  1. I guess he didn't know how to play queer.
  2. Agreed. Time limits are a lost artform these days. It was always fun to see a solid ten or fifteen minute match and have the face pull out all the stops in the last two minutes desperately trying to get a pinfall to beat the time limit. It definetly added a new atmosphere to the matches and made you pay attention to the belt because it seemed anyone could win it at any given time.
  3. Well I'll miss JBL. His ring work may not have been the best but his promos were some of the better ones on SD! By the way, what's up with all of these injuries? It seems that they are happening at a continuous pace these days to a startling degree.
  4. This question has always been on my mind but I keep forgetting to ask this board about it: At the 1991 Royal Rumble the reason Randy Savage & Sherri interfered in the Warrior-Slaughter WWF Championship match was because Slaughter told Savage if he won he'd give him a title shot while the Warrior refused Sherri's request for the same during the show. So did Savage ever get his WWF Title match with Slaughter post-Royal Rumble 1991?
  5. So my Jazz are thinking of taking JJ, eh? Dunno quite how I feel about that but I'll take what I can get b/c I desperately want to see them back in the playoffs again. Boy do I miss Stockton and Malone...
  6. I just wonder how Cena's character is going to change for the Marine. Are they going to bring Booker T to RAW as GI Bro or have Cena come from under the ring and shoot a bunch of jobber with a machine gun? I'm scared....VERY scared.
  7. Stuff like this is why I cancelled my subscription to WWF Magazine shortly after Vince Russo left the staff.
  8. I have an interesting question for this board: how would you have booked the 1995 KOTR tournament with the same bracket the WWF set up at the time? If I remember correctly the bracket was: Mabel-Undertaker Shawn Michaels-Kama Bob Holly-Roadie Savio Vega/IRS-Yokozuna I included the Vega-IRS match b/c that match took place before the show to determine who would take the spot of the injured Razor Ramon. The more I think about that bracket it's clear the WWF was setting us up for a screwjob finish because face-face matches just didn't happen in the WWF at that time period and the same goes for heel-heel. If it were up to me and Mabel didn't win the tournament I would've had Mabel advance over the Undertaker via Kama interference, Michaels advance over Kama with the Undertaker repaying the favor, have Holly-Roadie go to a time limit draw, and then have Yokozuna crush Vega. Then advance Michaels over Mabel and then finally Michaels over Yokozuna in the final. That's some messy booking but that's the best I could do with that final 8 field. Any other ideas?
  9. Looks like a pretty good card for a non-major pay-per-view. However, my home cable is messed up so I can't order this show. We putting predictions up here? If so I'll go ahead and lay mine out (keep in mind I don't watch Smackdown! as often as RAW): World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio vs. United States Champion JBL: King of the Ring Tournament Final: Booker T vs. Lashley WWE Tag Team Champions MNM vs. Paul London & Brian Kendrick Undertaker vs. The Great Khali Kurt Angle vs. Mark Henry Cruiserweight Champion Gregory Helms vs. Super Crazy Melina vs. Jillian The WWE has really booked themselves into a corner in the World Heavyweight Title match because either Mysterio gets destroyed by a guy who lost to the Boogeyman in short order at the Royal Rumble and destroys his credibility to ever be a top caliber guy again (if that hasn't already been destroyed) or JBL jobs and looks INCREDIBLY weak in the process which could also impact the image of the US title (which I also believe the WWE doesn't care about). I can see where they could put Rey over in a "JBL is too cocky" type scenario but I just don't see it happening and I just wouldn't buy it. Of course, then what happens to the U.S. title? I expect Lashley to go over in the KOTR to keep his push going although maybe they'll push Booker T back into the main event picture to face Rey if he wins at the GAB? After all, with that Batista incident you might have an immediate program if Batista returns. I choose London & Kendrick to go over MNM for the belts simply b/c swapping the titles between the teams seems like the logical thing to do. I've really enjoyed the parts of the MNM-London/Kendrick program I've managed to see. Part of me believes that this won't be the end of the Great Khali at this pay-per-view. I can see UT winning by DQ to set up a specialty match at the GAB where the Undertaker could extend his "kill" streak to three. However, that's probably just me dreaming. The other matches I could really care less about. I think it's clear that Angle will go over Henry, the Cruiserweight title gets bounced around from time to time and I just have a hunch Super Crazy wins it, and Melina is a hot product for WWE right now so I expect her to win over Jillian.
  10. Sounds cool. I'm a big Vince mark so when you finish the tape I might be interested in buying a copy. I forgot to add that I marked out big for the trampoline bulldog last night during the tag title match. Risky or not it's one of the craziest things I've seen in a long time.
  11. I'm glad someone pointed this out. I noticed that on the SNE promo and was like "wtf"?!? I too got a kick out of Vince's "crying" at the end of RAW and liked how HHH told Michaels he wanted to see the sledgehammer blow coming which I inferred would give Shawn time to duck the blow. The Foley-Funk segment didn't do much for me. Funk can barely move and his weak ass punches flooring Foley and Edge made both of them look pathetic. I do like the Mandible Claw-Spear double-team move but I though the Foley-Funk interview was embarrassing although I can see why some people liked it. Also, the opening match did little for the guys involved except to show that HHH is the strongest guy on the roster yet again. I mean he gets to Pedigree BOTH champs and Shelton looks weak when he just rolls over onto an unconscious RVD for the title. Plus, immediately after the match all the focus was on HHH instead of Shelton's victory. Overall, a decent show last night but too much HHH focus for me. I see where they are going with it but I got tired of seeing him towards the end of the show. By the way, what's up with HHH using two different theme musics? Is one his promo music and the other his wrestling match music?
  12. If they have to use the WWE-style though aren't the entire shows going to be shitted on by the audience though?
  13. Why is the WWE not wanting to sell the shows? Since they now own the rights why would they not try to get some extra revenue?
  14. That's almost word for word of what happened at my house as well with me staying awake and my friends/family either leaving the room or falling asleep. That show also ruined War Games for me because now whenever I think about it I don't remember the brawls of the 80s with the Horsemen or the WrestleWar '92 match between Sting's Squadron and the Dangerous Alliance. Instead, I just remember a bunch of guys acting unconsious for what seems like FOREVER so that Warrior-Hogan can go through their ridiculous program that no one cared about.
  15. You know, they should save him for GAB so the Undertaker can extend his kill steak to three. That would be badass.
  16. WWE booking themselves into a corner? Get outta here...
  17. I could see this popping up on EWR after you booked the Rey-Khali match: -Rey Mysterio lost 10 pts. of overness from this match -The World Heavyweight Title has lost prestige Sometimes I just wonder what in the hell the writers are smoking backstage before they put these shows together. I'm not a storyline genius but I know that you don't just squash your World champ. On a side note, has the squashing of a World Champion in a non-title match ever happened before?
  18. So not only do they make Rey appear super weak as World Heavyweight Champ but also make the #1 contender to the title, JBL, appear weak as well since he was able to be run off by a weak champion earlier in the show. I bet that'll make people want to shell out the money for Judgement Day!
  19. Crap. I really hope this doesn't happen.
  20. It was also sad seeing Lawler digress back into "puppies" mode last night for the women's match. Looks like we're back to the same old, same old...
  21. Guess this could set up Foley/Edge vs. Funk/Dreamer @ ONS II?
  22. Expect John Cena to die at the pay-per-view.
  23. Should we take this as a good or bad sign?
