000 fans to a game. Fuck Bill Wirtz with a habanero dildo. Seriously, the Blackhawks used to own Chicago in the winter months once upon a time, and now they've been reduced to a joke because of Wirtz's tightfistedness and Pulford's shitty management of the team. This is getting out of hand. Put the home games on television, try to mend fences with the fans that have been alienated, and make hockey in Chicago matter again. It's heartbreaking. Yeah, moving the team won't mean jack shit as long as Wirtz is still the owner. It's gotten well past the point where the league should step in and force a sale. If there were no Jeffrey Loria, Wirtz would be the worst owner in sports.
  6. That applies to the licensing agreement, not the pension plan. Mrs. Lidle will still collect on the pension.
  7. (1) would imply that he thinks Ozzie Guillen is one of the two best managers in baseball. So, definitely (2). I've found you can never go wrong by just assuming Hawk is an idiot.

  9. True, and it did a lot better in the ratings than I thought it did, upon checking. It was in the top 20 for five straight seasons.

    Finally

True story -- the game took place on Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, and we sat down to dinner when the game was 6-1. I was the only one interested in how the game turned out (everyone else figured it'd end up a laugher, especially with Eckersley for the late innings), and thus I was the only one who got to see Alomar tie the game up. I remember Eck getting a strikeout to end the eighth, and him pumping his fist and glaring into the Jays dugout. Not such a good idea in retrospect. And it was pretty scary how badly Morris sucked that postseason, going 0-3 and getting hammered in this, his only other start. After a 20-win regular season, it was like his career dove off a cliff.
  11. What was the last sports-related show to truly succeed on network TV? Coach is the only one I can think of, and even that is stretching the definition of "success" a bit.
  12. And he hardly played at all last year.
  13. In jail or just visiting?
  14. Wow, Air Force came back. Nice. I wrote them off when they were down 21-3 at halftime.
  15. Kwame Brown, F/C Don't let me down, kid.
  16. Sens are 0-3 at ScotiaBank Place this year after the 1-0 loss to Calgary. They've only scored 9 goals on the year, nearly half of which came in one game. I really don't know why they're having such trouble putting the puck in the net -- their forwards are just about unchanged from last season.
  17. What a fantastic start. At least the only game I need to worry about is the Florida game.

  20. Just went to his ESPN.com player page to look back at Lidle's career. I'm going to hell for laughing at this...
  21. He's just being honest. He was traded there; it's not like he signed a big contract as a free agent and is regretting it. THAT would piss me off.
  22. I'm backing out of the TSM roto league, in case anyone wants a spot and didn't get one.
  23. I think Denver should put up 34 here, probably with a couple of defensive touchdowns. The Raiders have a legit chance to go 0-16.
  24. Plummer is the really frustrating one -- he has so much more ability than what he's shown this season. If he can turn it around somehow, Denver can go far...their top two receivers are as good as any pair in the league, and the defence is killer. McNair is at the end of the line, there's no way he can lead a team deep in the playoffs. It's not the same situation as 2001.
  25. I'm still amazed NPH didn't get an Emmy nomination last season. Barney is one of the very best characters on TV.
